Abstract

This article describes about the network of “eloping” located in Padang. Eloping is often be an alternativefor some married couples who obstructed due to various factors, such as parent’s disagree, polygamy withoutpermission, or the difficulty of the affairs of marriage because of custom. Padang is a place for some coupleselope. Initial search showed that there are at least two areas that are often targeted, namely Lubuk Buaya andBungus Teluk Kabung. The marriage certificate obtained from this process is the original marriage certificateissued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. However, KUA address listed in most cases are not in Padang, butin districts located in Kerinci, Jambi. This fact indicates that the network actors are quite strong in Padang.Based on that need to be asked: what kind of elopement network that built up in Padang? Who are the actors?How does it work patterns? And how the government's response to this issue? To answer this question, the datawere collected through interviews, observation and document study. As an initial step, this article presents thedescriptive data and qualitative analysis.

Abstract

Shaykh Sulayman al-Rasuli (1871-1970 AD) was consistent scholar of Minangkabau to maintain i'tiqadAhl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah and the Shafi'i school. He was known as a master scholar of fiqh and becamehead of the first Syar'iyah Court in Central Sumatra (based in Bukittinggi). He was also mentioned aspioneer of Islamic Education. His pioneer can be seen from two things. First, as practitioner of education.He taught and led the MTI Canduang. While teaching, he accepted and practiced the educational reform inthe form of: 1) the model learned from one book into many books to understand specific areas of knowledge;2) change of Halaqah system at the mosque became a system of class in madrassas. Secondly, as a thinker ofIslamic Education. His thought can be found in some of his writings, related to human nature, the purpose ofeducation, materials, educators, learners, methods, and informal education. When constructed madrassah andwrote down his thoughts, he always approached Minangkabau’s culture. Therefore he was worth mentionedthe cultural figure of Islamic education.

Abstract

Muhammad Syahrur bin Daib, insinyur teknik sipil kelahiran Syria ini adalah seorang yangpernah menggoncangkan dunia pemikiran Arab sekitar dua dekade lalu. Ia merupakan sosok yangmengagumkan bagi sebagian orang, tetapi menakutkan bagi yang lain. Ia dikagumi karena, walaupuntidak memiliki basis keilmuan formal dalam studi Islam, namun mampu memberikan tawaran yangcukup radikal dalam studi-studi keislaman, bahkan ia sempat dinilai sebagai eksponen utama pembaruanhukum Islam karena gagasannya yang sangat revolusioner dan inovatif itu. Seorang Syahrur mampubertahan melakukan riset--yang kemudian ia sebut sebagai pembacaan kritis--terhadap al-Qur'an hampir20 tahun. Upaya yang sama belum tentu dapat dilakukan oleh mereka yang tamatanan perguruan tinggi Islam atau studi-studi keislaman. Di sisi lain,gagasannya cukup ditakuti karena "mengancam"bangunan hukum Islam dan studi-studi keislamanyang selama ini dianggap sudah mapan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berangkat dari fakta bahwa, pondok pesantren selalunya dikaitkan dan bahkan diidentikandengan berbagai bentuk pemikiran ekstrim dan tindakan radikal atas nama agama. Sehingga banyakkalangan ditengah-tengah masyarakat yang memiliki prasangka sosial terhadap keberadaan pondok pesantren.Sungguhpun demikian penelitian ini bertuujuan melihat hubungan antara prasangka sosial dan prilakumemberontak di kalangan santri Pondok Pesantren Modern Gontor Darussalam (PMDG) di Jawa Timur.Tiga teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah : (1) Teori prasangka soosial. (2) Teori pemberontakan(khususnya dalam konteks remaja) mengingat para santri umumnya tergolong dalam kategori remaja. Populasipenelitian ini sebanyak 2067 orang santri. Sungguh demikian sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 335orang. Adapun formula yang digunakan untuk mengukur besaran ukuran sampel adalah : n = N/1+e.Penarikan sampel dilakukan menggunakan simple stratified random sampling. Adapun teknik pengumpulandata dilakukan dengan skala psikologi dan kuesioner serta studi dokumentasi. Semenatara teknik analisa datadengan menggunakan pearson correlation (product momment) untuk melihat hubungan antara variabel.Hasil penelitian ini mendapati tidak adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara prasangka sosial dan prilakumemberontak dikalnagan para santri di ponpes PMDG. Hal ini dibuktikan melalui perolehan nilai r = 0.328. dan t = 1,64 serta p (value) = 0.90 > 0.05.

Abstract

ir Sayyid Ahmad Khan was an Indian Muslim leaders with a view of the famous modernist intellectualwho stamped as secularist because he tended to rationality and naturalism. Beside as a political activist whopioneered the birth of Pakistan, he was also a thinker as well as a modernist of Islamic education in India.One of his important ideas of Islamic education was to combine the concept of western-modern sciences andIslamic studies. This combination system of education is one of the tops in the Muslim world. Nowdays, thesystem is widely adopted by contemporary Islamic educational institutions with each version. The purposes ofthis pattern are not only to produce Muslim intellectuals are experts in the field of modern science and catch upwith the West, but also individuals who are resilient in Islam. This paper analyzes the results of his experimentsand sees the effect on the dynamics of Islamic education up to now. Among the things that were observed fromthis system is criticism in learning science studies are actually good, but it does not filter frame of a typicalWestern uphold the principle of secularism, positivism and materialism. It accused can make scientific Muslimintellectuals but materialist and westernist.

Abstract

This article contains the urgency of pluralistic Islamic education at schools. In common, the function of educationis an attempt to change the paradigm and social conditions of society towards a better, including the Islamiceducation. In the context of a multicultural and multiethnic country such as Indonesia, the education whichbased on pluralism becomes a necessity. This is understandable when seeing the reality in which the violence inthe name of religion is still rife in this country. The behavior shows, when the education is defined as a processof value’s transformation, education has not succeeded in creating students who are ready to accept diversity,especially diversity of religions and beliefs. This is where Islamic education is considered as an important role. Onthis reason, the article contains a conceptual study is presented for the purpose of presenting the limits and purposesof research to find an educational approach, teaching methods, and the competence of Islamic education teachersinsightful pluralism. Here are a few approaches that can be used, namely the multi perspectives’ approaches,historical approaches, sociological, psychological, aesthetic, dialogical, reflective and expressive approaches. Themethod can be used, among others: the exemplary methods, harvesting, work in group, brainstorming, andcase studies. In terms of competence, teachers who have the ability to teach pluralism are teachers who has anopen attitude, tolerance, active, and able to a ccept differences.

Abstract

This article elaborated on the Islamic educational thought of Sheikh Sulaiman Arrasuli or known as InyiakCanduang. Shaykh Sulayman Arrasuli was an Islamic education leaders as one of “Kaum Tuo”, a group ofscholars who try to maintain local traditions without banging with the Islamic teaching. This group of scholarsis usually perceived as a traditional circles that are not in line with the ideas of progress. This study wanted torefute the common perception that develop in the community. In this study can be found that although InyiakCanduang was a traditionalist, but that does not mean he was anti-progress, even his thoughts were moreprogressive, although he concepted from clasical books. In this case, he is a smart scholar in dialogue betweentraditions, religions, and the demands of the era.

Abstract

The resistance of Minangkabau’s scholars against colonial policy of education in the early of 20th centurystarted from a scientific study has revealed that the pre-conditions that led to the birth of the movement is thepenetration of the colonial government against the people in this area and plan the implementation of policiesin the field of education, namely Ordinance 1928 and teachers’ Ordinance in 1932. This historical experiencewas seen by scholars Minangkabau might impede the freedom and the rights to broadcast the Islamic religion.Various reactions appeared and Islamic ideology seems to be the main driving to oppose colonial rule relatedteachers’ ordinancy and illegal schools. The spirit of nationalism that was born at the beginning of the 20thcentury were also encouraged scholars to take the fight against the colonial policy. In line with this goal, thescholars utilizing the network that has been built on Islamic educational institutions in the past to build aresource (strength) and then to form a committee as institutional resistance. Resistance itself they did in theform of protests by the general meeting of Minangkabau’s scholars and then proceed with the delivery of voteof no confidence to the colonial government. The resistance impacted the emerging alliance of young and oldscholars, the birth of a radical political party in Minangkabau and the pressure of the colonial government
