Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' mathematical communication skills in solving problems related to measures of central tendency in real-life contexts, focusing on the aspects of drawing, mathematical expression, and written text, as well as types of Newman’s errors. The analysis involved 25 students, with three selected as representatives based on their mathematical communication skill levels. The findings indicate that, on average, students exhibited a low level of errors across the three aspects, with average scores of 7.5 for drawing, 8.0 for mathematical expression, and 8.5 for written text. In the drawing aspect, students were able to present solutions visually well, although minor inaccuracies were noted. In the mathematical expression aspect, students understood the problems but tended to omit explicit solution steps. For the written text aspect, students often provided numerical results without formulating conclusions in sentence form. The main factors causing errors were a lack of habit in writing solution steps and conclusions, as well as a need for improved accuracy. A differentiated learning approach based on local wisdom positively contributed to reducing student error rates. However, strengthening practice in writing solution steps and composing conclusions is necessary to improve students' overall mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

Abstract

The matriculation program at Tribuana Kalabahi University aims to help new students adapt to the academic environment through effective initial teaching. However, to ensure that this program runs according to students' expectations, a comprehensive eval_uation of the quality of teaching is needed. This study aims to eval_uate the satisfaction of new students of the Chemistry and Management Study Programs with matriculation teaching based on aspects of teaching quality, methods, and lecturer-student interaction. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through a closed questionnaire on a Likert scale of 1-5 distributed to 59 matriculation students. Data analysis using descriptive statistics showed that 87.64% of Chemistry Study Program students and 90.53% of Management Study Program students were satisfied to very satisfied with the teaching provided. Based on the existing assessment criteria, this level of satisfaction places the quality of teaching in the very good category, although there were 11.72% and 9.45% of students in each study program who were quite satisfied, indicating room for improvement. In conclusion, matriculation teaching in both study programs has met students' expectations with a high level of satisfaction, but efforts to improve quality are still needed to achieve more optimal results

Abstract

Photocatalytic degradation of MB was applied using Ce-doped TiO2 under UV-visible light irradiation. The aim of this investigation is to improve the light absorption ability of Ce-doped TiO2 under UV-visible light irradiation to degradation of MB. The TiO2 catalyst was provided by the sol-gel method and addition doping of Ce with 1wt%, 2wt%, 3wt%, 4wt%, and 5wt% concentration. The characterization of photocatalyst has been observed through XRD, UV-vis spectroscopy, PL, and nitrogen absorption. Measurement of UV-Visible absorption showed that increased in dopant concentration in the range 1wt%–5wt% decreased the optical band gap of Ce-doped TiO2. Photocatalyst with doping 3wt% concentration of Ce showed the best photocatalytic activity. The effect of addition Ce successfully to prevent the growth of anatase phase TiO2, enhanced of surface area and enhanced the optical properties of TiO2. The result was effective to prevent the electron-hole recombination and increase the ability of photocatalytic activity in degrade of MB.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a set of integer mathematics problems that are integrated with meaningful contextual elements to enhance student engagement and learning interest. Using the Tessmer formative evaluation model, the development process included a preliminary study, self-evaluation, expert reviews, one-to-one testing, small group trials, and a field test with eighth-grade students at an Islamic-integrated junior high school in Indonesia. The resulting product consisted of 13 context-based integer word problems. Validation from content and pedagogical experts confirmed a high degree of validity (90%), while student responses indicated high practicality (96.7%). The effectiveness of the problem set was demonstrated by 94% of students achieving the minimum mastery level. Furthermore, a significant increase in student learning interest was observed, particularly in the emotional aspect, where the “joy” dimension rose by 69.62%. These results suggest that the integration of relevant, real-life contexts into mathematical problem design can significantly improve both student performance and motivation in mathematics classrooms
