Abstract

Broadband wireless networks are increasing in popularity owing to current advances in technology. For large area network deployment, IEEE 802.16 mesh networks can provide a wide coverage, high speed and high quality multimedia service. IEEE 802.16 mesh configuration eliminates the need to have direct links between subscriber stations (SSs) and the base station (BS); a node can choose the links and path of the highest quality to transmit data and avoid the congested areas. To provide better Quality of Service (QoS) over the 802.16 network, the network layer 3 (L3) and layer 2 (L2) QoS must be integrated. Hence, cross-layer mechanisms were designed and incorporated into our previously proposed IEEE 802.16 QoS frameworks. Taking into consideration resource utilization and QoS requirements, we devised various scheduling schemes to determine their effects on the IEEE 802.16 mesh network. Our performance evaluation demonstrates that the proposed framework with enhancement scheduling has higher throughput, lower delay and signal cost than comparable systems. In this paper, we provide an appraisal of our proposed scheme. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i12.3708

Abstract

Current methods of remotely sensed image change detection almost assume that the DEM of the surface objects do not change. However, for the geological disasters areas (such as: landslides, mudslides and avalanches, etc.), this assumption does not hold. And the traditional approach is being challenged. Thus, a new theory for change detection needs to be extended from two-dimensional (2D) to three-dimensional (3D) urgently. This paper aims to present an innovative scheme for change detection method, object-oriented simultaneous three-dimensional geometric and physical change detection (OOS3DGPCD) using GIS-guided knowledge. This aim will be reached by realizing the following specific objectives: a) to develop a set of automatic multi-feature matching and registration methods; b) to propose an approach for simultaneous detecting 3D geometric and physical attributes changes based on the object-oriented strategy; c) to develop a quality control method for OOS3DGPCD; d) to implement the newly proposed OOS3DGPCD method by designing algorithms and developing a prototype system. For aerial remotely sensed images of YingXiu, Wenchuan, preliminary experimental results of 3D change detection are shown so as to verify our approach. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i12.3659

Abstract

Impact fatigue life of valve leaves has great influence on energy saving performance and lifetime of small hermetic reciprocating compressors. This paper presented a test system that intended to analysis and evaluate of impact fatigue life of valve leaves used in small hermetic reciprocating compressors. Firstly, an incentive system was designed to simulate real work condition for valve leaf. Then, a data acquisition system was built to collect the sound signal while valve leaf was being under test. Simultaneously, the system could control the working state of incentive system so that test could be terminated automatically once fatigue was detected. Finally, fatigue detection system was designed to detect fatigue of valve leaf. Fatigue detection was the key point of this test system. Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and Wavelet Packet Transform (WPT) were applied to analyze sound signal, both of which were effective in detecting the damage through analyzing. Facts showed that the test system provided a feasible approach to evaluate impact fatigue life for valve leaf manufacturing. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i12.3675

Abstract

In this paper, we use integral equation and damped least-squares method to invert three dimensional abnormal body's electromagnetic field through horizontal electric dipole source multiple locations excitation. Multiple groups  electromagnetic field data in different excitation and receiving points to be uniform consideration in once inversion, the Jacobian matrix is obtained and divided into linear terms and nonlinear terms. At last, we use the forward simulation data fit the measured data, and gradually modify geoelectricity model parameter values, ultimately achieve optimal fitting, gain three dimensional abnormal body's resistivity. Model test shows that the inversion algorithm has a fast convergence speed, less dependents on the initial value; the inversion result is accurate and reliable. It is an effective solution to the inversion failure caused by insufficient amount of data. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i12.3985
