Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of communication skills and mathematical creative thinking of junior high school students through tests of straight-line equation questions, and analyze the difficulties of students in solving problems in the matter of straight-line equations. The population in the study were all eighth grade students of Pasundan 1 Junior High School 1 Cimahi with a sample of 9 students in class VIII I who were taken using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique that is by taking samples from each strata proportionally randomly with the provisions of each of the 3 high-ability students , 3 students with moderate ability and 3 low-ability students. The research data was collected through a test of mathematical communication skills based on the indicators of 4 essay questions. The results showed students' mathematical communication skills of 34.4% included in the less category, while for creative thinking ability was 41% including sufficient categories. Based on the answer analysis students have been able to identify elements that are known and asked and stated them in mathematical symbols, able to identify the links between elements / data that are known and asked, only students have not been able to complete mathematical models and determine relevant solutions. Based on the results of the average questionnaire shows that students' self-confidence in mathematics learning can be categorized as being. These results are directly proportional to the results of tests of low mathematical communication skills and creative thinking abilities that are categorized sufficient.

Abstract

This research is useful to describe the low ability students in problem solving as well as errors of students in the matter of the story SPLDV and provide an alternative settlement. This research was carried out with the method of qualitative and descriptive indicators and analysis tailored to the problem solving based on the analysis of polya and using descriptive qualitative methods. The subject of this research totalled 33 learners class X SMK in Cimahi school year 2018/2019. The collection of data on research using the method of observation, test, and an interview. From the results of the tests and interviews it is known that the basic concept on reserved SPLDV students are still less so there is confusion in resolving the matter, because students can only understand the problem of 2.57%, drafting plans of 8.63%, making plans and corrects return of 15%, then the conclusion is that the problem-solving ability of the students of SMK owned is still low.

Abstract

This research is a descriptive study that aims to find out the difficulties faced by students in solving the problem of understanding mathematical concepts. Indicators of the ability to understand concepts as learning outcomes of mathematics are as follows: (1) The ability to restate a concept; (2) The ability to clarify objects according to certain characteristics in accordance with the concept; (3) Ability to give examples and not examples; (4) Ability to present concepts in various forms of mathematical representation; (5) Ability to develop necessary requirements or sufficient requirements from a concept; (6) Ability to use, utilize and choose certain procedures; (7) Ability to clarify concepts or algorithms to problem solving. The subject of this study was 80 students of class VIII SMP PGRI 1 Cimahi 2017/2018 school year. The instruments in this study included the ability test sheet to understand concepts and interview guidelines. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that students cannot arrange the meaning of words that are thought in the form of mathematical sentences, less careful, forgetfulness, less practice in working on the problems of storytelling with varying ones and lack of understanding the questions.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop local instruction theory on triangular and quadrilateral material and examine the improvement of mathematical representation ability by using local instruction theory. The method used in this research is design research method which includes three stages, namely: preliminary design, design experiment and retrospective analysis. The instruments in this study were in the form of tests and non-tests, where the tests used were aimed to determine the improvement of students' mathematical representation ability while non-tests such as interviews and observations were used to develop the local instruction theory. Subjects in this study were 40 junior high school students. The final result of this research is the development of local instruction theory teaching materials that can be used by the teacher to be used as a guide in teaching and the ability of students' mathematical representation in triangular and quadrilateral material is sufficiently increased

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this study was to analyze the mathematical connection ability of the students of Pasundan Middle School 1 Cimahi class VII-D in the school year 2018-2019. The subjects taken were 9 students with category 3 high-ability students, 3 moderate-capable students, and 3 low-ability students. The approach used in accordance with the 2013 curriculum is a scientific approach with discovery learning models. Data obtained from the results of student answers. The process of data analysis is the process of answering students on each question that measures indicators of students' mathematical communication skills. From the results of the study, it was found that high-ability students could master three indicators, namely using inter-collaborative mathematical relationships, using interrelationships between mathematical topics and topics outside mathematics, understanding equivalent representations of the same concepts. Students who are capable of mastering two indicators, namely using relationships between topics, understanding equivalent representations of the same concept. Low-ability students master an indicator that is understanding equivalent representations of the same concept. From the results of the study, it was found that high-ability students can master three indicators namely connecting images to mathematical ideas, expressing daily events in language or mathematical symbols and explaining the idea of situations and mathematical relations with images. Students who are capable of mastering two indicators namely connecting images into mathematical ideas, expressing daily events in language or mathematical symbols and explaining the idea of the situation. Low-ability students only master one indicator which is connecting images into mathematical ideas. On an attitude scale, students have high self-esteem. This can be viewed from the responses of students who respond more positively.Keywords: Connection Ability, Communication Ability, Self ConfidenceAbstrakTujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa SMP Pasundan 1 Cimahi kelas VII-D tahun pelajaran 2018-2019. Subjek yang diambil berjumlah 9 orang siswa dengan kategori 3 siswa berkemampuan tinggi, 3 siswa berkemampuan sedang, dan 3 siswa berkemampuan rendah. Pendekatan yang digunakan sesuai dengan kurikulum 2013 yaitu pendekatan saintifik dengan model pembelajaran discovery learning. Data diperoleh dari hasil jawaban siswa. Proses analisis data yaitu proses jawaban siswa pada setiap soal yang mengukur indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa siswa yang berkemampuan tinggi dapat menguasai tiga indikator yaitu menggunakan hubungan antartopik matematika, menggunakan keterkaitan antar topik matematika dengan topik diluar matematika, memahami representasi ekuivalen konsep yang sama. Siswa berkemampuan sedang menguasai dua indikator yaitu menggunakan hubungan antar topik, memahami representasi ekuivalen konsep yang sama. Siswa berkemampuan rendah menguasai satu indikator yaitu memahami representasi ekuivalen konsep yang sama. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa siswa yang berkemampuan tinggi dapat menguasai tiga indikator yaitu menghubungkan gambar ke dalam idea matematika, menyatakan peristiwa sehari-hari dalam bahasa atau symbol matematika dan menjelaskan idea situasi dan relasi matematik dengan gambar. Siswa berkemampuan sedang menguasai dua indikator yaitu menghubungkan gambar kedalam idea matematika, menyatakan peristiwa sehari-hari dalam bahasa atau symbol matematika dan menjelaskan idea situasi . Siswa berkemampuan rendah hanya menguasai satu indikator yaitu menghubungkan gambar kedalam idea matematika. Pada skala sikap, siswa memiliki rasa percaya diri yang tinggi. Hal ini dapat ditinjau dari respon siswa yang lebih banyak merespon positif.Kata Kunci: Kemampuan Koneksi, Kemampuan Komunikasi, Kepercayaan Diri
