Abstract

The study aims at investigating the economic and non-economic impact of tourism activities at Pantai Lampuuk, located in Aceh Besar on the community welfare. We employ descriptive analysis based on responded quesionnaires with a total sampel of 30 respondents and conduct in-depth interview with some of the respondents. We find that there is an increase in income substantially after joining tourism business as retailers for consumable foods and providers for accommodation and tourism facilities. Almost fifty percent of the total respondents earn more than IDR 4 millions monthly after getting involved in the business. Monthly spending on staple also drives up approximately more than IDR million, indicating better standard of living.  Moreover, greater access to education and healthier lives are attributable to an increase in income by which parents are able to send their children to higher education, provide good supply of foods and can access to better health services. Based on these positive impacts of tourism, we recommend that the local government to invest more public funds to provide infrastructures in order for domestic and international travelers to get better access to tourism services.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the shift in the economic sector of Aceh Besar district and determine dominant sector. This study uses secondary data time series (time series) of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GDP) of Aceh Besar and Aceh province in 2008-2010 and 2011-2013. The analytical tool used Klassen Tipology and Location Quotient (LQ). Based on the research results, Tipology Klassen analysis indicates that there has been a shift in the economic sector of Aceh Besar district where the agricultural sector as well as transport and communications sector earlier in the period 2008-2010 are in quadrant II (stagnant sector) in 2011-2013 has shifted to Quadrant IV (underdeveloped sector). Building and construction sector; hotel and restaurant trade and Services sector moved from quadrant I (developed sector) to quadrant II (stagnantsector). Location Quotient (LQ) shows a shift in the agriculture sector; Building and construction, trade, hotels and restaurants; Transport and communications; Finance, real estate and business services as well as services, from the basic sector into the non base. The economic sector that is still the basis of the sector in the economy of Aceh Besar regency are the building sector and construction. The local government of Aceh Besar district in order to keep attention to the development of the economic sectors as consideration for the economic development of the region to provide high impact for the improvement of people's income and employment.

Abstract

This paper aims to identify and analyze the effect of government spending, exports, road infrastructure and population on national income. The data used are secondary data and using time series data for the period 1995 to 2012 taken from various relevant agencies. The analytical method used is quantitative descriptive method using multiple linear regression analysis model. Based on the findings, the government spending, exports, road infrastructure and population positively effect on Indonesia's national income. Therefore, it can be recommended to the Government of Indonesia in order to increase government spending, exports, and expanding the road infrastructure across Indonesia.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the interaction between IHSG, portfolio investment, BI rate and exchange rate to understand which variable has more dominant factors onto the others. Restricted VAR was employed to test the hypothesis. Data was quarterly from 1997:Q3 to 2013:Q4. The empirical results showed that all variables have bi-directional causality. More significant correlation could be observed between IHSG and portfolio investment and exchange rate; portfolio investment is significantly correlated with IHSG, BI rate and exchange rate; BI rate has significant effect on the volatility of IHSG and portfolio investment; and exchange rate significantly affected portfolio investment. Monetary policies was considered effective to affect IHSG, portfolio investment and exchange rate, implying that the authority should maintain the stability of BI rate.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the factors that cattles farmers income in Montasik, subdistrict of  Aceh Besar, where the independent variables are capital, sales volume and selling price of beef cattle. The research location is in  Aceh Besar district Montasik 2014. The data used are primary data with interview to ask directly the list of questions (questionnaire) to 71 respondents cattle ranchers who are in Lampaseh Krueng, Reudep and Seumet, District Montasik. The model used in this research is multiple linear regression model with ordinary least square (OLS). Results were analyzed using SPSS version 16 showed that the factors of sales volume and selling prices, and a significant positive effect on the income while the capital factor but not significant positive effect on income. While simultaneously variable capital, sales volume and selling prices affects income. Based on the results of the study are expected to be able to increase the income of farmers, especially in the capital and sales volume factors.
