Abstract

This research is motivated by the large number of students who experience learning barriers on trigonometry material. The obstacles that often occur in students when solving questions that are not routine such as questions in the form of stories. The purpose of this study is to analyze the epistemological obstacle of high school students on trigonometry material. The method of this research is a descriptive qualitative method with the subject of the study being students of class XI in one of the high schools in West Bandung with 27 students. The instrument used was a test in the form of a description of trigonometric material and interview guidelines. Data analysis techniques used are: Data reduction, data presentation and data verification. The results and discussion of this study is that the epistemological obstacle of high school students on trigonometry material occurs because of the limitations of students when solving non-routine problems. When students are given unusual questions, which are questions in the form of stories, students experience learning obstacles and tend to be unable to solve problems by completing. Students who are given ordinary or easy problems will make students difficult in working on questions in the form of stories. Students should be given problems in the form of problem solving, so students can think critically and will not have difficulties when given questions in the form of stories or problem solving.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic makes the learning/lecturing process carried out online to break the chain of spreading the coronavirus. One of the models that can be applied to online learning is blended learning by combining LMS and video conferences. The purpose of this study was to see how effective the use of blended learning is in improving student academic abilities through Schoology during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research design used the Non-Equivalent Control Group Design for 2 treatments (cycles), before and after the midterm exam. Techniques for data analysis using Normality-Gain Test (N-gain) and T-Test for two groups of independent samples. The N-gain value in the experimental class was 43.57% in the medium category, while in the control class the N-gain value was 4.55% in the low category. Based on the results of the t-test, it was obtained that the t-count value was 8.8367 and the t-table value was 2.030, because t-count > t-table there was a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class. So that the application of the blended learning model using Schoology can improve students' academic skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' difficulties in solving questions on statistics material. This research method uses qualitative methods with a qualitative approach. Processing data in this study using a percentage formula to see the difficulties experienced by students. Retrieval of data in this study used the results of the student answer test based on statistical question instruments with indicators of student achievement; 1) linking mathematical ideas into diagrams, 2) explaining mathematical ideas, situations, and mathematical relations orally or in writing with graphs and algebra, 3) expressing everyday events into language or mathematical symbols, 4) making mathematical models of situations and solving them, 5 ) compile questions about the statistics that have been studied. Based on the results of the study, the difficulty of students in solving questions on student statistics material was 83% still unable to connect mathematical ideas into diagrams and on the indicator r to explain ideas, situations, and mathematical relationships orally or in writing with graphics and algebra, which were not able to compose questions in accordance with what has been learned, as many as 88% of students still experience difficulties to compile a question including the high category. The contributing factor is that students have not been able to understand the basic concepts of statistics, on average students have difficulty understanding the meaning of the questions and it is difficult to determine how to solve the questions.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the mistakes made by students of grade IX Middle School. As well as analyzing the factors that cause students to mistake in completing the material on flat side spaces in junior high school students in Cimahi City. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The sample taken for this study was 10 students of class IX in one junior high school in Cimahi City. The test instrument was given as many as 5 items. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that there are errors in solving the problem of getting up the flat side space, namely: (1) not understanding the basic concept of building a flat side space; (2) lack of understanding of questions or lack of thoroughness in reading problems so students' answers are incomplete; (3) lack of mastery of the principle or conceptual relationship between flat figures (prerequisites regarding the Pythagorean theorem); (4) don't memorize the formula; (5) lack of precision in the calculation process. And this shows that grade IX students in Cimahi City are still low in solving problems in the material to build flat side spaces.
