Journal of Contemporary Accounting (JCA) is a peer-reviewed journal published three times a year (January-April, May-August, and September-December) by Master in Accounting Program, Faculty of Economics, Universitas Islam Indonesia. Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the organizational factors, auditor opinion and the role of internal auditor in banking industry to detect fraud in Indonesia. Observation data in this study are the years from 2013 to 2017. This study is an empirical study and the data are selected by using sampling technique. Observation data in this study are as many as 45, and are processed by using logistic regression analysis instrument. The dependent variable studied is fraud. Meanwhile, the corporate organizational factors are risk disclosure and independency of intern auditor function as well as independent auditor opinion. The testing result proofs that there is no corporate organizational variable and independent auditor opinion significantly affecting indication of fraud in banking company.

Abstract

Public accounting profession is one of prestigious and important professions in Indonesia. Recent data, however, show that the number of public accountants in Indonesia is very small compared to the population. Thus, accounting students’ perception regarding the public accounting profession needs to be investigated. This study aims to investigate the influence of accounting students’ perception of public accounting profession toward their interest to the public accounting profession. A sample of 100 students from three different universities in Indonesia were used as respondents. The results demonstrate that financial rewards, professional recognition, labour market considerations and professional training positively influence the interests of accounting students to become a public accountant. The results also indicate that working environment, social values and personality have no influences on accounting students’ interest to become a public accountant.

Abstract

This research is aimed to examine the factors that influence the compliance behaviour of MSME’s taxpayer. The variables refer to the theory of planned behaviour, which are attitude towards behaviour, subjective norms and perceived behavioural control that later its influence will be tested towards compliance behaviour in settling the tax. This research will test those factors simultaneously or partially. This research employed population of entire MSMEs that registered in The Cooperation Agency, Small and Middle Enterprises in Sleman Regency, Indonesia. While, the number of samples are obtained by employing slovin formula, which is 100 respondents that cover eight groups of business sector. Questionnaire is applied as data collection technique that employs data analysis method by applying multiple regression and SPSS version 16 as analysis tools. This research indicates that attitude towards behaviour, subjective norms, and perceived behavioural control, simultaneously and significantly influence the compliance behaviour of MSME’s taxpayer. Partially, variable of subjective norms and perceived behavioural control positively influence compliance behaviour of taxpayers in fulfilling their obligation in accomplishing the tax. While the variable of attitude towards behaviour is not positively influence the behaviour of taxpayer’s compliance.

Abstract

This research is aimed at investigating the empirical factors affecting the financial report transparency in the regional government of Papua province. The quantitative approach was used in this research. 92 comprehensive questionnaires were analyzed quantitatively. The double linear regression analysis shows that the financial report presentation, accessibility, and internal control significantly affect the financial report transparency in the regional government. This research implies important contribution that the empirical findings of the effect of financial report presentation, accessibility, and internal control system on the financial report transparency in the regional government are expected to foster constructive recommendations in the form of policy related to the financial report transparency in the regional government.

Abstract

The compliance in tax reporting of an individual taxpayer who is running business or having freelance job is one of the ways to maximize the tax revenue in Indonesia. This research aims to examine the factors that affect the tax reporting compliance of an individual taxpayer who is running business or having freelance work. The data were collected by distributing questionnaires. The regression model used in this study was multiple linear regression using SPSS. The sampling method was random sampling which involved 47 individual taxpayers who were already registered at Tax Service Office (KPP) Pratama Pontianak with an error rate of 5%. The result showed that level of awareness had positive and significant influence on tax reporting compliance of the individual taxpayers at KPP Pratama Pontianak who are running business and doing freelance work. Meanwhile, tax knowledge and tax sanction had no effect toward tax reporting compliance of the individual taxpayers running business and doing freelance work.
