Abstract

The research has been conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of training activities lab assistant at the Laboratory of Physics, University of Bengkulu. Samples are 50 trainees, 2 instructors, and 2 technicians. Data collected by using observation, questionnaires, and interviews. The results showed that: 1) the planning of training activities has not been effective, 2) the appointment of instructors has not been effective, 3) implementation of the training has been effective, 4) evaluation of the training has not been effective, 5) follow up of evaluation results have not been effective, and 6) improving the competence of assistants linked to the task of understanding and oral communication is effective. However, upgrading the assistant of the operation of the equipment and understanding of the practicum material has not been effective. Results of this research recommend that laboratory management planning and evaluation of training in order to obtain feedback for improving or increasing the quality of the next training assistant.

Abstract

Eyestrain on the user computer is marked by the complaints eyes during or after working at the computer. This study examines the relationship eyestrain on the user's computer in the computer lab by a factor of individual characteristics (gender and refraction of the eye) and work environment factors (light intensity). The study was conducted on 143 students who use computers in three computer labs. Measurement of eyestrain performed by questionnaire to the respondent. The results showed that there have been eyestrain experienced by 123 respondent (86 %). Pain in the neck, back and shoulders (13.4 %) is a sign of eyestrain often occur. Test statistics using chi square showed relationship between eyestrain with refraction of the eye (p-value=0.023) and eyestrain with light intensity (p-value=0.009), while the gender are not related to eye fatigue (p value = 0.344).

Abstract

Plankton nets are used for planktonic aquatic organism collection. It has been widely used for long time on research and education at higher education, especially in the field of aquatic biology, fisheries and marine biology, and aquatic ecology. Therefore, manufactured and standard plankton nets are available. However, some laboratories have limited number of such manufactured plankton nets due to its high price. Handmade plankton nets are good alternative to provide reasonable number of plankton nets for research and education. Qualified handmade plankton nets are needed to ensure that qualified data are obtained. The aim of producing of plankton nets was to obtain handmade plankton nets with data quality similar to the data from manufactured plankton nets. Handmade plankton nets were designed to have a similar mesh size to common manufactured plankton nets that was No. 25. However, it has different specification to other manufactured plankton nets such as ORI and MDH plankton nets. Field examination has proven that data quality resulted by handmade plankton nets were not significantly different. This was due to that both handmade and manufactured plankton nets had a same mesh size. Data quality for plankton collections are depends on mesh size and plankton abundance in the water ecosystem, rather than depend on hand made or manufactured.

Abstract

Nitrate Reductase (NR) is an enzyme that catalyzes the nitrate to nitrite and are inducible because its activity can be enhanced by the addition of substrate. Plants obtain nitrogen by absorbing nitrate or ammonia ions present in the soil, the absorption of ionic compounds are used to form various nitrogen compounds such as proteins. The purpose of this study are : (1) measure, analyze the activity of nitrate reductase (ANR) maize plant leaves, green beans, sugar cane, chili, uwi and chili in “in-vivo”, (2) determining the value of ANR with the manufacture of standard curve NO2 (compound product) from the leaves of corn plants, green beans, sugar cane, uwi and chili, (3) learn Nitrate Reductase Activity (ANR) pepper plants were not cultivated, and fertilized with (NaNO3): 0.1, 0.2 and 0.4, and (5) determining the value of ANR with the manufacture of standard curve NO2 (compound product) from pepper plants were fertilized and not fertilized and the chilli plant organs. The tools used in the study of measurement ANR in vivo, the distribution of nitrate reductase and the physiologic effects of plants on the ANR is: a razor blade, the base to create a wedge, scales semi- analytic, tubes dark (movie), test tubes, micropipette, pipettes measure (5 ml), vortex and spectrophotometers.  Materials used in the study in vivo measurement of ANR is a chili plant leaves, maize, uwi, sugarcane, green beans, 5M NaNO3, NaNO2 0,6M, 0.1 pH 7.5 phosphate buffers; 0.02 % NED (Napthyediamine), 1 % SA (sulfanilamide) in 3N HCl and distilled water.  Materials used to study the distribution of nitrate reductase and plant physiological effect to ANR is the chili plants before flowering, during flowering and fruiting moment, while khemikalia ANR together with lab measurements in vivo.  The results showed that: (1) The pepper plant is a plant that has activity Nitrate Reductase highest among five tested plants, while the plants uwi have nitrate reductase activity low, (2) long incubation can reduce the activity of Nitrate Reductase from five plant species tested, (3) based on the organs of plants, the highest measurements on leaves, based on the plant age measurements the ANR highest at seedling, (4) based on  the leaf position, the ANR measurment of  highest  at section near the base, and (5) based on fertilization of NaNO3, the ANR measurement of  highest  at a concentration of 0.2 M.

Abstract

This research aim to know level of validity and reliability kuisoner satisfaction of sample test consumer in Integrated Laboratory Science and Technology Faculty UIN Sunan Kalijaga. Valid and mainstay an instrument in this case quizoner sampling test hardly determines success in determining level of satisfaction of consumer matching with reality. Retrieval of data in this research by using quizoner, while data analysis applied is Correlation Test Pearson Product Moment and Alpha Cronbach's Test. Validity test indicates that valid of kuisoner satisfaction of integrated laboratory sampling test consumer which consist of tangibles ( X1), assurance ( X2), reliability ( X3), responsiveness ( X4), emphaty ( X5) can expressed valid, calculate r of all indikator/ variable to total score bigger than tables r ( 0,2458) with level significance 1%. Where highest valid there is at variable assurance ( X2) with correlation value reachs 0,887. While to testing reliability with level signifikasi 5% ( table r 0,1882) indicates that mainstay quizoner satisfaction of integrated laboratory sampling test consumer has level of high reliability with value Apha 0,825.
