Abstract

The role of steel in the industrial world today is very important, especially in terms of making components related to violence such as gears, fly wheel, axe, and so forth.This steel has a high hardness for components that require hardness, to uletan and resistance to friction. get hardness and resistance to steel hence need heat treatment process using Quenching process. The material of this research is S45C carbon steel with specimen number 1 for hardness test before treatment and after treatment with rockwell test, this process is done in Central Laboratory of FMIPA UM, unfortunate. In this process heat treatment is carried out at temperatures of 800⁰C and 900⁰C with water and oil cooling medium, from the results of comparative analysis on S45C steel before and after the treatment obtained increased hardness. This can be seen from the test analysis in which 93 kgf of hardness n is for the untreated specimens. At a temperature of 800⁰C with a water cooling medium at a crude value of 94.6 kgf, and on oil cooling medium at a hardness value of 92.5 kgf. At a temperature of 900⁰C with a water cooling medium at a hardness value of 93.5 kgf and on the oil cooling medium at a value of 93 kgf. Can be concluded from all the cooling media is the highest media water with value of violence 94.6 kgf.Keywords: S45C Steel, Quenching, Cooling

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of ironwood charcoal powder size on the effectiveness of biogas purification and generator-set performance. This research was carried out by flowing biogas from sanitary landfill to biogas purification insulator containing adsorption media with charcoal varying charcoal size variations, namely size 20, 30 and 40 mesh, then biogas stored in a storage tube then flowed to the chamber for CO2 level reading and CH4 uses a gas analyzer. From this study the following results were obtained: Biogas without charcoal (CO2 26514.66 ppm and CH4 101.07 ppm), Biogas with a size of 20 mesh (CO2 20270.08 ppm, CH4 458.35 ppm and effectiveness of 23.55%), with a size of 30 mesh (CO2 14273.31 ppm, CH4 658.75 ppm and effectiveness of 46.16%), with a size of 40 mesh (CO2 12092.66 ppm, CH4 3161.04 ppm and effectiveness of 54.39%). For the results of testing the performance of generator sets using biogas fuel which has been purified with ironwood charcoal with a size of 40 mesh, ie for no load, rotation is obtained at 3465.0 rpm, temperature 102 0C, and voltage 240 V (stable), with load 350 W obtained rotation 3203.8 rpm, temperature 236 0C, and voltage 150-240 V (unstable), with a load of 700 W obtained rotation 3360.9 rpm, temperature 220 0C, and voltage 100-200 V (unstable). Abstract

Boiler is a tool that serves to convert water into pressurized steam. In the heat causes heat boiler heat transfer through the water into pressurized steam that is heated from the fuel in the furnace.And often a problem of burning in the boiler is less than the maximum. Because the incoming energy is energy derived from the fuel, there is some energy lost during the combustion process it happens because the fuel has a low heat so that the combustion is not maximal cause the boiler performance is reduced. To avoid this, it is necessary to  maintenance for the boiler component in order to improve performance. Direct method is "input - output method" because this method uses only the heat in the fuel and steam coming from the boiler output. Boiler efficiency of research results from the date of March 27, 2017 until the date of 10 April 2017 with a total average - average efficiency were analyzed, namely 74.4%. On April 3, 2017 the calculated efficiency of 76.57% indicates that the boiler performance is still feasible to operate but on April 4, 2017 the boiler efficiency becomes 71.59%. Boiler efficiency at commissioning, with boiler efficiency of 85.13% and in 2017 done the boiler efficiency calculation theoretically on 27 March until 10 April 2017 with total average 74.4% where the efficiency decrease equal to 10.73%. Abstract

Vehicle is the most needed tool as a transportation medium. This is due to the human need for vehicles is very important for the community. This study aims to determine the effect of valve clearance on performance and exhaust emissions on yamaha jupiter Z1 engine. In this study the researchers used variations of valve clearance intake and exhaust 0.06 mm up to 0.15 mm with dynotest experimental methods for performance testing and using experimental methods with gas analyzer parameters for exhaust gas emissions testing. From the results of performance tests that have been done got the best power and torque that supports engine performance. The 0.15 mm intake valve clearance variation obtained the best power yield with 93.11% achievement and the power value of 9,180 Hp at 8852 rpm, while for the best torque found on the 0.12 mm intake valve clearance variation obtained with achievement of 92.98% and the torque value is 9,205 Nm at 6136 rpm engine speed. From the exhaust gas emission test results, the valve gap size is sufficient to affect the results of exhaust emissions in a vehicle. Variations of valve clearance that obtained the results are ideal and safe for the environment that is 0.12 mm estrangement on the variation of exhaust and estrangement 0.15 mm on the variation of intake that has low emission levels. In the 0.12 mm exhaust variation, emission levels are CO 2.54%, CO2 8.81%, HC 74 ppm, O2 7.10% whereas in the intake variation 0.15 mm, emission levels are CO 4.92%, CO2 5,92%, HC 19 ppm, O2 8,88%. Keywords: Valve Clearance, Performance, Gas Emissions

Abstract

Wind turbine is one of the tools yamg work to take advantage of wind allergy. Wind turbines based on the type of rotor there are two types of Darrieus wind turbines and Savonius wind turbines. In the manufacturing process using a type of wind turbine type Darrieus. The darrieus turbine is a wind turbine that utilizes the lift style on the rotor blade. This turbine requires initial energy to spin. The formulation of the problem in making this wind turbine is How does the manufacturing process of vertical turbine type darrieus wind turbine and How much is the cost budget on the manufacturing process of the darrieus type verical wind turbine. Abstract

Power plan has an important role in the electricity supply bussiness, one of them is PLTU Asam Asam which is Unit Pelaksana Pembangkitan Asam Asam. By using fuel coal fired type, this work continously to generate maximum power in generating electricity. In terms working to have maximum power continuously in boiler, Boiler have equipment Primary Air Heater (PAH) to repairing the efficiency. To get best performance Primary Air Fan (PAH) is doing routine maintenance.The Effect is routine maintenance for repairing, abrasive and corrosive material Primary Air Fan (PAH) to be air leakage. This final project aims to know performance before and after repairing compare commissioning perform. In this final project compiling, the using methods are literature study, observation, data processing, data analyzing, and conclusion. Literature study is searching of source for reference, then the observation is done by collecting data based on the parameters required. These data are analyzed to derive conclusions from the object being observed.The result of final project research shows that different escalation occurred after repairing. This can proven by calculation and analysis of data which obtained before repairing the efficiency 68,5% and work 68,6%, and Air leakage reduce 83,18%% and work 70,55%. Keywords: Efficiency, Performance, Boiler, Heat Loss Method

Abstract

Industry is an economic activity that processes raw materials, raw materials, semi-finished goods or finished goods into high-quality goods in use, including engineering and engineering activities. Thus, industry is part of the production process. Industrial materials are taken directly or indirectly, then processed, resulting in more valuable goods for the community. In an industry not only concerns how much investment should be invested, production procedures and marketing of products but also requires the planning of facilities that include the location planning facility and facility design. Facility design includes facility system design, factory layout and material handling system (material transfer). (Wikipedia Bahasa Indonesia). In its current development PT. Kalimantan Concrete Engineering extends production land by purchasing a plot of land adjacent to the current production site, but it has not been enabled yet, in addition to the placement of U-dith and Box Culvert production which have not been placed in accordance with its area in the current name still in place at road front office and other areas that are still far apart. In accordance with the above explanation, we can know that the importance of an effective and efficient facility layout planning where it is in need in material handling arrangements, time efficiency, and the flow of work mobility. So this research is expected to be able to provide trobosan in the relationship layout facilities and improve the effectiveness of work better. Keywords: PT. Abstract

This study aims to determine the levels of bioethanol from (black sticky rice, white sticky rice and cassava rice) with variations in yeast mass as much as 5 grams, 10 grams and 15 grams knowing the optimum time variation and knowing ethanol levels according to SNI. This research was carried out by hydrolysis or boiling of ingredients (black sticky rice, white sticky rice and cassava rice) using distilled water for 30 minutes, then fermentation using yeast saccharomyces cereviseae and distillation process using a complete destilator to obtain ethanol from fermented then tested with a pen refractometer to determine whether or not ethanol is formed from the distillation process. The selected sample was then tested for ethanol content using a gas chromatography tool. The results of this study are known by testing gas chromatography to find out the ethanol content contained in the distilled sample, the results of ethanol, black glutinous rice with 96 hours fermentation time 92.29% ethanol, and white glutinous rice with fermentation time 96 hours of 100% ethanol and cassava with 96 hours of fermentation time of ethanol content of 98.10%. Keywords: Black Sticky Rice, White Sticky Rice, Cassava, Fermentation, Ethanol

Abstract

Aluminum used many generated from household, workshop, office, factory and so on. All this time, the Al scrap is only collected by the owner and sold to the foundry foundry industry. It can be recycled into various products for various alternative products and has the potential to become a source of business. The evaporative casting method is to use Styrofoam as a pattern dumped in the printed sand. This method will produce castings that match the pattern of Styrofoam made. Melting is done by liquefying Al in a crucible furnace and then poured with a variation of casting temperatur of 650°C, 700°C, 750°C, 800°C. The objective of this research is to know the temperatur of pouring temperatur and material type to micro structure, porosity, and hardness of evaporative casting. The smelting furnace uses a crucible furnace with charcoal wood fuel. Materials used for casting Al scrap piston motorcycles and beverage cans. From the observation of the microstructure shows that the higher temperatur of the dendrite chamber size will change from short thin flakes to flakes. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the use of Gypsum-based Catalytic Converter and a mixture of Copper Powder Against Exhaust Gas Emissions and Engine Performance. This study uses an experimental method, the population in this study was Suzuki Satria FU motorcycle in 2009, the data of this study were numbers that showed the exhaust gas content of CO, HC. This research was carried out in the Banjarmasin environment office using a gas analyzer and was also carried out in the Banjarmasin plug and play workshop by using a dynamometer. The technique used in data collection was the variation in rpm and number of compositions. From experiments with three different compositions, the following results were obtained: (1) The results of this study are: the form of Catalytic Converter with composition C, the level of HC emission reduction is maximum of 78,91%, the level of CO emission reduction is 82,96%. The form of Catalytic Converter with plate variation 6 (six), the maximum level of CO2 emission reduction is 29,56%, the level of CO emission reduction is 49,32%, and the level of HC emission reduction is 82,92%. (2) Using a Catalytic Converter produces a power of 10,29 Hp and a Torque of 10,35 Nm. Keywords: Catalytic Converter, Emission, Gypsum, Muffler, Concentration
