Parents need capitals to afford their children's education, especially at tertiary institutions, be it economic capital, social capital, cultural capital and symbolic capital. This study draws from the theory of Pierre Bourdieu's practice by focusing on what capital is owned or used by parents to finance their children's tertiary level education. This study uses a qualitative approach using a case study method. Every parent who supports financially their child's education up to the tertiary level uses one of the capitals proposed by Bourdieu, namely social capital, economic capital, cultural capital and symbolic capital. However the use of each capital is different in portion/ highlight. Keywords: Pierre Bourdieu, Education Continuity, Cultural Capital, Economic Capital.

Abstract

This research started with the researcher's interest in the impact of the Karangkandri Power plant on the productivity of farmers in Slarang Village, Kesugihan District, Cilacap Regency. This qualitative research using the case study method aims to analyze the condition of livelihood assets and farmers' survival strategies after the construction of PLTU Karangkandri. The researcher used the theory from the Department for International Development (DFID) regarding Pentagon Assets and the theory of Survival Strategy (Strategic Coping) by Edi Suharto to investigate farmers'survival strategies after the construction of Power plant. The results of the study show that the livelihood assets owned by farmers in survival consist of natural capital, human capital, physical capital, financial capital and social capital. Meanwhile, natural capital and social capital are the main capital used by farmers in meeting the needs of life and demanding a decent living for PT Sumber Segara Primadaya (S2P). The survival effort is divided into three strategies, namely active, passive and network strategies. The active strategy consists of diversifying jobs, participating in skills training, and adding manpower. Passive strategy is minimizing spending on basic needs and agricultural production. The network strategy is utilizing social networks to meet urgent needs and demand a decent living for PT Sumber Segara Primadaya (S2P). Keywords: Coping Strategies, Pentagon Assets, farmer, PLTU

Abstract

The exclusivity of persons with disabilities contributes to village poverty. BUMDes is an extension of the village government which has a role in improving welfare, alleviating village poverty and unemployment. The implementation of inclusive BUMDes is important as one of the government's efforts, especially the village government, to reduce poverty problems caused by the exclusivity of persons with disabilities. BUMDes Jaga Karsa is the most inclusive BUMDes with the best title in Situbondo Regency. Based on this, this study tries to analyze the implementation strategy of BUMDes Jaga Karsa in the perspective of social inclusion by involving the disability community, in this case Situbondo Disability Care Pioneer Community (PPDiS). The research method used is a qualitative description. All data was obtained through observation, interviews, FGDs and documentation. The results of this study are that BUMDes implement three important aspects in their management, first, aspect of fulfilling physical and non-physical accessibility such as the construction of disability-friendly public toilets, ramp stairs, handrails to information disclosure. Second, aspects of identity through recognition of persons with disabilities. Third, aspects of freedom of opinion and choosing a job position, and an emphasis on the participation or involvement of persons with disabilities in drafting village regulations that are pro-disabilities as part of village development. These three points are the basic things that distinguish the management of BUMDes Jaga Karsa from other BUMDes in the Situbondo district. Keywords: BUMDes, disability, exclusivity, social inclusion.

Abstract

This main objective of this study is to understand how the knowledge construction of mothers of stunted toddlers develops in response to the stunting phenomenon in Jatisari Village. In the context of this study, qualitative methods are used with a phenomenological approach and social construction theory by Berger & Luckman (year) as the main analytical tool to explore this phenomenon in depth. During the data collection process, several steps were carried out;observation of the village environment, interviews with mothers of toddlers, and collection of related documentation. The results of the study revealed a number of underlying causes of stunting that emerged in Jatisari Village. These factors coverthe community's low level of education, economic constraints affecting access to nutrition, inappropriate eating patterns, and knowledge gaps between health workers and residents. In addition, data analysis showed variations in the knowledge construction of mothers of stunted toddlers in Jatisari Village. Findings in the field identified two different forms of knowledge among research informants. Most mothers of these toddlers only consider stunting as a technical term that describes a short or thin child's physique. Meanwhile, three other informants had a deeper understanding of stunting, admitting that this is an indicator of children malnutrition that requires serious attention. Through this research, it was revealed how the perceptions and knowledge of mothers of stunted toddlers in Jatisari Village were gradually formed in response to the complex phenomenon of stunting. These findings provide valuable insights into how to approach and address this serious problem more effectively in rural communities. Keywords: knowledge construction, mothers of stunted toddlers, stunting phenomenon, Jatisari village.
