Abstract

This paper deals with a new Single Ended Primary Inductance Converter (SEPIC) for Power Factor Correction (PFC). The proposed converter is used in combination with SEPIC and a valley fill circuit. The valley fill circuit improves the efficiency of the SEPIC by reducing the harmonics in the supply mains. The power factor is also enhanced compared to the conventional PFC converters. It uses the simple control strategy for controlling the power factor of the AC mains. It can be preferred to low power applications, since it has the merits like less input current ripples and less total harmonic distortion (THD). To observe the performance of the Valley fill circuit, a model based on the SEPIC topology has been designed by using MULTISIM and MATLAB / SIMULINK environment and implemented with one cycle control (OCC) and Fuzzy logic controller. The simulations results are demonstrated in order to validate the effectiveness of the controllers in power factor improvement.

Abstract

Based on the Generalized Distributive Law and the features of FPGAs, this paper proposes a new strategy for implementation of Low-Costing QC-LDPC Decoder on FPGA platform. We get this new strategy from the Generalized Distributive Law, which is proposed to describe the belief propagation on graphs. And using this new strategy a low-costing (2560, 1024) LDPC decoder is implemented on a Xilinx Virtex-4 FPGA. Results show that this new strategy can make good use of the performance of LDPC codes, even though it needs less resource.

Abstract

Application mapping is one of the key problems of Network-on-Chip (NoC) design. It maps the cores of application to the processing elements of the NoC topology. This paper presents a novel approach for NoC application mapping, which uses adaptive genetic algorithm (AGA) in the mapping. The proposed approach adaptively varies the probabilities of crossover and mutation operators in genetic algorithm, aiming to reduce the overall communication cost of NoC. Experimental results show that the proposed approach decreases the communication cost by 3% to 7% on average, compared to the existing approach using Standard Genetic Algorithm (SGA).

Abstract

To study the temperature rise of dry-type transformer in different cooling conditions, finite element method is used in this paper to calculate temperature distribution in the transformer. Firstly, thermal-fluid coupled model of a transfomer is built up,and the equivalent heat generation of this model is figured out according to the results of delivery test. Then, thermal-fluid coupled model is simulated in both natural cooling condition and forced cooling condition, and temperature distributions in the iron and windings under these two conditions are obtained. Finally, temperature rises in these two conditions are compared to figure out the influence of cooling condition on transformer temperature rise.

Abstract

A traditional assumption underlying most data converters is that the signal should be sampled at a rate exceeding twice the highest frequency. In this paper, we employ a method for low-rate sampling of multi- band signals via applying periodic nonuniform sampling in shift-invariant spaces generated by m kernels with period T. So, the sampling and reconstruction of signals were transformed into matrix and vector operations, the generalized inverse can be use to find the answer and an interpolator is used to insure that complete reconstruction will be achieved. Finally, we validate the method in MATLAB; the conclusion of simulation shows the frame-work presented here is feasible.

Abstract

The communication mechanism for P2P botnet existing is classified into two models: the Send communication model and the Request communication model. We propose an evaluation index including concealment, effectiveness, efficiency and robustness and its calculation method. At the same time we using these evaluation index to simulate, evaluate and analysis the two kinds of models, and study the relationship between them and the botnet basic characteristics.

Abstract

The influence of aspect ratio and orientation to scattering properties of ellipsoid ice particles at 94GHz is studied by Discrete-Dipole Approximation (DDA) method. Absorption efficiency, scattering efficiency, asymmetry factor and backscattering efficiency are computed with aspect ratios vary from 0.2 to 1.0, whose size parameter range are selected from 0 to 5. It is found that the values of scattering properties are increasing if the particle size increases, but if the size is larger than the limit value, oscillation occur, and the oscillation phenomenon will be smoothed by random orientation compared with that of horizontal orientation because scattering properties computed by random orientation method have more average frequency than that of horizontal orientation. In non-oscillating region, the scattering efficiency is larger than the absorption efficiency due to small imaginary part of the complex refractive of ice at 94 GHz, and scattering properties increase if the aspect ratio increases with the same size parameter but this feature is apparent only in the case of horizontal orientation. The asymmetric degree of forward scattering and backscattering increases when particle size increases when size parameter of particle is not exceeding 1.5.

Abstract

India is the seventh largest country in the world, blessed with adequate solar radiation, therefore to setting up a Photovoltaic power plant is a lucrative option. In actual field conditions the performance of the PV modules vary significantly from its Standard Test Condition (STC) due to large change in environmental conditions. It is very important to study the exact meteorological parameters for different locations in India before installation of a Photovoltaic power plant. In this paper, the long-term meteorological parameters for the seventy considered locations in India from National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) renewable energy resource website (Surface Meteorology and Solar Energy) are collected and analyzed in order to select an ideal location for installation of PV power plant. This paper helps the investors, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Electricity Authority and Planning Commission to select proper locations for installation of PV power plant.

Abstract

In this paper,a non parametric method for background subtraction and moving object detection based on adaptive threshold using successive squared differences and including frame differencing process is proposed. the presented scheme focused on the case of adaptive threshold and dependent distance calculation using a weighted estimation procedure. In contrast with the existing update procedures (Firstin First-out, random pickup), We proposed an intuitive update policy to the background model based onassociated decreasing weights. The presented algorithm succeeds on extracting the moving foreground with efficiency and overpasses the problematic of ghost situations. The proposed framework provides robustness to noise. Experiments show competitive results compared to existing approaches and demonstrate the applicability of the proposed scheme in a variety of video surveillance scenarios.

Abstract

The Mathematical model that was developed is a SIR model human-mosquito-mosquito eggs, the rate of displacement of latent mosquitoes become infected mosquito was assumed constant and non-infected eggs were produced by infected mosquitoes and susceptible mosquitoes, while infected eggs were produced by infected mosquitoes. In addition, the temperature factor used in producing susceptible mosquitoes and infected mosquitoes from eggs. The analysis shows two equilibrium state, disease-free equilibrium and endemic equilibrium. The simulation was conducted to show dynamic population where Ro<1 and Ro>1. The result shows the disease-free equilibrium which is stable when Ro<1 and the endemic equilibrium which is stable when Ro>1. This also shows mosquito mortality rate towards the desease in population. If mosquito mortality rate is increased, the basic reproduction number is decreasing, so it can prevent spread in population.
