Veritas: Jurnal Teologi dan Pelayanan is a peer-reviewed and open-access journal published semiannually (June and December) by Sekolah Tinggi Teologi SAAT (Southeast Asia Bible Seminary), Malang City, East Java, Indonesia. The journal specializes in evangelical theology that focuses on the novelty in biblical studies, systematic theology, and practical theology, contributing to theological studies and ecclesial ministry. Manuscripts submitted for publication in this journal include quantitative or qualitative field research findings, conceptual and critical studies, exegesis or exposition material, case studies, and other forms of original thought in the broad scope of theological research, supported with academic references that are adequate, robust, and accurate.

Abstract

Indonesia adalah negara dengan pengguna internet yang tidak bisa dianggap remeh. Menurut sebuah survei, pada tahun 2018 Indonesia menduduki peringkat keempat di dunia dalam lamanya penggunaan waktu untuk berinternet dalam sehari, yaitu 8 jam 51 menit. Maraknya penggunaan internet di Indonesia ini masih belum dibarengi dengan kualitas yang baik dalam memanfaatkan teknologi informasi ini. Pemanfaatan internet di Indonesia yang mayoritas digunakan untuk media sosial dan gaya hidup ini juga dibayangi-bayangi dengan tingkat kejahatan dan penyalahgunaan yang mengkhawatirkan. Dengan latar belakang kondisi tersebut, tulisan ini akan menyoroti aspek-aspek nilai yang memengaruhi pola pikir, sikap dan perilaku pengguna internet dari sudut pandang etika Kristen, yaitu dalam hal kesejatian relasi, pengolahan informasi, otoritas kebenaran, serta identitas dan integritas pengguna. Kata-kata kunci: Teknologi Informasi, Internet, Etika, Konsep Nilai, Relasi, Kebenaran, Identitas, Integritas   The number of regular internet users in the country of Indonesia should not be underestimated. At the year of 2018 it was noted that Indonesia was ranked fourth in the world in the length of time spent on the internet in a day; a total of 8 hours 51 minutes. The rise of internet use in Indonesia is not undergirded by a good quality connection in utilizing this form of information technology. The use of the Internet in Indonesia, the majority of which is used for social media and lifestyle, is also overshadowed by alarming crime and abuse rates. Keeping these observations in mind, this paper will highlight the values that influence the mindset, attitudes and behavior of internet users from the standpoint of Christian ethics, namely in terms of authenticity of relations, information processing, truth authority, and user identity and integrity. Abstract

Gereja dalam Perjanjian Baru adalah gereja di rumah. Mengapa murid-murid Yesus dan Paulus menggunakan rumah untuk kegiatan gereja? Mereka menggunakan rumah karena rumah adalah unit sosial, ekonomi dan religius. Ibadah dan pengajaran rohani biasa diadakan dalam rumah-rumah pada waktu itu. Karena fungsi sosial dan ekonominya, rumah juga membuka kontak dan komunikasi bagi para penginjil untuk memberitakan tentang Injil Yesus Kristus kepada jaringan sosial rumah di mana mereka melayani. Dengan demikian murid-murid Yesus dan Paulus telah melakukan upaya kontekstual yang cerdas dengan menggunakan rumah untuk membangun komunitas Kristen sekaligus pekabaran Injil. Terbukti kekristenan diterima secara luas dengan pendekatan gereja di rumah ini di tiga abad pertama sejarah kekristenan. Kata-kata kunci: Kontekstualisasi, Gereja Rumah, Oikos, Komunitas Kristen, Pekabaran Injil   The churches in New Testament times met together within houses. Why did Jesus’ disciples and Paul utilize the house for the church’s activities? They did so because the house was the foundational unit pertaining to the social, economic and religious structures of society. The house was a common place that could be used for worship and religious teaching. Moreover, because of the social and economic functions of the household, the house provided a sphere of easy interaction and communication with others in order to evangelize them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Thus, the disciples and Paul are facilitating contextualized structures in their use of the house unit for the building of Christian community and evangelization. This effectiveness can be evidenced by the wide acceptance of Christianity throughout the first three centuries of Christianity. Abstract

Ilustrasi sebagai unsur sebuah khotbah selama ini dikenal memiliki peran untuk memperjelas sebuah ide, menarik perhatian pendengar, bahkan juga dapat menggerakkan emosi pendengar. Sekalipun berdasarkan definisinya ilustrasi dapat memiliki berbagai bentuk, tetapi tidak semua bentuk itu memberikan pengaruh yang sama. Ilustrasi yang berbentuk cerita memiliki keunggulan dibandingkan dengan bentuk-bentuk yang lain. Tulisan ini menggali keunggulan dari ilustrasi yang berbentuk cerita berdasarkan studi yang pernah dilakukan berkaitan dengan bagaimana sebuah informasi dapat dengan lebih mudah dipahami oleh penerimanya. Berdasarkan pemahaman tentang cara kerja otak manusia, bagaimana manusia berkomunikasi, bagaimana manusia belajar, bahkan pengamatan dalam khotbah sendiri, menunjukkan bahwa ilustrasi yang berbentuk cerita dapat menjadi alat yang efektif dalam penyampaian sebuah kebenaran. Kata-kata kunci: Khotbah, Ilustrasi, Ilustrasi yang Berbentuk Cerita, Otak Manusia, Komunikasi, Teori Belajar, Generals, Particulars An illustration as an element of a sermon has been known to play a role in clarifying an idea, attracting the attention of listeners, and to even move the emotions of the listeners. Even though, by definition, illustrations can take various forms, not all of them have the same effect. Illustrations in the form of stories have certain advantages compared to other forms of illustrations. This paper explores the advantages of illustrations in the form of stories based on studies that have been conducted in relation to how information can be more easily understood by recipients. Based upon an understanding of how the human brain works, how humans communicate, how humans learn, and even observations about the sermon being preached, shows that illustrations in the form of stories can be effective tools for conveying a truth. Abstract

The story of Jesus’ encounter with two disciples on the journey to Emmaus is a unique story, among which is the story contains the question: what really made two disciples not recognize Jesus?, and why after inviting Jesus to their home, the identity of Jesus was recognized. Many solutions have been offered to answer these complicated problems, but it seems that the answers proffered are less than convincing. According to the author, the Emmaus story must be seen from the entire book of Luke and Acts because in this episode there are important themes scattered throughout Luke’s two writings. The two disciples are representatives of Jews who cannot understand that the Messiah must suffer, be crucified, and be resurrected. What made them recognize Jesus again was when Jesus entertained them to eat? It was because it reminded them of a similar event before Jesus’ death and at the same time referred to the role of Yahweh as the host of His OT people and the hope of an eschatological meal. In the end, the theme of this dining table fellowship became important in the Acts of the Apostles in relation to Jewish and Gentile relations within the early church. Keywords: Emmaus, Motif of Ignorance, Table Fellowship, Rejected Messiah Cerita perjumpaan Yesus dengan dua murid dalam perjalanan ke Emaus merupakan kisah yang unik, di antaranya adalah kisah ini mengandung pertanyaan: apa yang sesungguhnya membuat dua murid tidak mengenali Yesus dan mengapa setelah mengundang Yesus ke rumah mereka, identitas Yesus tersingkapkan. Banyak solusi telah coba untuk ditawarkan untuk menjawab persoalan pelik ini, namun sepertinya jawaban-jawaban itu kurang meyakinkan. Menurut penulis, kisah Emaus harus dilihat dari keseluruhan kitab Lukas dan Kisah Para Rasul karena di dalam episode ini termaktub tema-tema penting yang tersebar di sepanjang dua tulisan Lukas itu. Dua murid merupakan perwakilan orang Yahudi yang tidak dapat memahami bahwa Mesias harus menderita, disalibkan, dan dibangkitkan. Yang membuat mereka mengenal kembali Yesus adalah ketika Yesus menjamu mereka makan, karena itu mengingatkan peristiwa yang serupa sebelum kematian Yesus sekaligus merujuk pada peran Yahweh sebagai penjamu umat-Nya dalam PL dan harapan akan jamuan eskatologis. Pada akhirnya, tema persekutuan meja makan ini menjadi penting dalam Kisah Para Rasul dalam kaitan dengan relasi Yahudi dan non Yahudi dalam gereja mula-mula. Abstract

Di satu sisi, penekanan modernisme pada rasionalitas dan historisitas telah menghasilkan kristologi yang kritis-objektif. Di sisi lain, pascamodernisme yang berepistemologi pluralis menghasilkan kristologi yang subjektif. Menanggapi dan menjembatani dua sisi persoalan ini, pendekatan hermeneutis redemptive-historical diajukan sebagai pendekatan alternatif injili. Pendekatan yang berpusat pada Kristus sebagai kulminasi sejarah penebusan (seperti yang disaksikan Alkitab) ini mengaitkan tiga horizon yaitu: textual, epochal, dan canonical untuk menginterpretasikan teks Kitab Suci secara holistik. Pendekatan ini menganalisis sintaksis, konteks sastra, konteks sejarah dan genre-nya (textual horizon), mengaitkannya dengan sejarah penebusan (epochal horizon), dan melihatnya dalam terang keutuhan kanon (canonical horizon). Penggabungan ketiga unsur tersebut menekankan dinamika pemenuhan janji Allah dalam kulminasi tersebut. Dengan demikian, pendekatan hermeneutis redemptive historical dapat mengarahkan orang Kristen pembacaan dan penafsiran Alkitab yang kristosentris. Kata-kata kunci: Pendekatan Redemptive-Historical, Epistemologi, Kristologi Modern Kristologi Pascamodern, Hermeneutika Injili Kristosentris On the one hand, the emphasis of modernism on rationality and historicity has produced a critical-objective Christology. On the other hand, post-modernism with a pluralist epistemology produces subjective Christology. Responding to, and bridging the two sides of this problem, the redemptive-historical hermeneutical approach is proposed as an alternative evangelical approach. The Christ-centered approach as the culmination of the history of redemption (as witnessed to in the Bible) links three horizons, namely: textual, epochal, and canonical to interpret the text of the Scriptures holistically. This approach analyzes syntax, literary context, historical context and its genre (textual horizon), links it to the history of redemption (epochal horizon), and sees it in the light of the canon (canonical horizon). The combination of these three elements emphasizes the dynamic fulfillment of God’s promises. Thus, the historical redemptive hermeneutical approach can lead Christians to read and interpret the Christocentric Bible.
