Abstract

An optical sensor is designed to convert a number of light energy in to electrical energy. The sensor hasbeen successfully measured using light illuminance to achieve electric parameters as the sensor output. In this research the optical sensor design was characterized according to the voltage and current output with the stimulus from mercury lamp. The sensor is customized from Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell with photo-electrode and photo-catalysator of Titanium Dioxide and extracted tobacco chlorophyll dye. Spin coating method was conducted to fabricate the thick layer deposition using selected material. Based on the absorbance measurement, it shows that tobacco dye has the characteristics of visible light absorption in the wavelength of 300-000 nm. The result of this research revealed that from 2 variation of optical sensor design square with active area of (2 cm x 2 cm) and (1 cm x 1 cm). Analitycal result shows that the sensor has wide linear characteristic in certain light illuminance both of output current and voltage.

Abstract

This paper presents several Public Key Cryptography (PKC) algorithms based on the perspective of researchers’ effort since it was invented in the last four decades. The categories of the algorithms had been analyzed which are Discrete Logarithm, Integer Factorization, Coding Theory, Elliptic Curve, Lattices, Digital Signature and Hybrid algorithms. This paper reviewed the previous schemes in different PKC algorithms. The aim of this paper is to present the comparative trends of PKC algorithms based on number of research for each algorithm in last four decades, the roadmap of PKC algorithms since they were invented and the most chosen algorithms among previous researchers. Finally, the strength and drawback of proposed schemes and algorithms also presented in this paper.

Abstract

This paper presents an optimization approach of calibrating a tomato greenhouse energy model using hybrid Evolutionary Programming (EP)-EnergyPlus. The proposed methodology applies automated simulation-based approach by coupling Matlab and EnergyPlus to perform building energy simulation and obtain the best variables configuration with minimal error between the simulated and measured energy of the greenhouse. The proposed method is tested using a tomato greenhouse system located in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The greenhouse envelope is built using 0.15mm thick Transparency Plastic Film. Meanwhile, the electrical loads in the greenhouse consists of 6 exhaust fans, 2 axial fans, 5 fluorescent lamps and 1 irrigation pump. An Evolutionary Programming (EP) algorithm is chosen and programmed in Matlab to find the best configurations for optimum calibration of the greenhouse energy model. Three variables were chosen to find the best configuration which are the operating hours of Exhaust Fan, Axial Fan and Water Pump. The EP optimization algorithm in Matlab is coupled with building energy simulator, EnergyPlus using BCVTB as the coupling tool. Result shows that the EnergyPlus-EP model can provide NMBE and CV(RMSE) within the range recommended by the IPMVP protocol. The proposed method is not only requiring less computation time but also effective in searching for the best variables configuration with minimal error.

Abstract

Nowadays, computers, smart phones, smart watches, printers, projectors, washing machines, fridges, and other mobile devices connected to Internet are exposed to various threats and exploits. Of the various attacks, SQL injection, cross site scripting, Wordpress, and WPA2 attack were the most popular security attacks and will be further investigated in this paper. Kali Linux provides a great platform and medium in learning various types of exploits and peneteration testing. All the simulated attack will be conducted using Kali Linux installed on virtual machine in a compuer with Intel Core i5 and 8 GB RAM, while the victim’s machine is the host computer which run Windows 10 version 1709. Results showed that the attacks launched both on web and firewall were conducted successfully.

Abstract

We have witnessed a rapid growth in the Internet of Things and its contribution to the growth of Smart cities in recent years. Consistent efforts have been undertaken by the Government of India to elevate the growth of this industry. The increase in population and vehicular densities have led to congested roads, inadequate parking facilities and poor infrastructure has called for a technology-driven solution known com-monly as a Smart Parking System (SPS). The solution proposed in this paper is a client-based parking slot reservation system that is implemented using micro-controllers interfaced with sensors for parking vacancy detection. They are also connected to cloud services in order to produce a complete IoT solution, with each micro-controller acting as a node in a network. Additionally, the CAN protocol is deployed for communication between nodes of this network in case of failure of the nodes in the wireless network. This is a solution de-veloped that caters to users mainly residing in Smart Cities and addresses the issue of network node failure.

Abstract

This project discusses on the development of horizontal single axis solar tracker using Arduino UNO which is cheaper, less complex and can still achieved the required efficiency. For the development of horizontal single axis solar tracking system, five light dependent resistors (LDR) has been used for sunlight detection and to capture the maximum light intensity. A servo motor is used to rotate the solar panel to the maximum light source sensing by the light dependent resistor (LDR) in order to increase the efficiency of the solar panel and generate the maximum energy. The efficiency of the system has been tested and compared with the static solar panel on several time intervals. A small prototype of horizontal single axis solar tracking system will be constructed to implement the design methodology presented here. As a result of solar tracking system, solar panel will generate more power, voltage, current value and higher efficiency.

Abstract

Alzheimer is one of the diseases that can cause the patient to act in different and unpredictable ways. This disease destroys memory and thinking skills and, eventually, the ability to carry out the simplest tasks. Advanced in technology actually can help them be more independent doing their routines. Hence, this study was conducted to investigate the relationship between stimulus-response compatibility (SRC) and ambient intelligent elements for Alzheimer’s patients. The aim of this study is to obtain a strong answer on how ambient elements (stimulus) such as ambient colours, lights and pictures can assist Alzheimer’ patients in daily living activities. For this reason, we developed a flashcard game based on ambient colours and pictures to achieve two objectives which are (i) to test the ambient’s factors that highly effect the responses of Alzheimer’s patients and (ii) to observe the response towards the given instructions. This experiment has been tested to 10 participants with mild-stage of Alzheimer’s disease. The findings of this experiment show that the patient response more towards ambient colours compared to the ambient pictures. 90% of respondents capable to complete the task correctly and quickly based on ambient colours. In addition, the experiment proved that the participants have no difficulty in order to understand the instructions given to them for completing the tasks smoothly.
