Abstract

This study explores how strategic leadership can drive institutional transformation towards excellence in Islamic higher education. A qualitative research approach with an ethnographic orientation was adopted, conducted at UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, Indonesia, over the course of one year, particularly during the university’s national accreditation preparation. Data were collected through three primary methods: participant observation in leadership meetings and quality assurance activities, in-depth interviews with 14 key informants (including university leaders, lecturers, and accreditation staff), and document analysis of institutional strategic plans and accreditation reports. Data analysis employed an inductive thematic procedure, in which interview transcripts, field notes, and institutional documents were analysed to identify emerging themes. The findings reveal that strategic leadership was realised through three key pillars: clear visionary direction, participatory management, and the integration of Islamic humanistic values into institutional governance. Despite facing challenges such as structural fragmentation, limited financial resources, and cultural resistance to change, leadership succeeded in mobilising collective commitment and aligning organisational efforts with accreditation goals. As a result, the university achieved the highest national accreditation rating (A). This study contributes theoretically by contextualising strategic leadership within faith-based educational settings in the Global South and highlighting the importance of moral authority, inclusive communication, and organisational synergy. Practically, the findings offer valuable insights for Islamic university leaders seeking to foster excellence under constrained conditions.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the implementation of the Arabic Language Education (PBA) curriculum at Universitas KH. A. Wahab Hasbullah (UNWAHA), with reference to the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI), and to formulate revitalization strategies that are adaptive to the demands of the industrial world and the developments in contemporary scholarship. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach within a case study type of evaluative study design. Data were collected through curriculum document analysis and review of the Semester Learning Plans (RPS), in-depth interviews with six lecturers responsible for core courses, and observations of instructional practices in three different classes. The research subjects consisted of sixth-semester students, while the data analysis was conducted using descriptive-analytic methods. The study finds that while the Arabic Language Education curriculum aligns normatively with KKNI level 6 outcomes, several implementation issues remain. These include mismatches between CPL and RPS indicators, limited integration of 21st-century skills, overreliance on teacher-centered methods, low use of digital technologies, and weak stakeholder involvement. To address these, proposed strategies include reformulating graduate profiles based on global and local job market needs, developing RPS using Outcome-Based Education (OBE), improving lecturers’ digital teaching skills, and establishing a collaborative forum with stakeholders such as pesantren, translation agencies, and Islamic media. This reform is urgent to produce graduates who are adaptive, competent, and relevant to current professional demands.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the actualization of Mohammad Natsir’s Islamic education ideas in the transformation of learning at Pesantren Persatuan Islam (Persis), specifically at PPI 1 Pajagalan located in Bandung City and PPI 31 Banjaran in Bandung Regency. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a literature and case study approach. This research uses primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained through a literature review of Natsir's works, as well as through interviews with curriculum managers and santri (student’s), direct observation of the learning process, and documentation of learning activities in both pesantren. Meanwhile, secondary data include scientific journals, books, and articles relevant to the research topic. Data analysis techniques used the Miles and Huberman model, as well as source and technique triangulation to maintain data validity. The results show that Mohammad Natsir's Islamic education ideas are well actualized in PPI 1 Pajagalan through a curriculum that integrates the values of tawhid, worship, science, and skills. Meanwhile, at PPI 31 Banjaran, although it does not explicitly refer to Natsir, the values that align with his thoughts are applied in the transformation of learning, especially in strengthening character and scientific integration. In conclusion, Natsir's educational thought is reflected in the learning system in both pesantren through a balanced combination of spiritual, intellectual, and practical aspects, in line with the principles of holistic Islamic education.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically review and analyze the trends in the use of the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model across various educational programs, as well as its strengths, weaknesses, and recommendations for implementation. The research employed a systematic literature review method, consisting of four stages: identification, selection, eligibility assessment, and inclusion. Article searches were conducted through Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and SpringerLink using the keyword “CIPP model of education evaluation,” resulting in 833 articles. Most of these articles were published in international journals and conference proceedings from various countries. After applying the inclusion criteria, 26 articles were selected that specifically discussed the application of the CIPP model in education. The findings indicate that the CIPP model is widely used as a comprehensive and flexible evaluation framework, especially in Asia, between 2019 and 2025. It is effective in assessing program context, resource input, implementation processes, and outcomes. However, challenges include the complexity of mixed-method data analysis and the need for skilled evaluators. This review recommends modularizing evaluation instruments, providing standardized training for evaluators, integrating digital technology, adapting local indicators, and developing flexible policy support. These strategies aim to enhance the relevance, efficiency, and impact of the CIPP model in education evaluation practices.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the principal’s role and organizational commitment on teachers’ work motivation in public elementary schools in Boja District, Kendal Regency. Employing a quantitative approach with an ex post facto survey design, data were collected from 103 teachers selected through stratified random sampling from a total population of 138 teachers across 16 public elementary schools. The primary data source comprised teacher responses to validated Likert-scale questionnaires measuring three variables: the principal’s role, organizational commitment, and teacher work motivation. Data analysis, conducted using SPSS 26, included Pearson product-moment correlation to assess the strength of bivariate relationships, simple linear regression to evaluate the individual influence of each independent variable, and multiple linear regression to examine their combined effect. Hypothesis testing was performed at a significance level of α = 0.05 to determine the statistical validity of each relationship. The results indicated that the principal’s role had a significant positive influence on teacher motivation, accounting for 22.7% of the variance, while organizational commitment had a slightly greater influence, contributing 24.4%. When analyzed simultaneously, both variables explained 32.8% of the variance in teacher motivation, demonstrating a moderately strong and statistically significant combined effect. These findings underscore the importance of enhancing school leadership and cultivating organizational commitment as strategic efforts to improve teacher motivation—an essential factor in sustaining teacher performance and advancing educational outcomes.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Arabic language instruction as a medium for internalizing worship values through the Takhassus Program at MTsN 3 Jombang. The research data comprise Arabic learning activities directly integrated with students’ daily worship routines, such as ablution (wudhu), prayer, dhikr, and the use of Arabic expressions in everyday communication. The data sources include primary data from participant observation and in-depth interviews with 10 seventh-grade students, 2 Arabic teachers, and 1 principal, as well as secondary data such as program documents, lesson plans, and school archives. A qualitative case study design was employed, with purposive sampling to select informants directly involved in the program. Data collection combined participant observation, interviews, and documentation, while data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model: data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that Arabic instruction is functionally embedded in students’ worship practices, positioning the language as both a communicative and devotional tool. This integration is strengthened by teacher modeling and the school’s spiritual climate, supporting the internalization of worship values. The study contributes theoretically by framing Arabic as a value-based pedagogical instrument and practically by offering a contextual, replicable model for Islamic schools. Although challenges exist, such as limited time and difficulties understanding classical texts, these are addressed through extracurricular activities and traditional methods like sorogan and bandongan. Thus, Arabic language instruction linked to worship practice serves as a transformative approach for developing students’ moral and spiritual character in a sustainable way.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent of the relationship between the level of religious maturity and bullying behavior among high school students. Religious maturity is seen as an important indicator in shaping student behavior, especially in suppressing the tendency to commit aggressive acts, whether physically, verbally, psychologically, socially, or through digital media. The approach used in this study is a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The research data were collected using a Likert scale questionnaire, 1–4, containing indicators of religious maturity and various forms of bullying behavior. The research sample was 115 grade XI students at SMAN 4 Sukabumi City who were selected proportionally through stratified random sampling techniques from a total population of 161 students. Data analysis was carried out by validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, and hypothesis testing using simple linear regression analysis. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant influence of the level of religious maturity and bullying behavior. The regression model obtained showed that religious maturity contributed 64% to the bullying behavior variable. This finding strengthens the assumption that the higher the level of religious maturity of students, the lower their tendency to engage in bullying behavior. This study recommends strengthening religious education that emphasizes understanding and experiencing spiritual values as a preventive strategy against deviant behavior in the school environment.
