This journal publishes articles on community service and empowerment results that are problem-solving, comprehensive, meaningful, and sustainable, with clear goals. Various community service and empowerment activities must have novelty (have innovation and creativity), so that they do not just replicate the same activities in different places, have measurable results and impacts on society, and support the achievement of the goals set forth in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDGs are a global action plan agreed by world leaders, to end poverty, reduce inequality and protect the environment. The SDGs contain 17 Goals and 169 Targets, so that each article must be linked to these goals and targets (as stated in the contribution statement).

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health issue in Indonesia, with a prevalence of 37% in 2013 and 30.8% in 2018, affecting approximately 8.4 million children under five. This condition is not limited to children from poor families but also affects those from well-off households. The causes of stunting are multidimensional, involving not only nutritional deficiencies in pregnant women and toddlers but also high-risk behaviors related to parenting and health practices. This community service program aimed to enhance the capacity of posyandu (integrated health post) cadres in stunting prevention through a behavior change approach. The methods applied included counseling, training, and mentoring for cadres in Mulyoagung Village, Dau Sub-district, Malang District. The outcomes demonstrated a significant improvement in the cadres’ understanding of stunting, its causes, and impacts. Participants also gained insights into the importance of behavior change education in preventing stunting. Feedback indicated increased mastery of practical prevention strategies, and cadres were able to apply and disseminate the training materials in their community in an integrated and sustainable manner. In conclusion, training and mentoring based on behavior change effectively empowered posyandu cadres in stunting prevention efforts.

Abstract

Elderly people with hypertension are at risk of experiencing severe cardiovascular complications. Self-management education efforts are important to increase patient independence to prevent the severity of hypertension. The purpose of this community service (PKM) is to optimize the health of the elderly and menopausal women through self-management health education as an effort to treat hypertension in Talang Jambe Village, Palembang. This PKM program began with the consolidation of the Health Office and Talang Jambe Health Center to identify participants. There were 41 elderly and menopausal participants who participated in this PKM. At the implementation stage, blood pressure, knowledge and behavior were checked. The intervention was given in four sessions with a duration of 60 minutes. The evaluation included blood pressure conditions and knowledge, and behavior of participants. A total of 39 participants completed this program. Two participants did not complete it because their health conditions did not allow it. Data analysis used frequency distribution and the Paired T test and Wilcoxon test.  The results of the PKM showed a significant increase in the mean knowledge score, from 56.67 ± 6.7 to 86.08 ± 7.63 (p = 0.000), and the mean value for behavior score, from 53.9 ± 6.03 to 85.31 ± 9.24 (p = 0.000). The majority of participants initially reported low levels of activity in terms of exercise frequency, but after the intervention, there was a marked increase, with more respondents exercising three to five times a week. Furthermore, diastolic blood pressure decreased from 108.28 ± 9.8 mmHg to 99.77 ± 10.39 mmHg (p = 0.000), and systolic blood pressure decreased from 197.72 ± 15.16 mmHg to 172.64 ± 10.46 mmHg (p = 0.000). The PKM program has been shown to be effective in improving knowledge, behavior, and blood pressure control in preventing hypertension complications.

Abstract

This training is designed to enhance the understanding of students regarding the Fiqh of Muamalah and to improve their English and Arabic language skills. The Fiqh of Muamalah curriculum covers fundamental principles of interaction and transactions according to Islamic law, aiming to equip students with the ability to understand, analyze, and apply fiqh principles in daily life contexts. The English and Arabic language enhancement program is intended to strengthen students' communication skills in foreign languages, which serve as essential assets for facing global challenges. The teaching methods include interactive lectures, group discussions, practical muamalah simulations, and intensive language practice through dialogues and presentations. This program is expected to produce students who are not only proficient in understanding the Fiqh of Muamalah but also competent in English and Arabic, preparing them to be an outstanding generation in religious knowledge and language skills in the globalization era.

Abstract

Integrating technology into physics education is critical in preparing students with 21st-century skills. However, many physics teachers in Indonesia face challenges, including limited access to technological tools, insufficient training, and low confidence in using technology. This study aimed to explore the perspectives of physics teachers on a workshop designed to empower them in developing technology-based teaching materials. The workshop, held in Bandung Barat, provided hands-on training on integrating various technologies, such as Augmented Reality, Physics Mobile, Live Worksheets, and Articulate Storylines, into physics teaching. Data were collected from 51 participating teachers using a descriptive survey method through structured questionnaires. Results indicated high satisfaction across four evaluated aspects: material comprehension (mean score: 4.29), relevance and benefits (4.15), implementation and facilitation (4.17), and outcomes and impacts (4.20). Teachers perceived an increase in their confidence and readiness tp create innovative teaching materials, though some required additional time and support for mastery. This study highlights workshops' significance in bridging the gap between technology and education. It emphasizes the need for sustained training programs and collaboration among educators, policymakers, and technology developers to enhance the quality of STEM-based physics education in Indonesia.

Abstract

The SINTA (Science and Technology Index) National Indexation System is a platform developed by the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology to support the management of research data, publications, and community service by lecturers and researchers. However, the lack of understanding regarding how to fill in SINTA data is often an obstacle in improving research and publication track records. This community service activity aims to provide socialization and training to lecturers regarding SINTA data filling following applicable guidelines. The methods used include presentation sessions, simulations, and direct assistance as well as giving pre-test and post-tests to participants. The results of the activity showed that participants experienced an increase in understanding and skills in filling SINTA data by 86%, which had implications for increasing the visibility and academic track record of lecturers. This activity is expected to contribute to improving the quality of research and scientific publications in Indonesia

Abstract

In today’s global era, the internationalization of educational institutions is crucial. SD Muhammadiyah 4 Kota Malang acknowledged this necessity and is committed to providing high-quality education by adapting international standards. To fulfill this commitment as well as to support Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 4, the school aims to create an international learning environment where teachers and students use English for instructions. Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) is a suitable approach for internationalizing education at this school, as it integrates subject learning with language development. This community service aimed to train and mentor teachers in using English effectively for international class preparation. The program focused on three key objectives: (1) enhancing teachers’ comprehension about CLIL, translanguaging, and trans-semiotizing concepts, (2) developing Classroom Passwords for all grade levels, and (3) implementing translanguaging and trans-semiotizing strategies. By understanding and applying CLIL, translanguaging, and trans-semiotizing, teachers can overcome anxiety about English use in the classroom. The teachers created verified Classroom Passwords which were registered for their intellectual property right and practiced translanguaging and trans-semiotizing in peer-teaching and real classroom settings as well as in virtual environment using Virtual Reality (VR).
