Abstract

Pancoran Village is one of the densely populated locations in South Jakarta. The size of the population and the diversity of activities in the Pancoran Sub-district contribute to the increase in the number and problems of waste generation. Organic waste from households dominates waste generation in Indonesia. The generation of organic waste in the Pancoran village has the potential to be managed well. The Composting method using Takakura baskets is very appropriate to be introduced as an appropriate technology in processing organic waste. The problem that occurs at this time is that community participation is still not well-directed and well-organized, there is still a lack of civil society in the waste problem. The potential for household waste to be processed can even be of economic value, but has not been maximally implemented because there is still a lack of motivation and insights from the community in managing waste. The Waste Management Training in the Pancoran village has been carried out which was attended by 20 participants consisting of housewives from several RT representatives on RW 04 Pancoran village, South Jakarta. With the presentation method, the practice of making Takakura baskets, discussion and question and answer. The training for processing household scale waste using Takakura baskets is expected to increase community involvement in the Pancoran Sub-District in managing their waste, and can socialize and motivate other households in the vicinity so that it can be one example of a clean, healthy and waste-free area.

Abstract

Floods that hit parts of Jakarta today, due to human negligence in paying attention to the environment. Human activities by building buildings or other facilities without taking into account the open land area causes the rainwater catchment area to decrease. Likewise also the disposal of garbage in rivers or gutters that are not in place, so that water can not flow smoothly, which in turn results in an overflow of water. Therefore, it takes the making of biopori infiltration holes (LRB), where the main ingredient is organic waste. The LRB functions to absorb water into the soil and organic waste planted in holes can be used to make compost. LRB does not require a large area, and the manufacturing process is straightforward, this is undoubtedly the right solution for areas with narrow open land. However, this appropriate technology must be accompanied by community care to want to sort waste and treat LRB. Community care to preserve nature is the primary key to flood prevention.

Abstract

Waste management is necessary, given the adverse effects on health and the environment. Waste becomes a breeding ground for disease-causing organisms and carriers. Garbage can also pollute the environment and disturb the environmental balance. The first effort in integrated waste management is sorting, starting from sources of waste producers, from households, markets, industries, public facilities, commercial areas, and other sources. Trash has economic value if appropriately managed. Waste can be processed into new energy in various forms, for example, recycled paper or compost. For this reason, it is necessary to educate the public about preventive measures, limitations of waste generation, procedures for sorting and handling waste from home, and simple waste management techniques such as making waste a useful material. Reduce, reuse, and recycle (3R) activities or limit waste, reuse rubbish and recycle rubbish are all activities that can reduce anything that can cause debris, reuse trash that is fit for use for the same function or other functions, and operations to process waste to be used as new products. The manager of the garbage bank, which is a social mobilizer, has become one of the spearheads in handling the garbage problem in the community. Must be able to be a social mobilizer. The purpose of the activity is to educate residents about the application of the 3R concept through workshops on waste management from home and increase the membership of the garbage bank and to socialize the utilization of "Mandiri Composter," which is applied to members of the garbage bank community. The location of activities in one of the RWs in the Depok area, namely RW 01, Cisalak Village.
