This article shows a prospective utilizations of flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) controls, like the static VAR compensator (SVC). One of the major motives for setting up an SVC is to recover dynamic voltage controller and thus increase system load aptitude. Static VAR compensator system proposed in this work consists of thyristor switched capacitor and thyristor controlled reactor sets, this style of SVC modelled using MATLAB simulink toolbox. A hybrid genetic algorithm with PI and fuzzy logic controls that used to control and expand the grid performance of the power system. The model results reveal that the Static Var Compensation contribute a decent result in upholding bus voltage after the power network is in an active and steady moment, besides it has a capability of the constancy control. It can totally work as a significant plan of reactive power recompense in power networks.

The present work was an attempt to address a challenge of energy utilization or consumption in WBSN, it used a proposed routing algorithm based on ant optimization technique to distribute energy utilization efficiently on nodes. Thus reducing consumed energy and extending the life cycle of nodes, as well as avoiding damages might be occurred in tissues of patient`s body. At the beginning the proposed protocol was compared with conventional routing protocol LEACH to prove it`s efficiency in the extending of the life cycle of node, then it was used with experimental network was employed to examine energy utilizations. The obtained results were compared with others attained by conventional and developed routing protocols, there was considerable minimizing in the energy consumption that proved efficiency of proposed algorithm.

This research aims to propose an adaptive control system for controlling the speed of the direct current (DC) motor. The system consists of two control loops: the first control loop is a traditional PID controller and the second control loop is an adaptive controller. The role of the adaptive controller is adjusting the output of the control object follows with the output of the reference model. The adjustment mechanism is very simple, but the quality of the whole system is very high: the conversion time is short and there isn't overshoot. The quality of the proposed adaptive control system is also compared to the traditional PID control system to show the advantages of the new system.

The solar radiation prediction in Kuala Terengganu located in Terengganu, Malaysia was investigated in this study to improve the solar system design. Solar radiation data and number of parameters such as solar radiation, temperature, humidity, wind speed and sunshine hours were obtained from Malaysian Meteorological Malaysia MMD. In order to predict the solar radiation, Genetic Programming Techniques (GP) models were develop and tested. Two scenarios were considered in this study in order to validate the efficiency of the proposed model. Coefficients of determination (R2) for the solar radiation during training and testing phases were ranged between 0.99402 to 0.98934 for all months of the year. This study confirms the ability of GP to predict solar radiation values precisely and accurately. The predictions from the GP models could enable scientists to locate and design solar energy systems in Malaysia.

In this paper, two Meta-heuristic techniques; namely ant colony optimization (ACO) and genetic algorithm (GA) have been applied for the optimal design of digital and analog filters. Those techniques have been used to solve multimodal optimization problem in infinite impulse response (IIR) filter design and to select the optimal component values from industrial series as well as to minimize the total design error of a 2nd order Sallen-Key active band-pass filter, also a comparison between the performances reached by those two Meta-heuristics was made in this article.

Patchouli is one of the essential plants that have the most potential and widely cultivated in Indonesia. Patchouli is greedily absorbing soil nutrients and organic matter. Therefore, the selection of soil with high organic matter will maximize the patchouli’s productivity. This paper aims to facilitate soil’s organic matter identification by classifying soil image based on the combination of color and texture features. The color feature extraction was done using the Color Moments method and the texture feature was done using gray level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) method. The selection of features was performed to obtain the best combination of color and texture features. The selected features then was used as input of classification by using modified K-nearest neighbor (MKNN). The samples of soil that used as data were taken from several districts in Blitar, East Java province. The testing result of this research showed the highest accuracy of 93,33% by using 180 training data, and also particular color and texture feature combination.

The substitution box (S-box) is the main block in the encryption system, which replaces the non-encrypted data by dynamic secure and hidden data. S-box can be designed based on complex nonlinear chaotic systems that presented in recent papers as a chaotic S-Box. The hardware implementation of these chaotic systems suffers from long processing time (low speed), and high-power consumption since it requires a large number of non-linear computational models. In this paper, we present a high-speed FPGA implementation of parallel multi-layer selector substitution boxes based on the lorenz chaotic system (PMLS S-Box). The proposed PMLS chaotic S-box is modeled using xilinx system generator (XSG) in 32 bits fixed-point format, and the architecture implemented into Xilinx Spartan-6 X6SLX45 board. The maximum frequency of the proposed PMLS chaotic S-box is 381.764MHz, with dissipates of 77 mwatt. Compared to other S-box chaotic systems, the proposed one achieves a higher frequency and lower power consumption. In addition, the proposed PMLS chaotic S-box is analyzed based on S-box standard tests such as; Bijectivity property, nonlinearity, strict avalanche criterion, differential probability, and bits independent criterion. The five different standard results for the proposed S-box indicate that PMLSC can effectively resist crypto-analysis attacks, and is suitable for secure communications.

This paper is aimed at investigating MPPT of PV system controlled by SPWM which is generated by comparing sinusoidal wave with variable frequency sawtooth wave. Perturb and observe (P&O) method is used for MPPT control of PV system. NPC three-phase three-level converter with LCL filter is designed to produce output voltage with minimum total harmonic distortion (THD) and high efficiency. The simple and fast method to get MPP of PV system with variable irradiation is digital control where the maximum power point is obtained from look-up table for the values of optimum voltage that achieve the maximum power for each irradiance value is used for digital control signal in microcontroller. The output voltage harmonic of multi-level three-phase inverter is controlled using SPWM control. THD of output voltage of multi-level three-phase inverter is 22% of stand-alone and grid-connected PV system. Small rate LCL filter is used to limit voltage harmonics within medium and low voltage limits (5%). THD output voltage of LCL filter is 4.9% and 3.51% of stand-alone and grid-connected PV system respectively.

In this study, optimal parameters estimation is performed for non-linear (Kuramoto-Sivashinsky) equation using a crossbred method between Particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm and (NIM) technique and for the appropriateness we call it (PSO-NIM). It turns out that the optimal parameters significantly improve the solutions when we use a fitness function suitable for the issue. The results confirmed that the get approximate solutions are in suitable pact with the exact solutions and the proposed method provides high accuracy and efficiency in comparison with (NIM) which use traditionally chosen parameters.

This paper addresses a control frequency scheme of the microgrid system using a fractional order PID controller. The proposed Microgrid system is consisted of a photovoltaic system, wind turbine generator, diesel engine generator, fuel cell, and different storage systems like battery energy storage systems, and flywheel energy storage systems. The principal objective of the present paper is to limit the frequency and power deviations by the application of the proposed controller which has five parameters to be determined through optimization techniques. Krill Herd algorithm is used for determining the optimum fractional order PID controller parameters using the integral of squared error. A comparison between the genetic algorithm and krill herd is done, and the obtained simulation results presents that the investigated controller-based Krill Herd outperforms the Genetic Algorithm in terms of fewer fluctuations in power and frequency deviation.
