Abstract

This article discusses the importance of understanding the concept of asbabun nuzul in the science of interpretation, especially in relation to understanding the text of the Qur'an in a socio-historical context. The purpose of this study is to explore two main perspectives on asbabun nuzul, namely micro and macro, and how these two approaches affect our understanding of the revelation of the Qur'an. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature study and analysis of interpretations of classical and contemporary texts, as well as hadith narrations that explain the reasons for the revelation of verses. The results of the study indicate that asbabun nuzul has an important role in interpreting the verses of the Qur'an, especially in providing relevant legal and socio-cultural contexts. This study also highlights the differences in views between salaf and khalaf scholars regarding the importance of asbabun nuzul in understanding the Qur'an. Thus, understanding asbabun nuzul can enrich interpretation and help interpret verses by considering the social situation and conditions of the era when the revelation was revealed

Abstract

The Qur'an is a holy book that is a guide for mankind (hudan linnas), but in order for humans to find the instructions in the Qur'an, humans must try to understand it. Understanding the Qur'an is not an easy matter because it must fulfill various strict requirements in it so that although the truth of interpretation of the Qur'an remains relative, not everyone can do it. There are two approaches used to understand the Qur'an, namely textual and contextual. Textual and contextual approaches have always colored the journey of Muslims. This research is a library research, which is a research that uses literature in its implementation. The results of this study indicate that the collaboration of textual and contextual understanding has a very important role in shaping a moderate attitude in religion

Abstract

This study aims to reinterpret surah an-Nisa verse 34 through the application of the ushul fiqh principle of al-dharar yuzal (harm must be eliminated) and its relevance to the concept of Adult Learning and Education (ALE). The primary focus of this study is to deconstruct the literal interpretation of the verse, which is often used to justify domestic violence. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach and a literature review method. The findings reveal that applying the principle of al-dharar yuzal in interpreting an-Nisa verse 34 can lead to a more humanistic, inclusive understanding that supports gender justice. This interpretation is also relevant in the context of ALE, which emphasizes reflective and dialogical learning in building harmonious, violence-free domestic relationships. This study offers practical and theoretical solutions to support societal transformation in understanding gender and domestic violence issues in alignment with Islamic fundamental principles

Abstract

Interpretation of the Qur'an is absolutely necessary to understand the meaning and content of the Qur'an as a guide to life and the lives of Muslims to achieve happiness in this world and in the hereafter. Because only Allah SWT and the Prophet Muhammad SAW know the meaning and content of the Qur'an. It is ath-Thabari whose full name is Muhammad bin Jarir bin Yazid bin Katsir bin Ghalib, sometimes called Abu Ja'far is seen by leading scholars as the main mujtahid. His leadership, breadth of knowledge combined with humility, memory and intelligence are the crown of his asceticism, holiness and piety. In his interpretation as in his monumental work, the book Tafsir Jami'ul Bayan 'an Ta'wil Ayi Al-Qur'an, ath-Thabari uses the method of interpretation of narration (tafsir bi al-Ma'tsur). A method of interpretation based on the approach of the texts of the Qur'an and Hadith. If there is a conflict of interpretation in understanding the meaning and content of the Qur'an, ath-Thabari performs tarjih (excellence) based on 17 tarjih methods, sometimes his opinions are still different from the opinions of other commentators to this day
