Abstract

Wireless sensor networks (WSN) have become increasingly popular in a variety of fields in recent years. This is due to the development of their capabilities, which include remote environmental monitoring, process automation, telemedicine, and many other domains. Besides, among the widely used modern WSN radio technologies, we find impluse radio ultra wide band (IR-UWB) that is recognized by their advantages regarding low power consumption, low cost, low complexity and high resistance to multipath fading in outdoor wireless networks. Energy consumption minimization, packet delivery ratio improvement and latency minimization are the main objectives in this work. The chosen performance metrics (energy consumption, packet delivery ratio and latency) are justified by the direct impact of these three parameters on the network’s efficiency. Accordingly, we proposed and introduced an outdoor non-line-of-sight (NLOS) packet delivery ratio using broadband radio access network (BRAN) channel to improve WSN’s based on IR-UWB performance in terms of energy consumption, packets delivery ratio (PDR) and latency.

Abstract

Medications are vital for patients and especially for those who are receiving treatment in hospitals. Providing medications for these people is essential to maintain their health. On the other hand, medication dispensing error is one of the most common challenges that face clinical pharmacists and medical staff. These errors frequently occurred due to poor medication systems and/or human factors (i.e. environmental conditions, fatigue or staff shortage). These factors may affect prescribing, transcribing, administration, dispensing and monitoring practices which can result in disability, severe harm and even death. Avoiding medication dispensing errors is the key motivation of this paper. Consequently, a biometric-based dispensing system has been designed and implemented. The system can be installed at hospital wards and used for delivering and monitoring inpatients doses. It consists of three parts; hardware, software and mechanical part. Three 4-phase stepper motors are used for controlling the mechanical part of this system. An optical fingerprint sensor is used which is compatible with the ESP32 low-power SoC for scanning patients’ fingerprints to recognize and store their data. The system directly updates its database whenever is used by the inpatients, so that nobody can get additional doses. This system is cost-effective, reliable and easy to use.

Abstract

This paper proposes a hybrid teaching learning-based optimization- particle swarm optimization (TLBO-PSO) Algorithm for optimal distributed generation (DG) and STATCOM placement. A multi-objective formulation is developed that optimizes the DG and STATCOM placement in IEEE 33 and real-time 52 bus distribution system. The objective function formulated involves maximizing cost-benefit and voltage stability factors while minimizing network security index and power losses. Simulation is carried out in MATLAB/Simulink for different systems and different cases. The results for single and multiple STATCOM and DG are compared with TLBO and PSO algorithm and the results exhibit better convergence performance with the hybrid optimization algorithm.

Abstract

There are methods of supplying the required energy to the load while reducing the cost relatively, but do not take into account the amount of reserved energy; this is not preferred if batteries are not used to store the excess energy produced. The proposed method is a mathematical model to calculate the system size for supplying a load in an area far from the electrical grid where there are huge sources of biomass energy and high rates of solar radiation. The system includes three energy sources to generate electrical energy from solar energy, biogas in addition to a diesel generator supplying a specific load without batteries. The proposed model provides a solution that achieves an optimized system design while minimizing reserved energy taking into account minimizing the cost. The method assumes that the load is supplied first from the solar generator, when the load gets higher, the biogas generator is introduced, and the diesel generator works only if the load exceeds the capacity of the renewable sources. This scenario depends on increasing the contribution of renewable resources compared to fossil fuel.

Abstract

The fast development in deep learning techniques, besides the wide spread of social networks, facilitated fabricating and distributing images and videos without prior knowledge. This paper developed an evolutionary learning algorithm to automatically design a convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture for deepfake detection. Genetic algorithm (GA) based on residual network (ResNet) and densely connected convolutional network (DenseNet) as building block units for feature extraction versus multilayer perceptron (MLP), random forest (RF) and support vector machine (SVM) as classifiers generates different CNN structures. A local search mutation operation proposed to optimize three layers: (batch normlization, activation function, and regularizes). This method has the advantage of working on different datasets without preprocessing. Findings using two datasets evidence the efficiency of the suggested approach where the generated models outperform the state-of-art by increasing 1% in the accuracy; this confirms that intuitive design is the new direction for better generalization.

Abstract

The variation of the parameters of the autonomous underwater robot (inertia, hydrodynamics), external disturbances, the non-linearity of the model to be controlled, and measurement errors due to the sensors are the factors that have a negative influence on the robot's trajectory following. Autonomous submarine. A control law that takes these different factors into account would be an adequate solution to this control problem. This work is a simulation study of some advanced control techniques for controlling the heading of an autonomous underwater robot. We have developed two robust command structures. One of them is based on the sliding-mode control, which is applied to the considered model. The other is based on the control of backstepping. Several simulation tests were done to see how the robot moved after the two control methods were used.

Abstract

There is presently a shortage of preservation of intangible cultural heritage and places for distributing tangible cultural heritage artifacts, regardless of their high value and usability for a nation. Despite efforts to protect cultural heritage, such as mapping and designing information systems to ensure the authenticity of information circulating in the community about intangible traditions and tangible sites obtained from different sources, many historical information places have been converted into new beliefs and buildings. Therefore, this research aims to provide information to promote public awareness about the distribution of tangible sites and intangible information about cultural heritage. A system development method with a prototype model comprising the stages of design and evaluation, system coding, and program testing, alongside system evaluation and usage, was employed. Subsequently, the results showed that the mapping information system increases the effectiveness and efficiency of delivering intangible and tangible cultural heritage information to the public and tourists.

Abstract

One of the major problems in direct power-controlled grid-connected voltage source converters is that during voltage dips, the converter current increases to compensate for the reduced grid voltage. The most common voltage dips are unsymmetrical, and they cause unbalance and distortion in the converter current. This paper introduces a new, simple but effective algorithm which limits the current in a direct power-controlled grid-connected voltage source converter during voltage dips. A positive-sequence virtual-flux based control scheme is employed and this makes the current balanced and sinusoidal during unsymmetrical voltage dips. The proposed control clearly demonstrates the performance which is illustrated through various simulations and experimental work. The current during unsymmetrical voltage dips is limited in magnitude and is balanced, with low distortion. The Implementation of this control scheme will enable voltage source converters to stay connected to the grid during voltage dips as required by most grid codes.

Abstract

The improvement of different data-sharing technology has increasingly permeated many industries as technology continues to improve. As a result, for the value of the data to be realized, data sharing and security are essential. However, a fundamental data sharing mechanism is difficult to check for electronic data usage traces. Furthermore, data providers' unwillingness to provide their data is a challenge. Taking use of the dispersed ledger, smart contract, data trust, and traceability aspects of blockchain technology. This research presents a data-sharing model based on blockchain technology optimizing to overcome the challenges in terms of security and control, of conventional centralized data sharing and management, enabling safe access to the data as a result. Moreover, the research assesses the prototype's usefulness and security. Additionally, this paper suggests a method for using blockchain technology to optimize the efficiency of data sharing. This study showed that data sharing via the blockchain technology paradigm proposed in this work is feasible, secure, controllable, and efficient. This was demonstrated in a novel way employing blockchain technology.

Abstract

With the rapid development of cloud storage, more data owners store their data on the remote cloud to reduce the heavy local storage overhead. Cloud storage provides clients with a storage space that they may outsource and use on a pay-as-you-go basis. Due to data ownership separation and management, local data owners lose control over their data. Hence, all the operations over the outsourced data such as data transfer, update, and deletion, will be executed by the remote cloud server. As a result of that, various security challenges appear in terms of data privacy and integrity. In addition to data deletion that becomes an important security challenge, once a cloud user intends to delete his data, it must be sure that data is deleted from all cloud storage sources and prevent the cloud server from reserving the data maliciously for economic interests. In this paper, we present and discuss several types of research that use different technologies to solve assured deletion problems and verification the deletion result. The paper also presents a thorough analysis of the surveyed protocols in terms of fine-grained, security, performance, and requirements of remote cloud storage design.
