Abstract

This studyis about the influence of socialization on how to use the library to improve users’skills in the usage of the collection at UNIB library. The aim of this study is to analyze users’ skillsto find information in the library, and to know barriers faced by users to use the library’s facilities provided by UNIB library. The respondent of this research was 7 faculties, every faculties was took 10 students as the samples. There are two data used in this study; primary and secondary data. The primary data come from questionnaire survey, and the secondary data is supporting data from the interview and observation. The reaction of respondent about locker facility is 57%, the respondent not understand the usage of OPAC is 21%, the respondent that understand the usage of OPAC is 57%, confuse the usage of internet is 47%, understand the usage of internet is 23%, the respondent know how to search the collection in the shelf, including title, subject and author 34%, respondent know there is an photo copy is 27% and not 46%. The respondent that know the role of borrow and return the books 14%, do not know 51%, the respondent that know how to use library 64% because have good situation, for the right and the users’ obligation in the library, the respondent gives 69%. Understand the reference of service is 60% and not 17%, very understand the reference of service 23%, and the respondent still confused of socialization of environment in the library is 57%, its mean the librarians should guiding the user so that the user of library know every room of the library.

Abstract

The purpose of writing this article is to explain the concept of electronic records management. Electronic archives have an important role in the administration system. Electronic archives are archives that are created, communicated, stored, and accessible via electronic devices. The development of information technology requires that archives be processed electronically. In managing electronic archives, it requires special knowledge and skills in archival governance coupled with computer knowledge or information technology. Therefore, there needs to be a good collaboration between archivists as archival professionals with programmers as computer professionals to create a good electronic archival management system. Archives stored in electronic form may be images, sounds, video, text or otherwise that can be processed in computer programs and stored in electronic data storage media and can be accessed by electronic media.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of  reading interest for user library  in IAIN Purwokerto. Reading is a very important activity in education, especially in college. IAIN Purwokerto as part of the university has the task of educating the nation's life that can be started by reading. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach, with  populations are  library users in IAIN library Purwokerto. Sampling using slovin formula with 10% sampling error, and samples taken 100 respondents.Method of data retrieval using questionnaires, with fifteen questions that have been validated and has a high reliability of 0.855. The results of this study indicate that the level of interest in reading librarian library IAIN Purwokerto considered good, because the average value obtained is 2.97.There are 89% of respondents who have hoby reading, 89% of respondents who like to borrow books in the library, 57% of respondents who read at least one hour a day, and 71% of respondents who set aside money to buy books.

Abstract

Perpustakaan perguruan tinggi memiliki peranan strategis dalam mendukung akreditasi dan eksistensi pendidikan tinggi dalam kancah persaingan global. Keberadaannya menjadi sangat penting ketika perpusatakaan berhasil mengelola sumber daya Perpustakaan yang handal dan memuaskan para pemustaka. Sementara itu kondisi sebagian besar perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi sampai saat ini sedikit memprihatinkan. Permasalahan yang dihadapi pun relatif sama, seperti lemahnya Sumber daya manusia, manajemen yang tidak profesional, minimnya koleksi buku, tidak memadainya fasilitas dan kurangnya kesadaran civitas akademika, serta belum tumbuhnya kepedulian pimpinan untuk pengembangan perpustakaan. Untuk itu perlu diambil langkah-langkah strategis bagi pemberdayaan perpustakaan ke depan dengan berpijak pada permasalahan di atas. Di antara langkah yang harus dilakukan yaitu  pengembangan sumber daya manusia perpustakaan dengan meningkatkan pendidikan, pelatihan, penelitian dan sebagainya. Selanjutnya pelayanan perpustakaan harus mengedepankan service quality (pelayanan prima yang “user oriented”).

Abstract

Manuscript is one of the nation's treasures in the world, including Indonesia and is one of the cultural treasures of Indonesia. Preservation of manuscripts is needed to be carried out in various institutions or organizations that have a collection of archives or texts. The research method used by writer is descriptive method, but in data acquisition, writer do observation and direct interview to Library Museum Sonoduboyo Yogyakarta. The library of this museum has many cultural manuscripts as many as 1400an manuscripts. The preservation policy is also done in the library of this museum and the type of preservation that is done is to frezzing and converting the original manuscript to digital format for all collections. This is done for the survival of the manuscript because of the large number of visitors from students, scientists, lecturers and others using the manuscripts, access to information is open in general to all who come so that the need for preservation for manuscripts owned by the library museum Sonobudoyo.
