Abstract

This study aims to describe the types and process of adjective formation in Benuaq language using qualitative descriptive methods. Interview, notes, and literature study are instruments for collecting data. It uses descriptive analysis. Based on the results of the study, there are some adjectives in Benuaq language that have prefixes and infixes meaning 'like', 'as', 'same', 'mutual', and 'always'. It is ke-. Confix in Benuaq language is hardly found in the data of this study. The example of confix is se-yaq. That confix is only attached to reduplication of adjectives which means the most or superlative, similar to se-nya in Indonesian. The adjectives in Benuaq language show two main types, namely qualitative adjective denoting qualities and relative adjective expressing membership in a group. Qualitative adjectives express (1) characteristic, (2) size, (3) color, (4) time, (5) distance, (6) opinion, and (7) perception. Relative adjectives place reference bound to a particular group. Their presence cannot be qualified.

Abstract

This development aims to create a product of anecdote learning model book based on STAD and Make A Match on the tenth grade senior high school students. It can be used to facilitate teachers and students to identify the structure of anecdote. It uses Research and Development/R&D of Dick and Carey’s learning model. The results show that it has fulfilled the standard validated by material expert test, linguist test, educational practitioner test, and media expert test with the average score of 92, very feasible/very good criteria. The students’ learning outcomes of the experimental group are excellent with the average of individual cognitive, individual affective, and the group affective score of 96. The students' learning outcomes of the field test group are excellent with the average of individual cognitive, individual affective, and group affective score of 97. The percentage of teachers and students’ response rate are 96%, excellent qualifications. It applies qualitative descriptive and descriptive statistical analysis. Based on the development findings, it can be concluded that the development of anecdote learning with STAD Model and Make A Match on the tenth grade senior high school students can be employed by teachers in the classroom learning.

Abstract

This article discusses about the short story of TPT by Benny Arnas. It uses the concept of symbolic definition of George Herbert Mead’s perspective of symbolic interactions involving mind, self, and society. The definition of the symbol, in this case, must be the same among participants. If there is any difference, it would potentially raise conflicts and the dissimilarity of the symbol definition would be described. The method used in this data analysis is descriptive-analysis. The result shows that there is binary opposition towards symbol meaning in the interaction among participants. It reveals that there is a conceptual conflict about the characters’ point of view on the same symbols.

Abstract

Lipstick is one of makeup elements used to give color to the lips to beautify women’s appearance. The purpose of this study is to describe expression units for the naming and similarity of colors in lipstick products. It focuses on semantic aspects. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive. Data collection techniques used is observation and notes taking. It applies the data analysis techniques in three stages, namely the process of finding, managing, and presenting the data. The results of the study show that there are (a) expression units of color in the lipstick products, (b) expression units of labeling the lipstick colors, and (c) expression units of the lipstick color likeness.

Abstract

This paper discusses the importance of city space for humans who live in it in the anthology of Salome and Orang-Orang Balikpapan. It uses sociological theory of literature and a theory of urban space. This study analyzes the position of humans in urban space and the importance of urban space for humans who live in it. Human position is displayed in various socio-economic classes. Therefore, relations between people in those various socio-economic classes will also be analyzed. It shows that the journey of human beings maintaining their existence in the city space brings together humans to other humans with various social, economic, and cultural backgrounds. Humans who migrate to urban spaces find attention and empathy from the others so that they can find new family and homes. The defense of their existence that is full of competition can cause other humans to develop empathy. In urban space, humans do not only buy and sale things, demand rights, and carry out obligations, but also can still show empathy to the others. Empathy demonstrated through attention to the development of others, especially children, is also a form of empathy that is very beneficial to the others. Short stories in Salome and Orang-Orang Balikpapan show humans in the urban space who maintain their social values in their intense competition maintaining their existence.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the design development, the implementation, and the feasibility of learning media of text writing based on prezi negotiation on grade X of senior high school students. It uses research and development method. The development of this learning media is elaborated in accordance with the development stage of the procedural model based on Borg and Gall. This development research model is conducted only until step seven, that are (1) need analysis, (2) product design and development,(3) product validation I, (4) small group test, (5) product validation II, (6) large group test, and (7) evaluation and dissemination. The pre test and post test reveal that the learning outcome is 34.4% higher after using the media. Thus, it can be concluded that the learning media is feasible to be applied in learning process.

Abstract

This research describes cultural traces of Penajam Paser Utara’s people through its origin consisting of value system, social norms, mindset, and work ethic of the people in the past. It discusses about cultural traces recorded in the origin of Penajam Paser Utara’s people. It uses library method to search data. It applies qualitative method to describe events in the past, like history, legends, or important events, including important figures that had ever existed. Cultural theory is used to analyze the culture of the people through their origin. The results of this study indicate that Penajam Paser Utara’s in the past recorded their local wisdom of each region on their origin. It can be concluded that Penajam Paser Utara’s origin can be used as knowledge to understand the history of the people so as to develop the potential of the region.

Abstract

This study aims to improve learning outcomes of class VIII-C students of SMP Negeri 5 Tenggarong, academic year of 2018/2019, in writing fantasy stories using the Pakem method. It  was conducted in 3 (three) cycles and each of them consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the use of Pakem method in the learning of writing fantasy stories can improve the learning outcomes of class VIII-C students of SMP Negeri 5 Tenggarong in the academic year of 2018/2019.
