JE (Journal of Empowerment) was formed based on the results of Suryakancana University Leaders Meeting on January 28, 2017, and was approved on April 8, 2017 in accordance with the Rector Decree Number 11 / SK / REK / UG / IV / 2017 regarding Appointment of Journal Manager of Community Service at Suryakancana University. The name of the Journal of Community Service is JE (Journal of Empowerment). JE (Journal of Empowerment), is a mean of developing science and technology in the exact and non-exact field through the publication of writing based on the results of community service (original). JE (Journal of Empowerment), is a periodic scientific journal published by Institute of Research and Community Service of Suryakancana University (LPPM UNSUR) twice a year in June and December. JE (Journal of Empowerment), has registered number ISSN 2580-0620 (print), and ISSN 2597-9809 (online). The first edition is Volume 1, Number. 1, June 2017. Abstract

Abstrak Keaksaraan fungsional merupakan aspek penting dalam peningkatan kualitas hidup masyarakat, terutama di daerah pedesaan yang masih menghadapi kesenjangan literasi. Program pengabdian ini bertujuan mengembangkan dan menguji aplikasi SUAR AKSARA sebagai instrumen digital untuk mengukur tingkat keaksaraan fungsional masyarakat di Kecamatan Cikalongwetan. Instrumen ini dirancang pada lima level, mulai dari membaca huruf, membaca suku kata berpola kv, membaca kata dua suku kata kvkv, membaca dua kata, membaca kalimat sederhana. Kegiatan dilakukan melalui sosialisasi, pelatihan, implementasi, pendampingan, serta evaluasi dengan melibatkan mahasiswa KKN Tematik dan masyarakat mitra. Hasil uji coba menunjukkan bahwa peserta relatif menguasai level dasar 91% (I1) dan 85% (I2), tetapi mengalami penurunan signifikan pada level kata kompleks (68%) dan kalimat sederhana (62%). Aplikasi SUAR AKSARA terbukti efektif, praktis, dan akurat dalam pemetaan literasi, serta bermanfaat bagi pemerintah daerah dalam merancang kebijakan literasi yang lebih tepat sasaran. Abstract Functional literacy is a crucial aspect of improving the quality of life, particularly in rural communities that still face literacy gaps. This community service program aims to develop and test the SUAR AKSARA application as a digital instrument to measure the functional literacy levels of communities in Cikalongwetan District. The instrument was designed across five levels, starting from reading letters, reading kv pattern syllables, reading kvkv two syllable words, reading two words, reading simple sentences. The program involved socialization, training, implementation, mentoring, and evaluation, engaging both thematic community service students and community partners. The trial results indicated that participants generally mastered the basic level of 91% (I1) and 85% (I2), but experienced a significant decline at the complex word (68%) and simple sentence (62%) levels. The SUAR AKSARA application proved to be effective, practical, and accurate in mapping literacy, and it provides useful data for local governments in designing more targeted literacy policies. This activity is expected to enable participants to create sustainable agricultural enterprreneurship.

Abstract

Abstrak Guru sekolah dasar berperan penting dalam menciptakan proses pembelajaran yang tidak hanya berorientasi pada pengetahuan, tetapi juga menumbuhkan refleksi dan kesadaran diri peserta didik. Dalam konteks ini, penguasaan teknik bercerita menjadi strategi efektif untuk menerapkan pembelajaran bermakna berbasis deep learning yang mendorong keterlibatan emosional dan pemaknaan pengalaman belajar. Namun, banyak guru belum memperoleh pelatihan yang membantu mereka memadukan storytelling dengan praktik reflektif guna mendukung kreativitas dan kesejahteraan emosional. Program pengabdian masyarakat “Bercerita untuk Jiwa” dirancang untuk menjawab kebutuhan pengembangan profesional guru sekolah dasar melalui pelatihan storytelling berbasis deep learning dan praktik self-healing. Kegiatan difokuskan pada empat aspek utama: pemahaman pembelajaran bermakna, keterampilan storytelling edukatif, integrasi nilai budaya lokal, serta penguatan kesejahteraan emosional. Dengan pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR), guru terlibat aktif dalam perencanaan, pelatihan, pendampingan, dan evaluasi, sedangkan data diperoleh melalui kuesioner pra–pasca pelatihan. Sebanyak 32 guru dari KKG Kolonel Masturi Cimahi berpartisipasi, dan hasil analisis menunjukkan peningkatan keterampilan pedagogis, kreativitas, dan keyakinan diri (Effect Size = 1,9 atau efek sangat besar). Pelatihan sederhana namun bermakna ini melahirkan karya cerita guru dan mendorong pengembangan soal kontekstual yang menciptakan pengalaman belajar lebih hidup dan relevan bagi siswa. Abstract Primary school teachers play a vital role in creating learning processes that go beyond knowledge acquisition by fostering students’ reflection and self-awareness. In this context, mastery of storytelling techniques serves as an effective strategy for implementing meaningful learning based on deep learning, which encourages emotional engagement and the construction of personal meaning. However, many teachers have not received adequate training to integrate storytelling with reflective practice that supports creativity and emotional well-being. The community service program “Bercerita untuk Jiwa” was designed to address the professional development needs of primary school teachers through deep learning-based storytelling training and self-healing practices. The activities focused on four main aspects: understanding meaningful learning, developing educational storytelling skills, integrating local cultural values, and strengthening emotional well-being. Using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, teachers were actively involved in planning, training, mentoring, and evaluation, while data were collected through pre- and post-training questionnaires. Thirty-two teachers from the Kolonel Masturi Teacher Working Group participated, and the analysis results showed improvements in pedagogical skills, creativity, and self-confidence (Effect Size = 1.9, indicating a very large effect). This simple yet meaningful training inspired teachers to produce original stories and develop contextual word problems, creating more engaging and relevant learning experiences for students.

Abstract

AbstrakKemampuan literasi—yang mencakup keterampilan dalam membaca dan memahami teks—merupakan aspek penting yang harus dimiliki oleh generasi muda, terutama anak-anak. Sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan kemampuan tersebut, diselenggarakanlah program “Teras Bahasa”. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan budaya literasi di kalangan generasi muda sekaligus memperkenalkan bahasa Inggris kepada masyarakat. Kegiatan ini terdiri dari empat tahap; survei lapangan, perumusan kegiatan, monitoring dan evaluasi kegiatan dan penyusunan laporan kegiatan. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 20 peserta. Evaluasi dilakukan menggunakan survei yang terdiri dari 10 item. Hasil dari evaluasi kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar peserta menganggap kegiatan “Teras Bahasa” sangat berguna dan patut dilakukan secara berkala. Para peserta juga mengusulkan agar “Teras Bahasa” melibatkan kegiatan-kegiatan yang lebih bervariasi seperti bedah film atau lomba storytelling yang bisa membuat para peserta tertarik untuk berdiskusi dan membaca. Abstract  Literacy skills—which include the ability to read and understand texts—are crucial for young people, especially kids. To improve these skills, the "Teras Bahasa" program was launched. This program aims to foster a culture of literacy among young people while introducing English to the community. This event consists of four stages: field surveys, activity formulation, monitoring and evaluation, and preparation of activity reports. The evaluation was conducted using a 10-item survey. The participants were 20 children from the area. The results of the activity evaluation showed that most participants considered the "Teras Bahasa" program very useful and worth conducting regularly. Participants also suggested that "Teras Bahasa" include more varied activities, such as film reviews or storytelling competitions that can encourage the participants to discuss and read.

Abstract

Abstract         Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan komunitas perempuan perajin di Desa Bojong, Kabupaten Cianjur melalui inovasi teknik ecoprint berbasis desain interior. Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi mitra adalah keterbatasan inovasi produk dan minimnya kemampuan pemasaran digital. Melalui pelatihan ecoprint lanjutan, workshop desain interior, dan pendampingan digital marketing, kegiatan ini berhasil meningkatkan keterampilan teknis, kualitas produk, serta jangkauan pasar mitra. Hasil program menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kreativitas perajin hingga 80% dan peningkatan omzet sebesar 75%. Program ini juga memperkuat peran perempuan dalam ekonomi kreatif berkelanjutan dan pelestarian lingkungan melalui penggunaan teknik ramah lingkungan. Kegiatan ini diharapkan menjadi model pemberdayaan masyarakat berbasis seni dan teknologi yang dapat direplikasi di daerah lain. AbstractThis community service program aims to empower a group of female artisans in Bojong Village, Cianjur Regency, through innovative eco-print techniques applied to interior design products. The main challenges faced by the partners were limited product innovation and a lack of digital marketing skills. Through advanced eco-print training, interior design workshops, and digital marketing assistance, this project successfully improved technical skills, product quality, and market access. The results show an 80% increase in creative capacity and a 75% rise in sales turnover. This program also strengthens women’s roles in sustainable creative economies and environmental preservation by using eco-friendly production methods. The initiative is expected to serve as a replicable model of community empowerment that integrates art and technology.
