Abstract

Wax is solid material  product and derivative product  of natural oil processing.  It has various level of smoothness. flexibility  and melting  point. PT. Pertamina  Processing  Unit (UP) V Balikpapan  is one of wax products in East Kalimantan.  Indonesia.  Pertamina produces 5 (five) types of wox which are Fully Refined Wax (FRW).  Hard Hard Paper (HHP).  Hard Semi Refined  wax (HSR).  Yellow Batik Wax (YBW)  and Match Wax  (MW). These waxes  are produced by four steps processes like dewaxing. sweating. treating  and molding. In domestic  purposes.  HHP is used for the raw material of paper  coating industry: HSR is used for the material  of lighting wax products  and for the raw material  of another  type of wax. FRW Match Wax is used the raw material  of match processing. yellow batik  wax is used for batik WaX and FRW (export grade) is used for fruit  coating industry  and cosmetic.  )n the production of sweating with VTS (vertical tube stove). domestic grade is produced and It  and it includes  HHP. HSR. Match wax and yellow botik wax. The  process of  sweating with sweating box produces export grade wax and the result is Fully Refined Wax. (FRW).  The process  of making  Fully Refined Wax in the laboratory  scale uses HSR wax with 14% oil content. yellow to brown color and grasy. melting point 580-600 C.  This process includes de-oiling process  (to reduce oil content) step by step (every 2 degrees)  heating from the temperature 480C  to 580C (melting point of oil). Therefore the change of color occurs from yellow to bright white. not oily and odorless like the type of FRW wax.

Abstract

Research  on activated carbon production from dirty coal with chemical process has been done. This research was Investigated the effect of concentration of phospharic acid as the activator on characteristics  the product Activated carbon was produced by activation of dirty cool for 2 hours at 800 0C. Chemical activation was done using phosphoric acid solution at various concentration:  15 %, 20%, 25 %, and 30 % for 24 hours and 0 % as control. The best quality of activated carbon was obtained from activated carbon using 25 % phosphoric acid. At this condition  the produced  activated carbon has choracteristics  of 1.87 % moisture content,  13,41 % ash content and adsorptive  capacity  of iodium  804.56  mg/g. This adsorptive capacity fulfill of the requirements of National  Standard  of  Indonesia for Technical  Activated Carbon (SNI 06-3730-1995).

Abstract

A smoked fish equipment with rotary system using coconut shell fuel has been made  The equipment is specified by 200 cm height and 100 cm in diameter of drying room. there  levels of fish hanger  and three hangers of each level. Each hanger can  hang 5 - 6 kg of fresh fish. These hangers can rotate powered  by 1250 rpm and 125 wott of electric  motor. A gear box is installed  to reduce the rotation speed of this motor. The amount of coconut shell that is needed for 18 hours driymg of 45 kg finish product of smoked  fish IS  20 kg. The results of laboratory analysis  of the smoked  fish treated cat fish (Hemibagrus nemurus) and pandanus  fish (Cryptopterus. Spp)  meet with  SNI 01 -   2725 -  1992 dried fish. except mold parameter.  The parameter tested in this analyses are moisture contant. ash contant. salt contant. Total Plate Count (TPC). E-coli. solmonella  Sp. and the  moisture cantont  of the smoked  fish produced is higher  than its standard  of SNIKey word : smoked fish, coconut shell, rotary system

Abstract

In modern agriculture. the use of organic fertilizer becomes more popular because it  contains elements of natural nutrients such as N. P. K. Ca. Mg. which is needed by the soil  for  the growth of  a plant Organic fertilizers are derived  from the woste of untapped Acacia bark. To take the advantage of Acacia mangium bark waste a study of organic fertilizer is carried out in order to find out the best composition  of organic fertilizer  from the waste. The result showed that the best composition of organic fertilizers  based on elements of  fertilizer .treatment in the  market is the treatment of acacio wood with bran and goat manure (A3).

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the optimum condition and the effect of mole ratio and incubation time of transesterification reaction between olive oil and polyethylene glycol.Olive oil was transesterircated by polyethylene glycol and catalyzed by liposes enzymes in oil-woter emulsion system.The result of this research,showed that mole ratio and incubation time had significant effect to reaction of conversion.  The optimum mole ratio between olive oil and polyethylene glycol was 1:9 and optimum time needed for transesterificotion   was four hours in pH 7and temperature  400C.

Abstract

There are many ways to improve added value of crude palm oil and core palm oil from alkyd resin for coating industry. Alkyd is made  by polymerizing  condense  ester of reaction acid of polycarboxylic and alcohol. Now a days resin alkyd are made from soya oil, sun flower oil and castor oil, which means that the prospect of resin alkyd from CPO is very good. This researcb used proportion of CPO. glycerol and Phtalic Acid weight is 2: 1:0,5, 2: 1: 1, and  2: 1 :2. The best result of this research in  percent weight of paint making is 2: I : 2.

Abstract

The of research antioxidant activity of tuber extract of bawang tiwai was carried out in the water solvent on 100°C combined with ethanol solvent 96%.The parameter of antioxidant activaty with had been analyzed  was:total of fenol. total of antioxidant activity, capacity of free radical capture, reduction power, oxygen reactive species.The result of  this research was that the total of fenol resulted in ethanol solven was higher than water solvent, the antioxidant  activity of 100 ppm bawang tiwai extract in ethanol solvent is better than in water solvent,but still lower than vitamin C,the capacity of free radical capture combined with ethanol solvent50 ppm was higher than water solvent50ppm.butstilllowerthanvitamin C.Reduction power of tuber extract of bawang tiwai combined with ethanol solvent was hight than water solvent 50 ppm, but stil lower than vitamin C and reactive oxygen with ethanol species of tuber extract of bawang tiwai combined with ethanol solvent was better than water, but still lower than vitamin C.
