Abstract

Gross motor development involves body movements that engage large muscles, such as sitting, walking, and running. Participation in motor activities is crucial for a child's development. Through active physical activities, children can enhance their gross motor skills. One approach to developing these skills is through traditional games. However, with the advancement of science and technology, children tend to be more interested in and easily access gadget games rather than traditional games. This shift has led to a lack of social interaction among children and limitations in the development of gross motor skills. Recognizing this phenomenon, researchers conducted a literature review to identify the important role of traditional games in improving children's gross motor skills. This study employed a literature review or literature survey method, utilizing supplementary data from previous research with a similar topic. Data collection was conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) method. The findings of the literature review concluded that traditional games can provide a solution for enhancing the development of children's gross motor skills.

Abstract

This article aims to explore the application of Project-Based Learning (PJBL) models in the course of stage management and to examine the global perspective regarding its implementation. In the context of the stage management course, PJBL can serve as an effective tool to involve students in practical and in-depth learning experiences. The implementation steps of the PJBL model are as follows: Firstly, the selection of challenging and relevant projects or tasks related to the field of stage management is carried out. Secondly, instructional planning is developed, including learning objectives, schedules, resources, and assessments. Subsequently, students are divided into working teams that will collaborate to complete the project. The learning process revolves around the project, with the instructor playing the role of a facilitator and guide. Through the implementation of the PJBL model, students are provided with opportunities to develop managerial skills, team collaboration, problem-solving, and more. Students also have the chance to learn from real experiences and apply management theories learned in practical situations. Furthermore, global competencies are also honed through this implementation, achieved by integrating elements of multiculturalism and cultural diversity within the given projects. In conclusion, the implementation of the PJBL model in the stage management course demonstrates significant potential in enhancing student engagement and facilitating deeper learning experiences. Taking a global perspective into account, this model can help students prepare themselves to face real-world challenges in the field of stage management.

Abstract

English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) is a term used for learning activities where English is used as the main language. This approach is widely adopted by bilingual schools as it allows learners to learn both their first and second language at the same time. While EMI has many advantages, the impact of this method on children's first and second language acquisition remains largely unknown. Therefore, through a case study, this research aims to examine the effect of EMI on children's first and second language acquisition in bilingual schools. This research will be conducted in a school that applies EMI in the Purwokerto area, namely Tiga Bahasa Putera Harapan School, with a sample of grade 3 students and teachers as respondents. This sample is randomly selected using a convenience sampling technique. Data for this study will be obtained through observations, speaking tests in Indonesian and English, and interviews. The results of this study show that there is no significant difference between the average English score (85.47) and Indonesian score (84.76) of students taught using EMI. Despite its status as an international standard school, national values and love for the country are still instilled through various curricular and co-curricular activities. This shows that with proper management, EMI does not affect the first and second language acquisition of children attending bilingual schools. To improve children's English proficiency, English needs to be introduced early through environmental conditioning that supports the use of English in daily life.

Abstract

This study investigated the initial critical thinking skills of grade five students on plant materials and explored a suitable learning model solution method for the students' conditions. The study used a preliminary design and a critical thinking skills test instrument to collect data. The results showed that students' critical thinking skills varied widely, with none of the students scoring in the very good category, 11.00% of students scoring in the good category, 58.00% of students scoring in the fair category, 26.00% of students scoring in the poor category, and 5.00% of students scoring in the very poor category. These findings suggest that students need more support to develop their critical thinking skills, particularly in the areas of deduction, inference, and evaluation of arguments. Future researchers could design learning tools using specific learning methods/models to address these areas and improve students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

In an era where digital technology is pivotal, the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education has become a focal point of research and discussion. This comprehensive literature review aims to bridge the gap in understanding the multifaceted impact of ICT on educational paradigms. The study delves into the transformative influence of ICT on teaching methodologies, the democratization of educational access, and the overall quality of learning experiences. Methodologically, this review synthesizes diverse academic sources, including empirical studies, theoretical frameworks, and case analyses. By integrating a broad spectrum of research findings, it provides a holistic view of the evolving educational landscape shaped by ICT. The study adopts a critical approach, weighing the advantages against the inherent challenges of ICT in education. The main findings reveal that ICT has revolutionized educational practices by introducing innovative teaching tools and methodologies. Digital platforms and resources have facilitated a more interactive, student-centered learning environment, enhancing engagement and comprehension. Moreover, ICT has played a crucial role in democratizing education, providing greater access to learning resources and opportunities, especially in underprivileged and remote areas. This aspect of ICT aligns with global educational equity goals, aiming to bridge the digital divide and create a more inclusive educational system. The review concludes that while ICT offers substantial benefits in reshaping education, a strategic and balanced approach is necessary. This approach should focus on mitigating digital inequality, ensuring continuous professional development for educators, and fostering an environment conducive to the effective integration of ICT. Future research directions include exploring the long-term impacts of ICT in education, particularly in developing countries, and examining the sustainability of technology-driven educational models.

Abstract

In the current condition, it is important for parents to be open and ready to discuss the topic of sexuality with their children due to easy access to information through technology and to prevent sexual abuse. Parents need to be responsive in answering their children's questions about sexuality, provide accurate information that is appropriate to their children's understanding, and teach positive values related to sexuality. Comprehensive sexual education at school is also important to provide correct understanding and help children develop healthy attitudes towards sexuality. This study aims to explain how to approach sex education for elementary school children in the digital era in order to provide a comprehensive understanding of good and bad sexual knowledge and help children develop a positive attitude towards sexuality. The research method used qualitative observation and literature review techniques. The results show the need for comprehensive and responsive implementation of sexual education by parents and teachers. Parents need to be open and ready to talk about sexuality with their children. In contrast, schools need to provide sexual education that is appropriate for children's level of understanding, provide accurate information, teach positive values related to sexuality, and help children develop a healthy attitude towards sexuality.
