Abstract

Utilization of banana peel waste in cosmetics has not been done much. banana peel (Musa AAB) has good antioxidant activity to ward off free radicals. Antioxidants are more practical to use in the from of a facial spray gel. This research aims to know the effect of 70% ethanol extract facial spray gel formulation of banana peel (Musa AAB) on physical properties, physical stability and antioxidant activity carried out by DPPH free radical immersion method. Facial spray gel is made from extract concentrations of 4%, 6% and 8%. The results of the evaluation of physical properties showed that the higher the concentration of extract in the formulation would cause an increase in the valueof adhesion, pH and viscosity. but the value of the spraying pattern and pump delivery has decreased. Evaluation of physical stability showed that all formulas were stable at room temperature (25-27oC) with a storage period of 6 weeks. The results showed that the best antioxidant activity was found at extract concentration of 8% with IC50 value of 31.996 ppm.

Hyрerрigmentatiоn iѕ a соnԁitiоn where the оver рigment in the ѕkin beсauѕe оf melanоgeneѕiѕ inсreaѕeԁ. Оne оf the faсtоrѕ whiсh make it inсreaѕe iѕ UV light. It сan be ѕeen by blaсk ѕроtѕ оr brоwn ѕtainѕ оn the ѕkin. There are twо main reaсtiоnѕ in melanin biоѕyntheѕiѕ. Abstract

Delima (Punica granatum L.) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang memiliki khasiat antioksidan, antiinflamasi dan antimikroba. Salah satu bagian tanaman delima yang berkhasiat adalah bijinya. Biji delima dapat diproses menjadi minyak atsiri dengan metode ektraksi mekanik dengan pengepresan. Minyak atsiri biasa digunakan untuk kesehatan kulit seperti mengatasi infeksi jerawat. Minyak atsiri biji buah delima memiliki kandungan asam punisat, polifenol, asam askorbat, tokoferol, triterpen, isoflavon, lignin dan alkaloid. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui karakterisasi minyak atsiri biji buah delima dan uji aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri penyebab jerawat Propionibacterium acnes. Karakterisasi minyak atsiri biji buah delima memberikan hasil rendemen minyak 5,2%; indeks bias 1,51 dan bobot jenis 0,946. Pada uji aktivitas antibakteri minyak atsiri biji buah delima menggunakan 7 kelompok perlakuan dan 3 kali pengulangan dengan konsentrasi 12,5; 25; 50; 100 dan 200 mg/ml, kontrol positif (klindamisin), serta kontrol negatif (tween 2,5% dalam etanol 96%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan minyak biji buah delima memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acnes dengan KHM (Konsentrasi Hambat Minimum) sebesar 12,5 mg/ml. Analisa data One Way ANOVA menunjukkan adanya perbedaan bermakna pada setiap kelompok perlakuan dengan nilai sig < 0,05.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is a disease caused by Dengue virus transmitted to humans through the bite of the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albocpictus mosquitoes. Some efforts can be made to prevent DHF, namely, by controlling the vector to break the life cycle of mosquitoes so as to reduce contact between mosquitoes as vectors with humans. Larvaside is a class of pesticides that can kill insects that are not yet mature or as larval killers, but the use of synthetic insecticides for a long time can cause resistance to mosquito larvae or target insects. This study aims to determine the larvicidal activity of methanol-water fraction of telang flower (Clitoria ternatea L.) against larvae of Aedes aegypti instar III. The concentration of methanol-water fraction tested was 4 drops (200mg @ 100ml), 6 drops (300mg @ 100ml), 8 drops (400mg @ 100ml) and 10 drops (500mg @ 100ml), control (-) aquadest and control (+) themephos. Larvicide activity testing is done by weighing each concentration then dissolving it in PAM water containing 25 larvae per @ 100ml each, and each concentration is replicated 4 times. LC50 is obtained in concentrations of 8 drops (400mg @ 100ml) which is 56%. One Way ANOVA statistical analysis test results showed there were significant differences between each concentration in the treatment with a significance level of p <0.05. This means that each concentration of methanol-water fraction has different activity as larvaside against larvae of Aedes aegypti instar III. Abstract

ABSTRAKKangkung (Ipomoea aquatica Forsk.) secara empiris dikenal dapat memicu pertumbuhan rambut, namun belum ada penelitian yang membuktikan pernyataan tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk mengetahui stabilitas fisik dan aktivitas pertumbuhan rambut pada kelinci jantan sediaan hair tonic yang mengandung ekstrak etanol daun kangkung dengan variasi konsentrasi 5%, 10%, dan 15%. Sediaan hair tonic dibuat dengan bahan tambahan etanol 96%, propilenglikol, metil paraben, natrium metabisulfit, natrium-EDTA,dan tween 80. Uji stabilitas dilakukan pada suhu tinggi (40°C), suhu kamar (25°C), dan suhu rendah (4°C). Uji aktivitas diaplikasikan pada rambut kelinci jantan yang telah dicukur sebelumnya. Penentuan aktivitas dilakukan dengan perhitungan panjang rambut dan bobot rambut kelinci jantan. Hasil uji stabilitas fisik menunjukkan ketiga formula tidak stabil dalam penyimpanan suhu tinggi (40°C), suhu kamar (25°C), dan suhu rendah (4°C) secara homogenitas. Formula yang memberi hasil potensial terhadap pertumbuhan rambut kelinci jantan adalah hair tonic dengan konsentrasi ekstrak etanol daun kangkung 5%.Kata kunci: Kangkung, Hair tonic, Pertumbuhan rambut, Uji Stabilitas, Uji Aktivitas

Abstract

Аcne iѕ аn inflаmmаtоry cоnditiоn thаt iѕ оne оf the cаuѕeѕ becаuѕe оf the bаcteriаl аctivity оf Рrорiоnibаcterium аcneѕ. Turmeric rhizоme (Curcumа dоmeѕticа Vаl) iѕ а рlаnt thаt cоntаinѕ eѕѕentiаl оilѕ. Thiѕ ѕtudy аimѕ tо determine the chаrаcteriѕticѕ оf the turmeric rhizоme eѕѕentiаl оil (Curcumа dоmeѕticа Vаl) аnd itѕ аctivity аgаinѕt Рrорiоnibаcterium аcneѕ аcne-cаuѕing bаcteriа. The ѕtаgeѕ оf the ѕtudy included the determinаtiоn оf chemicаl cоmроnentѕ, refrаctive index, ѕрecific grаvity, аnd аntibаcteriаl роtentiаl оf turmeric rhizоme eѕѕentiаl оil (Curcumа dоmeѕticа Vаl) in inhibiting the grоwth оf Рrорiоnibаcterium аcneѕ with а cоncentrаtiоn оf 200 mg / ml, 100 mg / ml, 50 mg / ml, 25 mg / ml, 12.5 mg / ml hаѕ а inhibitiоn zоne оf 3.76 mm, 4.54 mm, 5.14 mm, 5.74 mm, 6.2 mm with the diffuѕiоn methоd, then the determinаtiоn оf the Minimum Inhibitоry Cоncentrаtiоn (MIC) with cоncentrаtiоn 12.5 mg / ml аnd 10 mg / ml. Abstract

Edible Film preparations are transparent thin layers which are cut at a certain length and width which can dissolve immediately after contact with a small amount of water (saliva). Celery (Apium graveolens L) is one of the plants that is efficacious to overcome bad breath which has chemical substances such as flavonoids and which can function as antibacterial, besides that there are also alkaloids, phenolics, triterpenoids, steroids and glycosides. Celery was extracted by maceration using 96% ethanol followed by the characterization of celery extract. The edible film formulation of 96% celery ethanol extract was made with three formulas F1, F2, and F3 with each concentration of ethanol extract 96% celery 2.5%, 5%, and 7.5%. The results showed that 96% ethanol extract of celery can be formulated into edible film preparations because the evaluation of edible film preparations including organoleptics and morphology, uniformity in weight, thickness, surface pH of the film and disintegration time met the predetermined requirements. Edible film preparations that have good stability at 30oC and the preferred formula, namely in formula II, have the preferred taste, texture, smell and color by the panelists.Keywords: Edible film preparations, extracts, celery (Apium graveolens L)

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the physical condition and stability of effervescent tablets containing probiotic bacteria differed from other effervescent tablets in the market. The bacterium used to make effervescent tablets is Lactobacillus Bulgariscus which is usually found in yogurt which usually helps the process of forming milk into yogurt. This effervescent tablet uses 3 variations of malic acid and citric acid: 0.8: 0.4; 0.4: 0.4; 0.4: 0.8. Tablets made using probiotic bacterial powders are dried using a spray dryer and using a wet granulation method to make effervescent tablets. The results showed that effervescent tablets containing probiotic bacteria had the results of each evaluation in accordance with the requirements of the 5th edition of Indonesia pharmacopoeia and the best and most stable formula was formula 1 and the formula that barely met the requirements was formula 3. In the test results stability is known that the most ideal storage temperature on effervescent tablets is at cold temperatures around 80. Because at that temperature the bacteria are in the stationary phase and the tablets are noteasy to get an acid-base reaction in the Effervescent tablets.Keywords: Probiotics, Effervescent Tablets, Stability, Lactobacillus

Abstract

Abstract Free radical can damaged human body cells, antioxidant can inhibit the effect of free radical. The research was about potential antioxidant activity of extracts of the skin fraction of robusta coffe bean (Coffea canephora Pierre ex A.Froehner). Extraction used maceration method with methanol 3x3 says at room temperature, yield of extract was 6,1% b/b. Fractionation based on differences in polarity, there were fraction of n-hexane, ethyl acetate and water fraction. Antioxidant test used a Uv-Vis Spectrophotometer with the method of inhibiting free radical DPPH (1,1-Diphenyl-2-Picrylhidrazyl) to fraction n-hexane, ethyl acetate and water at some concentration, 10 ppm, 30 ppm, 50 ppm, 70 ppm, and 90 ppm. The inhibition of free radicals (% inhibition) extract and fractions increased by a corresponding increase in concentration of the test. % inhibition value at 10 ppm for fraction of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and the water fraction repectively were 20,5%, 45,14%, and 10,3%. IC50 of extract fraction of n-hexane was 187,019ppm, exstract fraction ethyl acetate was 40,687ppm and extract fraction water was 257,018ppm. The data obtained then analyzed statistically using one-way anova test then followed by a post hoc Least Significant Difference (LSD) test with a confidence level of 95%. One-way anova test results showed that there were significant differences between treatment groups (P <0.05). The LSD test results showed that each treatment group had a significant difference. The results of this test also showed that statistically, the treatment group with the best IC50 value respectively was the group of vitamin C, ethyl acetate fraction, n-hexane fraction and water fraction Keywords: Antioxidants; Skin of robusta coffee beans (Coffea canephora Pierre Ex A.Froehner); DPPH; Extraction; Fractionation.
