Abstract

A WBAN can be spread over a person's body, so; posing, dressing, moving of muscles, degree of heat of bodies as well as weather changes in general affect connections among sensors as well as desired point. Secondly, information collected via every sensor can be connected to a person's course of life; so, it can be considered as significant to guarantee that the collected information ought to be given to desired point competently. In this work, a critical cooperating communicating protocol to WBAN established on information has been suggested, called critical data transmission using transmission mode selection (CD-TMS) method established for the architecture of star topology. In the beginning, we performed a studying, also we established a system model can be looked at according to channel los of path, effective transmitting possibility, as well as the out of work time possibility. Thirdly, relaying selecting can be used accompanied by CD-TMS, that lets just the most successful relaying take part in cooperating in a spread manner. Simulating as well as numeral outcomes illustrate that CD-TMS has the ability to develop the performing of a network under common terms comparing with direct transmission mode (DTM) IEEE 802.15.6 CSMA as well as benchmark.

Abstract

With increasing research and advancement in solid-state power electronic devices and microprocessors, various inverter control techniques employing pulse width modulation (PWM) are becoming popular especially in AC motor drive applications. The most commonly used techniques are sinusoidal PWM (SPWM) and space vector modulation PWM (SVPWM). SVPWM is considered to be superior to the SPWM because of better DC bus utilization. In this paper, a real-time digital implementation of SVPWM algorithm for three-phase two level inverter using dSPACE DS1104. The results obtained from the experimentation are closer to that of simulation, which confirms the validity of the implemented algorithm.

Abstract

Heterogeneous wireless sensor networks (HWSN) gathers information from a cooperative network. In HWSN, the sensor nodes are scattered and the major challenges are topology control, battery optimization, packet loss and link lifetime. The existing techniques do not concentrate on all the mentioned issues. The objective of this work is to provide congestion-free data transfer with higher throughput and increased packet delivery ratio. In the proposed methodology, three protocols are designed and developed, namely, hop by hop rate adjustment protocol (HHRA), energy efficient data transfer protocol (EEDT) and alternative routing congestion control protocol (ARCC). The HHRA protocol senses the traffic in the channel and adjusts the transmission rate accordingly to avoid congestion. Secondly, the EEDT protocol is used to find specific nodes that are more efficient and transfer packets through those nodes to improve throughput. The ARCC protocol is used to redirect the path of transmission during the occurrence of congestion. Thus, the proposed traffic contention and control mechanisms ensures congestion free transmission and increases the packet delivery ratio by 23% and average throughput by 20% compared to the dynamic contention window based congestion control (DCWCC) algorithm.

Abstract

In this paper, the optimal sizing of CMOS RF square spiral integrated inductor utilizing three meta-heuristic techniques namely Ant Colony Optimization, Artificial Bee Colony and Differential Evolution is presented. The π-model is employed for the characterization of inductor behavior. In this optimization procedure, the geometrical parameters of the CMOS RF square spiral integrated inductor are considered as the design variables that satisfy the most important constraints such as the fixed value of required inductance 4nH at the operating frequency 2.4 GHz. The design of the integrated square spiral inductor is done with UMC 130 nm CMOS technology. A comparison between the used meta-heuristic techniques is emphasized. The optimization results are checked and validated by the mean of the Momentum advanced design system (ADS).

Abstract

The role of the grounding system in the safety of the power system and protection of personnel is obvious during an unexpected short circuit or lightning discharge at the substation. The aim of this work is to analyze the effects of several parameters: lightning impulse front time, soil resistivity and types of grid materials on the grounding system of the Substation. The ground potential rise (GPR), touch voltage and step voltage of a 50 m x 60 m grounding grid buried at a depth of 0.5 m were computed using CDEGS when injected by impulse with different front times. Results show that the shorter the front time of lightning impulse waveform, the higher the value of GPR, touch voltage and step voltage. Meanwhile, when the value of soil resistivity is increased, the value of GPR, touch voltage and step voltage is also increased. Lastly, different types of grid conductor materials give different values of GPR, touch voltage and step voltage. However, it can be said that the differences are too small to be of any significance.

Abstract

In today's era of vulnerability and volatility, technologies in an organization evolving faster than the traditional landscape. Thus, sets the stage for trust and privacy concern for all the data that flying around in the database. Research on cultural aspects toward privacy starting to attract more ongoing research effort especially in Islamic religious culture. Islam gives great importance to the fundamental human right to privacy. This study aims to investigate Islamic cultural influences on Malaysia's computer professionals' self-regulatory efficacy towards the protection of personal information privacy by adapting the research frameworks of previous works. Further, data for this research obtained through the survey with computer professionals. Out of 226 respondents, 208 data are valid and usable for this study. Spearman's Rank Order Correlation was used to determine the relationship between culture and Information privacy self-regulatory efficacy dimensions. The findings from this research could provide a better understanding of the subject matter and be used as the basis for future studies.

Abstract

Social Constructivism is elaborated as a theoretical background to support modern pedagogy with mobile technology in the digital age. Studies of theories and framework in terms of mobile pedagogy are combed up to find its connection between language teaching and Social Constructivism. Four theoretical framework of mobile pedagogy are listed in this paper to establish the link with Social Constructivism. The analysis of the Zone of Proximal Development from Social Constructivism theory indicates that mobile pedagogy, integrated with technology, pedagogy and subject content, is student-driven model which needs teacher’s guidance in the level that students cannot scaffold knowledge on their own. Teachers have to update pedagogical concept with enhanced technological knowledge for the demand of education in the digital era.

Abstract

Telecommunication networks are vulnerable towards single or simultaneous nodes/links failures, which may lead to the disruption of network areas. The failures may cause performance degradation, reduced quality of services, reduced nodes/links survivability, stability, and reliability. Therefore, it is important to measure and enhance the network robustness, via the use of robustness metrics. This paper gives an overview of several robustness metrics that are commonly used for optical networks, from the structural, centrality and functional perspectives.

Abstract

Continuous partial discharge (PD) monitoring and early PD detection is important in making sure the necessary preventative measures can be taken accordingly. This paper proposed a T-shaped partial ground microstrip patch antenna that is able to detect PD signal within the UHF range. The antenna was designed and simulated using CST Microwave Studio. The antenna was then fabricated using FR4 substrate material and tested for reception test. The simulation results and the analysis from the fabricated antenna confirmed that the proposed antenna able to detect PD signal at UHF range (specifically at about 500 MHz) and fulfilled the design requirements in terms of the return loss, VSWR, bandwidth and gain. Reception test had confirmed that the proposed antenna was able to detect PD signals that are located at maximum distance, ranges from 37 cm to 70 cm (depending on the PD signal strength). The proposed antenna also had succesfully detected PD occurances at 300 MHz to 700 MHz. In conclusion, the proposed T-shaped partial ground microstrip patch antenna had been successfully designed and able to detect PD signal emitted in the UHF range.

Abstract

In this paper cost function and reliability analysis of classic novel symmetric multilevel inverter topology has been presented. Cost function and reliability analysis are the economical factors of the effieciency of an inverter, this made the intrest in this area.cost function deneotes the cost of the inverter based on the power flow, reliability explain the mean time failure propotional to the life span. Firstly the cost function of the novel topology has been proposed using mathematical calculation using various current rating and the results are validated compared with exiting topology. Secondly reliability approach is used to evaluate the reliability of the switch with respect to the failure rate and mean time period of the switch using fedis and markow reliability analysis equations and the results are evaluated for all the switches present in the topology. And the results are the compared with the conventional multilevel inverter, cost function and reliability analysis of the proposed multilevel inverter.
