Abstract

5G is altering the communications future. The 5G literature focuses on wireless and radio technology, but fiber optics play a crucial supporting role in signal transmission to and from the next generation of base stations (BSs) that will serve customers. With the increasing bandwidth requirements of 5G ultra-high-speed applications, passive optical networks (PONs) are the optimal solution. Targeting long-reach 5G PONs, an integrated, high-speed, and cost-effective optical transmitter circuit was constructed and tested. This engine can be combined into a 5G-compliant optical transceiver module. For the purpose of validating the engine performance, a theoretical analysis and an OptiSimTM-based design simulation model are carried out. Bit error rate (BER), phase-shifting, and eye diagram were all taken into account when analyzing the transmitter performance. The article findings validate the optical transmitter design. The design is cost-effective and requires no extra components, such as a filter.

Abstract

Optimization problems occur in most disciplines like engineering, physics, mathematics, economics, administration, commerce, social sciences, and even politics. The conjugate coefficient is the cornerstone of conjugate gradient algorithms with the desired conjugate property. In this study, we discovered fresh second order information for the Hessian from the target function, which might lead to a new search direction. Based on a unique search direction, we proposed the update formula and nonlinear conjugate gradient technique. Under Wolfe line search and moderate objective function assumptions, the strategy has acceptable descent property and is always globally convergent. According to numerical results, the technique is successful and competitive in recovering the original picture from an image corrupted by impulsive noise.

Abstract

Standalone solar PV power system is being used as an option for electrification in remote areas around the world providing basic electricity needs. However, the approach suffers from power mismatch and energy efficiency issues. This paper proposes market-clearing model peer-to-peer energy trading (P2PET) based on multiple standalone solar power system design specification in rural Sarawak, Malaysia. The proposed system combined multiple standalone solar PV system within the community through P2PET trading concept. P2PET creates the platform for energy transaction between each system and even support business such as a workshop to operate high-power electrical appliances. As energy generation is constrained in an off-grid system, the proposed market-clearing model prioritizes the energy trading between the seller and business buyer who bring more benefit to the community. Subsequently, participants in energy trading have a selection of strategies to maximize personal benefits such as profit earning or energy sufficiency. Simulation studies are applied to verify the performance of the proposed model which increases energy efficiency, improves the local economy, and maximizes the community’s welfare from electrification.

Abstract

The dingo optimization algorithm (DOA) adopts the social life of dingo dogs. The dingo is a breed of ancient dog originating from Australia. Dingo hunting strategies such as assault with persecution, flocking, and scavenging behavior became the inspiration for DOA. In this paper, DOA is applied to a power system stabilizer (PSS) to dampen low-frequency oscillations (LFO) in a single-machine infinite bus (SMIB). DOA is used to obtain optimal parameters for PSS. The damping controller is designed for optimal lead-lag control. To obtain the performance of the DOA method, the results were compared with the uncontrolled method, conventional PSS, Whale optimization algorithm (WOA), and grasshopper optimization algorithm (GOA). Simulation using MATLAB with three different operating conditions, namely light load (20%), medium load (50%) and high load (100%). From the simulation using MATLAB with SMIB modeling, it was found that the application of the DOA method on PSS has the ability to reduce the average undershoot value by 28.16% and reduce the average undershoot value to 65.57% compared to the conventional PSS method.

Abstract

This paper proposes a hybrid teaching learning-based optimization- particle swarm optimization (TLBO-PSO) Algorithm for optimal distributed generation (DG) and STATCOM placement. A multi-objective formulation is developed that optimizes the DG and STATCOM placement in IEEE 33 and real-time 52 bus distribution system. The objective function formulated involves maximizing cost-benefit and voltage stability factors while minimizing network security index and power losses. Simulation is carried out in MATLAB/Simulink for different systems and different cases. The results for single and multiple STATCOM and DG are compared with TLBO and PSO algorithm and the results exhibit better convergence performance with the hybrid optimization algorithm.

Abstract

The variation of the parameters of the autonomous underwater robot (inertia, hydrodynamics), external disturbances, the non-linearity of the model to be controlled, and measurement errors due to the sensors are the factors that have a negative influence on the robot's trajectory following. Autonomous submarine. A control law that takes these different factors into account would be an adequate solution to this control problem. This work is a simulation study of some advanced control techniques for controlling the heading of an autonomous underwater robot. We have developed two robust command structures. One of them is based on the sliding-mode control, which is applied to the considered model. The other is based on the control of backstepping. Several simulation tests were done to see how the robot moved after the two control methods were used.

Abstract

The data points created by users with their online behavior are the primary source of data analysis in various research studies. One of such studies that even more contributes directly or indirectly to other application domains is personality trait analysis. There are well-defined models witnessed to be strong enough to characterize the individual personalities. Some prominent models are the Big Five, Interpersonal Circumplex, and DISC. To make it possible the model should always be fed with a huge amount of data. Here comes the limitation is that the user's online behavior is spread across various platforms resulting in various forms of data points. The segregated form of the data limits the model performance, which is the primary focus of the proposed work. Among these, the big five personality traits model has become so familiar because of its simplicity and dominance. The proposed work illustrated the mapping of various data forms namely measures of the source dataset (MBTI) and Interpersonal Circumplex data to Big five data.

Abstract

Recently, people became more dependent on online social networks with the increasing use and the rapid development of information technology. Those environments constitute an important area where users interact and create communication ties to maintain their relationships. Furthermore, the time life of these relationships is depending on reputations of the users. Every source (information provider) has a reputation which depends on his frequency of publishing, but also the opinions given by the observers (others users) has an important impact on the determination of this reputation. Since, everyone is trying selfishly to keep a good reputation; a competition is met within these networks. This paper aims to solve this kind of competition through a game theoretic approach; we formulate the said competition as a non-cooperative game, demonstrate the uniqueness of the existent Nash Equilibrium which seems to be the convent solution in this case, then present results clarifying and illustrating the proposed modeling method.

Abstract

The conventional power plants often bring in power quality concerns for instance high power losses and poor voltage profile to the network which are caused by the locations of power plants that are placed a distance away from loads. With proper planning and systematic allocation, the introduction of distributed generation (DG) into the network will enhance the performance and condition of the power system. This paper utilizes the optimization approach named whale optimization algorithm (WOA) in the search of the most ideal location and size of DG while ensuring the reduction of power losses and the minimization of the voltage deviation. WOA implementation is done in the IEEE 33-bus radial distribution system (RDS) utilizing MATPOWER and MATLAB software for no DG, one DG and two DGs installation. The outcome obtained from using WOA was compared to other well-known optimization methods and WOA has shown its competency after comparison; the optimal location of WOA with other methods showing almost the same result. The best result presented was the system with two DGs installed due to the losses of the system was recorded to be the least compared to one DG or no DG installation.
