Abstract

Bioprocesses have the inherent characteristics of high nonlinearity, parameter uncertainty and information imperfection. These specific natures may cause some difficulties in control. Jacobian linearization method was used in this paper to linearize the bioreactor model firstly, and then a Multiple-input and single output (MISO) model predictive controller was designed for the reactor. PID controller and fuzzy-PID controller was also introduced to compare with the MPC controller. Simulation results prove that the model predictive control has several advantages over the other controls for bioreactors. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i6.1444

Abstract

Some chaos-based image encryption schemes using plain-images independent secret code streams have weak encryption security and are vulnerable to chosen plaintext and chosen cipher-text attacks. This paper proposed a two-level secret key image encryption scheme, where the first-level secret key is the private symmetric secret key, and the second-level secret key is derived from both the first-level secret key and the plain image by iterating piecewise linear map and Logistic map. Even though the first-level key is identical, the different plain images will produce different second-level secret keys and different secret code streams. The results show that the proposed has high encryption speed, and also can effectively resist the existing cryptanalytic attacks. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i6.1599

Abstract

Hammer mills are widely used for material size reduction in food and feed industries. In this paper, a new hammer mill with separate sieving device has been designed and fabricated, in which the so-called material-circulation layer can not be formed and material being ground passes through the sieve by rotor throwing and air blowing without direct rubbing with the sieve. Thus the new machine has the advantages in high productivity, low energy consumption, low sieve wearing, and especially,  the low product temperature increase, which is favorable to  feed quality and feed preserving. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i6.1407

Abstract

First this paper points out two common problems of utilizing processors under multicore architecture, namely processors waiting for IO operation to finish and load balancing among cores. Then it makes an analysis of the reasons for them. In order to fully exploit multicore processors, this paper proposes a multicore load balancing model based on the Java NIO framework which offers a solution to above problems. This model mainly illustrates a task scheduling algorithm which uses a parallel computing framework, Java Fork/Join. At last, experiments and performance analysis prove the effectiveness of this model in utilizing the multicore processors. Although the model is constructed under the architecture of Java language, it can be extended to other languages without much being changed. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i6.1431

Abstract

In order to cope with the nonlinear and non-Gaussian time series, a RBF-HMM-GMM model, which is based on radial basis function (RBF) neural networks with the assumption of measurement noise being hidden Markov model (HMM) and the distribution of each hidden states being approximated by Gaussian mixture models (GMM), is proposed in this paper. In the proposed model, both the orders (numbers of nodes and inputs of RBF network, numbers of hidden states of HMM, numbers of Gaussian mixture component of GMM) and the parameters change over time. Firstly, a scheme for time series forecasts based on RBF-HMM-GMM model is proposed. Then an on-line prediction algorithm based on RBF-HMM-GMM model using sequential Monte Carlo (SMC) methods is developed. At last, the monthly West Texas Intermediate crude oil future price series are analyzed, and experimental results indicate that the RBF-HMM-GMM model is able to predict the time series accurately. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i6.1545

Abstract

Based on a C8051F006 SoC (system on-a-chip), a simple and low cost quasi-static capacitance-voltage (C-V) meter was designed and developed to obtain C-V characteristics of semiconductor devices. The developed C-V meter consists of a capacitance meter, a programmable voltage source, a C8051F006 SoC-based slave controller, and a personal computer (PC) as a master controller. The communication between the master and slave controllers is facilitated by the RS 232 serial communication. The accuracy of the C-V meter was guaranteed by the calibration functions, which are employed by the program in the PC and obtained through the calibration processes of analog to digital converter (ADC), digital to analog converters (DACs) of the C8051F006 SoC, and the programmable voltage source.  Examining 33-pF and 1000-pF capacitors as well three different p-n junction diodes, it was found that the capacitances of common capacitors are in the range of specified values and typical C-V curves of p-n junction diodes are achieved. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i6.1182

Abstract

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a technology that has been widely used in daily life, such as in access control, in electronic passports, in payment and ticketing. However, since the RFID information may be easily unveiled over the air, security and the privacy issues always exist. Many RFID authentication protocols have been proposed to preserve security and privacy of the system. Nevertheless, most of these protocols are analyzed and it is shown that they can not provide security against some RFID attacks. LMAP++ and SUAP are two typical and recently proposed RFID lightweight authentication protocols, which were presented to resist passive attack. In this work, utilizing the particular structures of these two protocols and the property of bitwise operations, we present a new and efficient passive full-disclosure attack on LMAP++, SUAP-1 and SUAP-3 protocol. We point out the construction weakness of these two protocols and our passive attack can be used to reveal all the secrets shared by the Reader and Tag by eavesdropping about 20 rounds of the authentication messages. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i6.1398

Abstract

Applications of microcantilevers as biosensors have been explored by many researchers for the applications in medicine, biological, chemistry, and environmental monitoring. This research discusses a design of measurement method and simuations for piezoresistive microcantilever as a biosensor, which consist of designing Wheatstone bridge circuit as object detector, simulation of resonance frequency shift based on Euler Bernoulli Beam equation, and microcantilever vibration simulation using COMSOL Multiphysics 3.5. The piezoresistive microcantilever used here is Seiko Instrument Technology (Japan) product with length of 110 μm, width of 50 μm, and thickness of 1 μm. Microcantilever mass is 12.815 ng, including the mass receptor. The sample object in this research is bacteria EColi. One bacteria mass is assumed to 0.3 pg. Simulation results show that the mass of one bacterium will cause the deflection of 0,03053 nm and resonance frequency value of 118,90 kHz. Moreover, four bacterium will cause the deflection of 0,03054 nm and resonance frequency value of 118,68 kHz. These datas indicate that the increasing of the bacteria mass increases the deflection value and reduces the value of resonance frequency. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i6.1180

Abstract

Support vector machine is a popular method in machine learning. Incremental support vector machine algorithm is ideal selection in the face of large learning data set. In this paper a new incremental support vector machine learning algorithm is proposed to improve efficiency of large scale data processing. The model of this incremental learning algorithm is similar to the standard support vector machine. The goal concept is updated by incremental learning. Each training procedure only includes new training data. The time complexity is independent of whole training set. Compared with the other incremental version, the training speed of this approach is improved and the change of hyperplane is reduced. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i6.1445
