The formulation of the problem is how to build community awareness and increase community capacity in developing an environmentally cultured village. The research used descriptive research and qualitative methods. Data collection techniques used observation, interview and documentation methods. Abstract

Cemara Kembar Beach in North Sumatra faces significant natural disaster risks, including abrasion, erosion, flash floods, and the impacts of climate change. The area is directly exposed to the sea, which increases vulnerability. Public understanding of disaster mitigation is about 70%, based on informant data. This study aims to analyze disaster risks and public awareness of mitigation efforts. Conducted using qualitative methods in Sei Nagalawan Village, the research involved interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings highlight that coastal areas are highly susceptible to disasters due to natural and human factors. Coastal erosion, caused by continuous sea waves, threatens settlements, while tropical storms and strong winds often bring flash floods. Rising sea levels due to climate change and human activities, such as mangrove logging, exacerbate the region's vulnerability. Public awareness of environmental protection is still low, further increasing flood risks during heavy rainfall. The study concludes that the community faces significant risks, including abrasion and flash floods, worsened by environmental damage and climate change, particularly affecting local rice fields. Public awareness and disaster mitigation measures are insufficient, contributing to the region’s vulnerability. Strategies such as mangrove planting, environmental education, waste management, and early warning systems have been identified as vital for reducing disaster risks. Therefore, collaboration between the government and the community is essential to develop sustainable disaster risk mitigation programs and protect coastal ecosystems.

Abstract

This paper presents a community engagement initiative in Kuwon Village, Magetan Regency, aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity through compost production mechanization. The project, a collaboration between university researchers and local farmers, introduced organic composting techniques using a specially designed compost chopper machine. The initiative sought to address the challenges of high fertilizer costs and limited subsidized fertilizers, promoting sustainable agricultural practices and improving farmers' livelihoods. The primary goal was to provide an efficient, cost-effective method for producing organic compost, reducing dependency on chemical fertilizers, and improving soil health. The project followed a participatory approach, involving farmers at every stage—from needs assessment to design, fabrication, training, and implementation—ensuring solutions suited to the local community's needs. The compost chopper machine reduced time and labor in compost production, and farmers reported improved soil health and higher crop yields. The project also fostered community collaboration as farmers worked together to adopt new practices. Economic benefits included lower input costs and increased income from higher productivity. The success of this initiative highlights the potential of combining technological innovation with community involvement to tackle challenges faced by rural farmers in Indonesia, promoting sustainable agricultural development and improving livelihoods.

Abstract

Some students at a state high school in Perbaungan exhibit disruptive behavior, harming themselves and disturbing the school environment. These students often skip school, ignore assignments, fight with classmates, disobey teachers, and cause disruptions. The root cause appears to be the students' backgrounds, particularly coming from broken homes. A broken home, caused by parental divorce, leads to emotional struggles in adolescents. This research aims to explore the emotional dynamics of adolescents from broken homes due to their parents' divorce. A qualitative approach with a case study method was used, involving three respondents aged 16 and 17 from divorced families, selected through purposive sampling. Triangulation techniques—source, method, and time—were applied for data validity. Descriptive analysis was employed to analyze the data collected from the informants. The findings show that all three respondents exhibited negative behavioral changes, emotional instability, and psychological trauma. They also reported a lack of attention and affection from their parents after the divorce. Despite the challenges, they viewed parental divorce as a process of self-maturation, although it was also seen as a difficult and painful experience.

Abstract

Purwosari Village gained recognition with the Embung Puri Idaman tourist attraction, the only tourist village in East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency. Managed by the Pokdarwis (Tourism Awareness Group), formed in 2022, the site is now facing challenges, including a decrease in the number of visitors. The causes include limited tourism creativity and innovation, economic capital, suboptimal marketing, and low community cohesion. To overcome this, online cultural arts and marketing training programs were held to boost Pokdarwis creativity, attract more visitors, and provide educational value for tourists. This training used the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach and involved 40 participants, including Pokdarwis members, village officials, children, and village residents. The material provided includes training on the mini saron musical instrument, the bancakan weton procession, tourism management, and social media marketing. The results showed an increase in participants' knowledge from 11.5% to 75.5%, as well as an increase in creativity from those who only relied on nature and facilities as tourist attractions, now being able to play mini saron and understand the bancakan weton cultural procession. Interviews revealed that participants gained new motivation to promote local arts and culture, aiming to increase recognition and provide economic value for the village community.

Abstract

This initiative aimed to address the issue of post-harvest corncob waste and the community's dependence on fossil fuels in Bibiosi Village, Keerom Regency. Through training on the production and utilization of charcoal briquettes from corncob waste, this community service program focused on improving energy efficiency, reducing household expenses, and fostering biomass-based entrepreneurship. The methods employed included socialization, technical training on briquette production (drying, carbonization, molding), and application testing in cooking. The test results indicated that the charcoal briquettes were capable of boiling 1 liter of water in 15 minutes and 10 seconds at an average temperature of 442°C, grilling 20 chicken skewers in 18 minutes and 12 seconds (438°C), and roasting 8 fish in 24 minutes and 35 seconds (429°C). These briquettes produced minimal smoke, left no soot, and were more economical than conventional fuels. In conclusion, corncob charcoal briquettes have the potential to serve as a sustainable solution for household energy and agricultural waste management.
