Abstract

The defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard had become a hot topic of conversation in society. The incident highlighted the fact that Amber Heard, who is a woman, had committed an act of violence against Johnny Depp, who is a man. Male victims are often underestimated by society because of gender stereotypes that men are stronger than women. Moreover, the media still perpetuates this stigma with publishing articles that tend to diminish male victims. This study aims to analyze how the media influences people's perspectives regarding the trial and whether there is gender bias among netizens, especially on social media like Twitter, in providing their opinions. This research uses the mixed method, which is a combination of qualitative and quantitative. Quantitative analysis techniques in this study used Social Network Analysis (SNA) and Digital Opinion Movement (DMO) using Netlytic, while qualitative analysis techniques used literature reviews, in which data were sourced from news articles and journals. The results show that the perspectives of some Twitter users are affected by the media, which tends to be biased. However, most of the others, especially Johnny Depp's supporters, were not affected by this news because of their loyalty and fanaticism towards him. Abstract

Indonesia ranks fifth as the country with the highest HIV/AIDS-related death rates in the world, with 27,000 deaths in 2023. The cumulative number of people living with HIV/AIDS from 2005 to 2023 is 566,707. In 2023 alone, the number of people with HIV/AIDS reached 57,299, the highest figure since 2009. This situation is certainly concerning. Therefore, preventive efforts, treatment, and care are needed to ensure that people living with HIV (PLHIV) remain healthy. More broadly, it is hoped that the death rate due to HIV/AIDS does not rise and that the transmission does not spread further. Various preventive, treatment, and care efforts are being carried out by different parties, including NGOs and healthcare facilities (Faskes). In Indonesia, NGOs focusing on these efforts include Jaringan Indonesia Positif (JIP), and healthcare facilities that are quite focused on PLHIV include the Unit Ruang Carlo at St. Carolus Hospital in Jakarta. However, the care or counseling provided varies. In the Ruang Carlo, there is the involvement of doctors, nurses, and counselors, such as the Suster-suster Cinta Kasih St. Carolus Borromeus, while at JIP, there is only the involvement of counselors who are experts in their field, having undergone specialized counseling training and education. The treatment provided at the Ruang Carlo is referred to as holistic care or counseling, while JIP implements palliative care or counseling. The similarity between the two types of care or counseling is the role of the counselor, who performs therapeutic communication with people living with HIV (PLHIV). Therefore, this research focuses on the counselor's experience in conducting therapeutic communication, which includes the motivations behind the counseling activities, the communication experiences themselves, and the types of messages exchanged, both verbal and non-verbal.

Abstract

This research utilizes the theories of public communication with the aim of understanding and analyzing how the public service communication of the East Sumba city government is carried out through the implementation of the e-Government service website, sumbatimurkab.go.id. This study is qualitative descriptive research employing a case study method. Overall, this study concludes that the Diskominfo government of East Sumba district has undertaken several efforts to realize public services for the community, including activities such as media gatherings, social media utilization, podcasts, booklets, creating an overview, and providing technical guidance to administrators and various departments of the East Sumba district. The e-Government service through the website sumbatimurkab.go.id is also acknowledged by Diskominfo, however, it is noted that the current state of the website sumbatimurkab.go.id is not yet sufficient, and digitalization services across various departments are lacking, posing a challenge to the lack of widespread digital based public services for the community. The government should prioritize the development of fundamental ICT infrastructure, such as stable internet networks, to assist marginalized communities in accessing online services. Consequently, various forms of innovation in public service communication implementation should be consistently pursued, accompanied by the readiness of supporting human resources.

Abstract

Bahasa merupakan alat untuk berkomunikasi dan berinteraksi dengan tujuan untuk menyampaikan ide, gagasan, konsep, serta merupakan alat untuk mengungkapkan perasaan dan mengekspresikan diri. Pesatnya perkembangan teknologi di era ini telah membawa perubahan besar dalam berbagai aspek aktivitas manusia. Perkembangan bahasa yang terjadi pada masa ini adalah munculnya bahasa gaul. Terdapat ciri-ciri umum dari ragam bahasa gaul diantaranya ialah istilah-istilah baru, singkatan, frase-phrase unik, pengaruh media dan ekspresi emosional. Tujuan dari penulisan ini adalah untuk menganalisa dan meneliti ragam bahasa gaul yang digunakan oleh para remaja di media sosial tiktok dan pengaruhnya terhadap penggunaan Bahasa Indonesia yang baik dan benar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dan sumber penelitian dilengkapi menggunakan kajian pustaka. Hasil penelitian adalah bahasa gaul telah berkembang melalui perkembangan internet dan jejaring media sosial, pengaruh lingkungan dan dampak dari modernisasi. Bahasa gaul membawa perubahan dan inovasi bahasa bagi masyarakat luas, namun juga menyimpang dari penggunaan bahasa Indonesia yang baik dan benar.

Abstract

The study delves into the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the field of public relations (PR) among professionals in Indonesia. This exploration is based on in-depth interviews with 8 individuals and a survey completed by 100 PR practitioners with a minimum of two years of experience. The study results indicate widespread utilization of tools such as ChatGPT, Bard, Grammarly, and Canva for tasks such as research, planning, and content personalization. These AI tools have been instrumental in improving operational efficiency by aiding in information management. Nevertheless, there are apprehensions regarding the potential dissemination of misleading or controversial content due to imperfections in AI-generated material, which could adversely impact an organization's credibility. Consequently, it is imperative to exercise human oversight to validate the accuracy and appropriateness of content produced by AI tools. Furthermore, concerns have been raised about a potential decline in the demand for PR practitioners as these advanced AI tools are adept at generating content that closely resembles human-created material. This presents a challenge for professionals to uphold their relevance within the industry. However, despite these concerns, the prevailing sentiment is that the evolving technological landscape offers opportunities for professional development. By actively engaging in workshops and staying abreast of technological advancements, PR practitioners may effectively harness these tools to enrich their work and stay competitive in their field. Embracing AI presents prospects for skill enhancement and innovative approaches within the PR domain, ensuring practitioners can continue providing value in an ever-changing environment.

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas tentang peran komunikasi interpersonal antara orang tua dan anak dalam menumbuhkan rasa percaya diri remaja. Komunikasi yang baik dan efektif merupakan kunci keberhasilan suatu hubungan, termasuk hubungan antara orang tua dan anak. Komunikasi interpersonal dalam hubungan orang tua dan anak berperan penting dalam menumbuhkan kedekatan emosional dan dukungan yang diperlukan bagi perkembangan karakter anak di masa mendatang. Pada masa remaja yang penuh tantangan, anak sangat membutuhkan motivasi dan kasih sayang dari orang-orang terdekat di sekitarnya, terutama orang tua. Komunikasi verbal dan non verbal yang baik dari orang tua memiliki dampak yang substantif terhadap rasa percaya diri anak. Penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa orang tua yang mempraktikkan komunikasi yang efektif, seperti memberikan pujian dan dukungan dapat membantu anak merasa diterima dan meningkatkan harga dirinya. Dalam penelitian ini, metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi dan kajian pustaka terhadap penelitian terdahulu. Penelitian ini mendorong orang tua untuk lebih menyadari pentingnya menumbuhkan komunikasi untuk mendukung tumbuh kembang anak, terutama pada masa remaja yang krusial.

Abstract

Penggambaran adaptasi multikultural ibu dari suku dan etnis Jawa yang melakukan bentuk-bentuk face negotiation saat bersosialisasi dengan budaya lain digambarkan melalui karakter Bu Tejo di film Bu Tejo Sowan Jakarta. Bu Tejo direpresentasikan sebagai orang tua Jawa yang low context, yakni cenderung tanpa basa-basi, dan kerap berkonflik terbuka. Hal ini berbeda dengan anggapan masyarakat bahwa orang Jawa memiliki pola komunikasi high context, sehingga penting dan menarik untuk melihat pemaknaan face negotiation pada karakter Bu Tejo di kalangan ibu sebagai orang tua Jawa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan paradigma konstruktivisme. Sedangkan, metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis resepsi dengan teori resepsi Stuart Hall sebagai pisau analisis utama. Hasil penelitian ini berakar dari wawancara 4 informan ibu Jawa yang berusia minimal 36 tahun dan memiliki anak dengan usia lebih atau sama dengan 19 tahun. Diperoleh 2 informan di posisi negosiasi dan 2 lainnya di posisi oposisi. Artinya, keseluruhan informan tidak mengakui sepenuhnya orang Jawa berkomunikasi dengan low context. Faktor yang memengaruhi pemaknaan diduga adalah latar belakang budaya Jawa yang dimiliki informan, tingkat pendidikan, serta status ekonomi informan.
