Abstract

Choy sum (Brassica rapa L.) cultivation main obstacle in Maluku was soil fertility and plant diseases. Biological agent and Biofertilizers will play a significant role to reduce the intensity of disease attacks, and increase crop productivity. The objective of this experiment  was to study the effects of nitrogen fixing and phosphate solubilizing microbe (Bion-UP) and Trichoderma harzianum solid inokulan (Bokelas Plus) on choy sum productivity grown on land Rhizoctonia solani-contaminated land. The experimental treatments  were liquid  biofertilizer and Bokelas Plus which has been combined into 6 treatments: Without biofertilizer and Bokelas Plus, 50 kg Bokelas Plus/ha without biofertilizer, 15 mL biofertilizer per plant without Bokales Plus, 15 mL biofertilizer per plant + 50 Kg Bokelas Plus/ha, 15 mL biofertilizer  per plant + 25 kg Bokelas Plus/ha, and 7.5 mL biofertilizer per plant + 50 kg Bokales Plus/ha. The results showed that giving of Bokelas Plus and biofertilizer with different dose levels decreased  leaf blight intensity and increasing fresh weight of choy sum. Biofertilizer application with and without Bokelas Plus decreased the intensity of leaf blight disease by 39.14% - 46, 93%, and increase the fresh weight of choy sum by 15.19% - 36.25%.

Abstract

Dams irrigation system is important facility to ensure the water availability during rice cultivation. The aim of this study was to verify the condition of Way Bini irrigation system in providing irrigation water and water distribution system to meet the needs of rice cultivation in Savana Jaya Village, Waeapo Subdistrict, Buru District. The research used survey method. The results showed that the irrigation water debit required for appropriate rice cultivtion was 677.16 L/sec (0.68 m3/sec) which was smaller than that of the Way Bini dam; 750 L / s (0.75 m3 / s), while the efficiency of the irrigation water requirement was 70% which was categorized as good to excellent.

Abstract

Efforts to save the forest should be  done to avoid forest damage by pests. This aim of this study  was determine the type of pest and area of attack on the resin stand (Agathis alba) in conservation forest Sirimau, Maluku Province by used of survey method. The results of the study found that pests that destroy dammar in conservation forest Sirimau are leaf-eating pest (Valanga nigricormis) and stem borer (Massicus scapulatus). The damage caused by Valanga nigricormis at the seedling level  was 92%, the weaning level  was 72%, and the pole level was 64%. The damage caused by Massicus scapulatus at the tree level was 60%. The extent of attack of both types of pests was categorized as heavy to very heavy.

Abstract

Commercial and community plantation of sengon commonly know as Moluccan albizia (Falcataria moluccana (Miq.) Barneby and J.W Grimes) requires qualified transplant, but the supply of such transplant seed is constrained by mealybug pest attack in the nursery. The purpose of this study is to identify the mealybug species that attack Moluccan albizia seeds. Observation of the symptoms mealybug attack in the nursery and identification of mealybug species has been performed in the nursery of Forest Research Center, Bogor. The results were mealybug that attack nursery was Ferrisia virgata belong to the famili Pseudococcidae, the Order Hemiptera.  White mealybug colonized the stems and leaves of seeds. The leaves fall and plant wilted when the attack become serous. Predator Curinus coerulus and Coccinella repanda was suggested to be used to control mealybug.

Abstract

The objective of field study was to study the response of ants to forest damage due to presence of human activities in Sirimau Conservation forest, Ambon. The respons of ants was analyzed based on their richness, abundance, diversity, frequency and functional response to anthropogenic damage by used of line transecting method. Secondary parameters measured were local microclimate as well as soil physical and chemical characteristics. The study found 23 species of ants and 16,601 individual ants in the forests; the highest species abundance was 0.158, while frequency and diversity index was 32.44% and 2.92 each and were classified as moderate. Functionally ants consisted of oppurtunist (1 species), generalized myrmicinae (1 species), specialist predators (4 species), tropical climate specialists (6 species), dominant dolichoderinae (4 species), subordinate camponitini (6 species) and criptic species (4 species). Anthropogenic activity contributed to forest habitat destruction through forest opening, logging, forest fires and shifting cultivation. Anthropogenic damage in secondary forest caused fragmentation and degradation, followed by inbalance of environment and ecosystem components

Abstract

Manusela National Park has a very high degree of diversity of crooked beak. The objective of this study was to determine the types and habitats of the crooked beak in the Wae Illie forest of Manusela National Park. The method of this research was Ponctualle de'Abondance method. Observation and retrieval of data on birds was done by determining five stations points with 250 m distance between each observation station. The observation time in each station is 20 minutes. Vegetation data has been determined by line plot sampling method for regeneration rate and continuous strip sampling for tree level. The results of the study determined that seven species of parrots, namely Molucas Kakatua (Cacatua moluccensis), red chili pepper (Charmosyna placentis), Nuri Bayan (Eclectus roratus), Nuri Molucas (Eos bornea), Large Coconut Paruh Betet (Tanygnathus megalorynchos) and Perkici rainbow (Trichoglossus haematodus) were accrued points observations. The diversity of bird species is categorized as low;their species diversity H' was 0.3109. Kakatua Seram (Cacatua moluccensis) abundance was 40%, relatively higher that those of other six bird species.
