Abstract

With the development of information technology, a large number of domain scientific data have been accumulated with the characteristics of distribution and heterogeneity. It has important significance to acquire exact scientific data from multiple data sources for cooperative research. The existing data integration and information retrieval techniques cannot solve the problems of data semantic heterogeneity and retrieval inaccuracy very well. In this paper, an ontology driven domain scientific data retrieval model is proposed, which uses domain ontology to describe user query and queried data. User query is posed on domain ontology schema. Data retrieval for distributed and heterogeneous data sources is realized through constructing mapping relations between them and domain ontologyschema. We developed a prototype for material scientific data, and the experimental results show that the proposed model is effective. Our model can also provide some means of use for reference to other domain scientific data retrieval. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i2.3860

Abstract

Fuel cell powered systems have low voltage and high current output characteristics. Therefore, the output voltage of the fuel cell must be stepped up by DC-DC converter. In this paper an integrated mathematical model for proton exchange membrane fuel cell power system with DC-DC converter is described by analyzing the working mechanism of the proton exchange membrane fuel cell and the boost DC-DC converter. Fuzzy sliding mode control scheme is proposed to realize stable output voltage under different loads. Simulation operations are carried out and results are compared with fuzzy control and sliding mode control. It is shown that the use of the proposed fuzzy sliding mode controller can achieve good control effect. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i5.2553

Abstract

Installation of distributed generation (DG) in distribution networks, in addition to the benefits, will also cause drawback and disadvantages which can bring difficulties for grid operator. Thus, prior to installation of DGs, it is essential to have deeply studied about their installation in the network and it is needed to make some changes in traditional network. Implementation of smart grids is one of the main requirements for the proper and efficient operation of DGs. In Iran, Smart grid is also being implemented, but with the development of DGs, electricity distribution companies face new problems related to DGs every day. One of the most important problems is about effects of the DGs on proper operation of protective equipment which is mainly due to radial distribution network. That is because in Iran, despite the implementation of smart grids, distribution networks are designed and implemented radially and airlines with isolated neutral point is usually used in the distribution network. So, in this article, the impacts of distributed generation resources on distribution networks in Iran and Protection and operational problems which may cause in this area are studied and solutions to these problems are provided.

Abstract

This paper presents the physical and optical properties of AZO thin films on Teflon substrate at low deposition temperature by spray pyrolysis. In this study, the effect of different process parameters such as spray time and substrate to nozzle distance on the physical and optical characteristic of aluminium doped zinc oxide (AZO) deposited on Teflon substrates was investigated. The AZO thin films were successfully deposited onto Teflon substrate by spray pyrolysis technique at low deposition temperature. The physical analysis by X-ray diffraction (XRD) shows that the deposited Teflon substrate films have a preferred orientation along the direction (100) and (101). Optical measurements were conducted using Jasco/V-670 Ex Uv-Vis-NIR Spectrophotometer model to confirms that in visible ray it is possible to get good reflectance of AZO films with a reflection of 80%. The values of band gaps Eg were calculated from the spectra of UV-Visible reflectance that were vary between 3.06 and 3.14 eV.

Abstract

Power head is the main motive mechanism of rotary drilling rig. High axial pressure and high frequency is one of its typical working conditions. Axial loading test is a key point in power head performance tests. Overall design, system theoretical analysis and simulation of power head axial loading system were carried out. The bond graph model and state equations of power head axial servo loading system were built on the basis of bond graph theory. Hydraulic system simulation model was constructed and axial steady-state and dynamic loading simulation was made by use of hydraulic simulation software. The maximum axial steady-state load is up to 450kN and the dynamic frequency is 20Hz, both of which can meet the technical requirements. The simulation validates the feasibility of the scheme about power head axial loading system and it provides theory and practice guidance for perfecting the loading system. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i10.3390

Abstract

The paper firstly established the warehouse target locating and tracking system model based on wireless sensor networks. The principle of Location and tracking is applying maximum likelihood estimation algorithm of multilateral measurement method to calculating the coordinates of the unknown node. According to monitoring motion trajectory of the same unknown target node within a continuous period of time, the motion equation can be established. When the state equation of warehouse target tracking system is non-linear, EKF and UKF filtering algorithm are respectively applied to acquiring the state estimate of the warehouse target motion equation, so as to achieve the effective tracking of warehouse target. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i6.5063

Abstract

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) has been considered to be a formula for overcoming various requirements like surveillance, health care, traffic surveillance and defense systems. As an aid to the demands for Wireless sensor network, research has been going on the efficient consumption of energy and secure communication areas for WSN. Here introducing Ant colony optimization based Optimized dynamic Secure multipath routing protocol (ODMRP) have improvised WSN in terms of energy efficiency, performance, strength and scalability. This paper proposed mechanism of Ant Colony Optimization based on the optimized dynamic secure multipath routing protocol (ODMRP-ACO) for data transmission in the WSNs.  This eases the data transmission via WSNs. The shortest path between the source node and the destination node is analyzed by the ant colony cooperation which is based on the ACO. There are several routing protocols like Energy-aware and Secure Routing with Trust (ESRT-ACO), Split multipath routing protocol-Ant colony Optimization (SMR-ACO), Light Weight Trust Based routing protocol (TLB-AODV) and AODV routing protocols that are built with the ACO based Routing Protocol. They are concerned over the End to End Delay, Packet Delivery Rate, Routing Overhead, Throughput and Energy Efficiency. The data analytic results have proven to be effective compared to the other routing protocols designed for WSN. This is because; the overall ODMRP-ACO was calculated to be 96.98% better than the other existing. For the newly developed ODMRP-ACO protocol, the simulation platform used is NS2 simulation software.

Abstract

In underwater acoustic communication systems, inter-symbol interference (ISI) caused by communication channel distortion is the main factor affecting the quality of communication. Aiming at the shortcomings of computational complexity, slow convergence rate, and poor stability of Multi-Modulus Algorithm (MMA), a quadratic inverse function Tsallis entropy of Cascade Multi-Modulus blind equalization Algorithm (TCMMA) was proposed. In the proposed algorithm, quadratic inverse function Tsallis entropy is fused with Parzen window probability density estimation method, and directly used as the cost function in cascade  blind equalizer to reduce the residual mean square error, and the normalized wavelet transform is used to speed up the convergence speed. The simulation results with underwater acoustic channel show the superiority of the proposed algorithm. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i4.2371

Abstract

In the embedded systems of visual navigation, due to the limitations of images capture working environment conditions, there are sometimes defects of nonuniform illumination and noisy in the captured images. Therefore, global threshold methods are unfeasible. On the contrary, image binarization using local threshold methods are more appropriate. However, local threshold methods which take more time to calculatet can’t satisfy the requirement of real-time performance in embedded systems. In this paper, taking these two limitations into consideration, we proposed an efficient and fast method to determine the threshold value by using integral image and statistical methods which is similar to the local threshold method and meet the requirement of real-time performance in embedded systems. After experiments, for the proposed method, the result has demonstrated that the processing speed is nearly twice the global threshold method. And the processing quality closes to that of local threshold method. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i1.3359
