Abstract

In the paper, we propose a scheme about a low-cost remote healthcare monitor system based on embedded server between home and hospital. In the scheme, we design an embedded server based on an ARM9 microprocessor. The embedded server supplies all kinds of interfaces such as GPIO interfaces, serial interfaces. These interfaces can acquire all kinds of physiology signals such as Electrocardiograph, heart rate, respiration wave, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, body temperature and so on through connecting the sensor modules. The network is based on local area network and adopts the Browser/Server model. Each home with an embedded server is as a server endpoint and the hospital is as a Browser endpoint. Every embedded server owns an independent static internet protocol address. The doctors can easily acquire patients’ physiology information through writing patients’ internet protocol address on any computer browser. The embedded server can store patients’ physiology information using database in an 8 GB SD card. The doctor can download the database information into the local computers. The system can conveniently upgrade all software in the embedded server only on a remote hospital computer. The remote healthcare monitor system based on embedded server has advantages of low-cost, convenience and feasibility. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i4.2327

Abstract

We detect interest points in temporal-spacial space and use the local feature plus their positions to recognize action in a video. Although some previous methods take advantage of the position of each interest point besides the local feature of them, and achieve good performance, it consumes much time to position these points due to the complexity of an action. We propose two simple methods to position each interest point, and design a new feature for action recognition. Evaluation of the approach on two sets of videos suggests its effectiveness. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i4.2344

Abstract

In underwater acoustic communication systems, inter-symbol interference (ISI) caused by communication channel distortion is the main factor affecting the quality of communication. Aiming at the shortcomings of computational complexity, slow convergence rate, and poor stability of Multi-Modulus Algorithm (MMA), a quadratic inverse function Tsallis entropy of Cascade Multi-Modulus blind equalization Algorithm (TCMMA) was proposed. In the proposed algorithm, quadratic inverse function Tsallis entropy is fused with Parzen window probability density estimation method, and directly used as the cost function in cascade  blind equalizer to reduce the residual mean square error, and the normalized wavelet transform is used to speed up the convergence speed. The simulation results with underwater acoustic channel show the superiority of the proposed algorithm. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i4.2371

Abstract

In this research, we present a novel dynamic background modeling method based on reconstructed 3D shapes, which can solve background modeling problems of multi-camera in real-time. While 3D shape reconstruction is a popular technology widely used for detecting, tracking or identifying various objects, little effort has been made in applying this useful method to background subtraction. In this work we propose an approach to using 3D shape reconstruction technology to develop a novel decision making mechanism for background image updating. This 3D shape reconstruction based background subtraction method is adaptive to changes in illumination, capable of handling sudden illumination changes as well as complex dynamic scenes efficiently. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i4.2387

Abstract

This paper expounded the meaning of energy saving and emission reduction of power industry and analyzed the main factors of energy saving and emission reduction of power industry of low-carbon economy by combining low-carbon economy and development demand of power industry. We constructed evaluation index system and evaluation model of energy saving and emission reduction in power industry under the background of low-carbon economy. Then we carried on the empirical analysis. These provided the theoretical reference of the energy saving and emission reduction in power industry under the background of low-carbon economy for the government agencies, the electricity regulatory departments and other relevant units. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i4.2402

Abstract

Some techniques of controlling remotely the digital storage oscilloscope were proposed including VISA, VXIplug&play drivers, TVC and IVI-COM drivers. By means of GPIB and VISA, several application development environments could be used to develop remote control techniques to the digital storage oscilloscope. The programming language of Visual C++ was used to develop software. With the help of VISA and the dynamic link library, remote control to the digital storage oscilloscope through network was completed. All operations to the digital storage oscilloscope including parameters setup, data acquisition, waveform acquisition and storage, data processing were implemented in a remote place. The results show that the techniques of remote control are convenient and efficient and fit for experiments of scientific research and practical projects. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i4.2339

Abstract

In order to obtain power line communications channel transmission characteristics, impulse responses measurements were performed on the basis of PN sequence’s excellent periodic autocorrelation properties. Meanwhile, a compensation method in frequency domain was proposed to improve the measurement precision. Then, the empirical multipath channel model of power line is presented from the measured results. The simulation and experimental measurement results not only have verified the efficiency of the proposed model, but also showed that the measurement method has fast, simple and convenient characteristic. Finally, the statistical characteristics of path amplitude and the delay spread are obtained through the analysis of measured results. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i4.2366

Abstract

The paper applied multiple attribute decision making into LED collaborative commerce platform to help customers make purchase decision. The normal customers are unfirmiliar with LED lighting product, because it is latest product in lighting industry and the attributes of LED are complicated and professional. The method analyzed the essential attributes and network attributes of LED lighting products to sequence the limited alternative. And based on the shortage of TOPSIS method, the paper combined grey correlation with TOPSIS method in order to make decision more exactly. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i4.2382

Abstract

Because of the most common method of preparing the fuel-air mixture for gasoline-fueled engines is port fuel injection (PFI). For reducing the wall-film entering the cylinder in liquid phase, the phenomena of wall-film entering the cylinder in liquid phase should be at minimum lever or be avoided. So the first thing for learning the wall-film is to detect the way of the wall-film entering the cylinder. Therefore, the way of the wall-film enter the cylinder in liquid phase is detected by changing the temperature of the wall-film location and time for wall-film evaporated. Then the way is validated by experiment test bed and it is improved that the way is feasible. At the end the influence of injection timing and fuel ratio on engine performance is studied based on the test bed.The results show that regardless of the expansion stroke or the intake stroke fuel injection the injection timing delay will decrese the engine power and  make emission deterioration meanwhile the twice fuel injection can improve the fuel film evaporation resulting of high-speed airflow of intake charge. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i4.2398

Abstract

A unique motor drive unit (MDU) and motorcycle crash simulation unit (MCSU) were developed to establish a short-track and high-accuracy experiment system of motorcycle impact injury. The control hardware of the MDU consists of a “two DC motors” system and a “two drums, closed-loop, friction transmission” system, and the control software of the MDU has a novel “carriage acceleration profile control program” which was specially set up to prevent the cusp-like pulse and oscillation phenomenon in the acceleration stage close to the uniform velocity. The unique motorcycle sled and energy absorber constitute a novel MCSU. Research results show that: (1)Using a unique generation algorithm of the carriage acceleration- and velocity-time curve and unique manufacturing techniques of hardware components, the apparatus presented in this paper has a potential to become the first short-track experiment system of motorcycle impact injury. (2)Due to a high weight capacity with the ability to propel whole vehicles, the MDU can be used in the full motorcycle/full vehicle crash tests or vehicle component sled impact tests. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i4.2429
