Abstract

Manufacturing process need lot of man power for assembling parts process, but every year minimum of basic salary for man power always increase, however price product to customer increase not significant same as basic salary increase. Therefore management must think how to solve this problem, because if there is no counter measure profit, the company will face loss. There are at least three ways to counter measure this condition: first is by changing manual process for part assembling using automation system, second is to get the import parts from local supplier, and third is change import consumable tool to local supplier. This paper will explain about the process and impact of changing manual proses in gasket part assembling to full automatic gasket part assembling with new automatic machine. This machine using programmable logic controller (PLC), where all process which was done by man power will change to mechanical structure, so this process will change to automatic process. At the end, this process can reduce the need for man power and give effect to the reduction of direct labor cost also to be about 9,2 million rupiah in one shift production/month, however this nominal will fluctuate due to the number of total production quantity/month. Anothe effect with the use of automatic machine for quality process level is the increase of product quality level development because all item process check will be done by 100% sensor check, so the human error factor will be eliminated by using full automatic gasket assembling machine. Keywords: Increasing of salary, average minimum salary, Automation process, man power reduction, decreased of direct labor cost, PLC system control.

Abstract

Pharmaceutical industry especially that move in generic products, have many kinds of products to be manufactured in its production lines with the shortest possible time. This condition causes the frequent of changeover process. This cause requires the company to further improve the effectiveness of the machine by reducing the time of changeover process in terms of setup and clean-up machine. In order to reducing the time of setup and clean-up activity use the method of approaches the SMED analysis method to reduce unnecessary motion waste (value added and non-value added derived from lean manufacturing). Before conduct the research, in the 5th production line was not in the Kanban system. So, it often occurs the changeover process. The longest changeover time is in the drying room. After that conduct the Time and Motion Study in order to know the detail setup activities in the drying room. This is due to problems in the working methods and environment factors. Based on data from observations made on the engine FBD, there are 49 activities comprising 44 internal activities and 5 activities that can be converted to an external. Then from 44 internal activities, only 43 were able to be combined activity of up to 11 activities. Results from this study is able to decrease setup time and clean-up on the machine FBD by 62.18%. Based on this result also, this can increase the productivity of the production line. Keywords: Unnecessary motion waste, Lean Manufacturing, Value added, Non-value added, Changeover process, SMED.

Abstract

Sales data of FY10 to FY 15 shows increasing of switch D-1 demand. In fulfilling the demand, budget of production have been allocated by the head company. In fact, there is gap between the budget and cost required by production department. The condition cause the capacity lower than the demand. It happened to FY16. The problem should be solved because it has bad impact to customer satisfaction. Based on the problem identification, the problem of lack of budget can caused by the wrong estimation of demand. Refer to that problem, company decide to find out the better method in forecasting of demand and assume that the mother company will determine the suitable number of budget to produce as much as demand. Several methods of forecasting have been considered and trend liner method is the best method for the company demand pattern. Lack of capacity at FY16 before will require the increasing of capacity in several next periods. Changing the manual line to be automation line is an alternative to overcome the capacity problem. The result of analysis is automation line is more efficient than manual line. It reduced the number of operator from 7 to 4 per line. Adding one automation line need 3 years to get payback with net present value $ 249,377.88, internal rate of return is 18.93% and profitability is index 1.62Keywords: Payback Period, Net Present Value, Internal Rate of Return, Profitability Index

Abstract

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) play a significant role for Indonesian economy. However, many SMEs have difficulty developing its business. The various SME development programs that are provided are generally less impactful, ineffective, and unsustainable. Therefore, a special study is needed to determine the development program for SMEs. This research integrates two methods in multi criteria decision making (MCDM), i.e. decision-making method of trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) and analytic network process (ANP) method to determine which internal factors that are most important for SMEs development. Based on the data obtained from the experts and the results of the analysis, internal factor that has biggest weight for the development of SMEs are managerial quality, investment, business owner characteristics, and entrepreneurial orientation; consecutively. Moreover, technology awareness and the determination and achievement of targets (sub-factor of managerial quality), technological development (sub-factor of investment), and membership/involvement in business/association groups (sub-factor of business owner characteristics) are significant factor for SMEs development. SMEs development programs should focus on improving these factors so that Indonesian SMEs can experience sustainable growth. Keywords: development programs, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL), analytic network process (ANP), internal factors.

Abstract

Department of technical training is the department that responsible for training program for the entire production technician in PT.ABC. In order to constantly improve the quality of training service, a research was conducted to analyze the satisfaction of production technician towards training service quality that organized by technical training department. Production technician will determine, whether the training program has been satisfactory or not. To determine the participants' satisfaction of the quality of the training service, this research has started by using the concept of service quality and also shows a model of service quality gap. Analysis of the participants' satisfaction was measured by using the service quality in order to know the gap between actual performance and expectation performance of the training service. This research was conducted to determine the priority factor that must be done to improve the quality of the training services. This factor is determined by using importance performance analysis method and the results from this research is customer satisfaction and priority factor for improvements which consists of the hygiene of training room, training content materials, training modules and clarity of training information. Keywords: Gap, Service Quality, Training, Expectations, Actual, Importance Performance Analysis

Abstract

Inventory is one of important factors in manufacturing industry to ensure production process run. This research was conducted in an aluminum ingot manufacture company. The company faces a problem to manage the inventory system for their main raw material. The problem deals with the high expenditure due to safety stock that causes high inventory cost. Total inventory cost based on current condition is $270,706 per year. The proposed improvement method that used in this analysis is continuous review system. This method is applied to determine the appropriate Reorder Point (ROP) and to minimize the inventory cost. Based on the proposed improvement, total inventory cost can be reduced by 30%. This proposed system is also equipped with Decision Support System by using what-if analysis method as the tool to make decision for the next several periods by giving several scenarios and considering the aspects that influence to decision. Keywords: Inventory, Reorder point, Continuous Review System, Decision Support System, What If Analysis, Scenario
