Abstract

Changes in salt levels in the aquatic environment play an important role in the life of coastal ecosystems. These changes can be known by looking at the development of living things around the main waters on the coast, where the place is widely used for fishermen to look for fish. This study aims to determine the distribution of salinity in the coastal environment so that the existing patterns of dissolved salt in these waters can be known. The method used this time is to utilize the algorithm of the visible light channel owned by the Aqua MODIS satellite image, namely wavelengths of 412 nm, 531 nm and 667 nm. The results obtained from the algorithm are that the blue canal from the satellite image provides a more optimal result compared to the ratio of the other 2 channels, where from the calculation results a significant correlation is obtained around 0.539 or about 53.9% of the satellite image data with the ratio of the blue and red canals has a correlation with the salinity distribution value on the coast of Pasuruan. The algorithm of the mathematical model that emerged was the logarithmic model Sal= 15.664*ln(Rrs_412)+115.82. In the future, the wavelength ratio can be used to study the effect of salinity concentration temporally by using different sensors in order to obtain maximum results.

Abstract

Food safety is one of the requirements to ensure that a food product is produced according to standards and safe for consumption by consumers. The food industry, especially for the fresh food processing industry such as poultry products, has a higher risk of food safety. Biological, chemical, and physical hazards can appear during the production process that is supported by industrial environmental factors. This study aims to review and identify several forms of efforts to implement Good Hygiene Practices based on the production process chain by the food industry that produces sausages. The study focuses on practices that have been done by a related industry as well as things that can be of concern in the implementation of GHP. The Good Hygiene Practice (GHP) is related to hygiene and sanitation practices which are divided into nine aspects in the CAC document. Food Business Operators (FBOs) must pay attention to the implementation of GHP to ensure maximum safety of a product. Hygiene and sanitation practices relate to the environment where food products are received, stored, handled, produced or prepared until distributed. The implementation of GHP can include preventive measures to control food hazards such as designing the layout of production processes that is adapted to GHP practices, providing worker skills training, systematic cleaning, disinfection also waste management according to characteristics, personnel hygiene checks, control of production and storage temperatures, and appropriate product labeling.

Abstract

A furniture company has production scheduling problems by streamlining production output with one machine. This research aims to increase the work effectiveness of furniture companies by using a single machine and comparing several of the most efficient methods. The methods used are the FCFS, SPT, LPT, and EDD methods. From the research results of these four methods, it was found that the best method to use was the SPT method. However, there are still obstacles in the form of using a single machine which still really slows down the manufacturing process of a product. Products will still experience delays if the number of orders coming in increases. Therefore, a furniture company needs to add machines to reduce or minimize production delays that occur in the company. It would be better for future research to use other methods so that we can compare the results of another method.

Abstract

Jambal Roti, a well-known salted fish delicacy in Indonesia, has become a subject of concern due to reports of formaldehyde contamination. This research was conducted to investigate the presence of formaldehyde in Jambal Roti sold in traditional markets in North Surabaya and to analyze the physical characteristics of the contaminated fish. Using a descriptive research design with a survey approach, a total of 23 samples were collected and tested. The results showed that six samples, or 26%, contained formal--dehyde, with concentrations ranging from 0.125 ppm to 1.071 ppm. The highest formaldehyde level was found in sample JR18. The physical examination of contaminated samples revealed distinct characteristics that set them apart from uncontaminated ones. These samples had a firmer and more resilient texture, making them less susceptible to damage. In terms of appearance, they exhibited a paler yet more vibrant color compared to normal Jambal Roti. Moreover, the typical salty aroma that is characteristic of this fish was noticeably absent in the contaminated samples. These findings suggest that formaldehyde not only poses a health risk but also alters the physical and sensory qualities of Jambal Roti, affecting its overall quality as a food product. The presence of formaldehyde in food products is a serious concern, as it compromises both consumer safety and the reputation of the product. This study underscores the importance of stricter monitoring and regulation of food safety in traditional markets to prevent the distribution of contaminated food items like Jambal Roti, ensuring that consumers are not exposed to harmful chemicals.

Abstract

The swimming pool is located on the top floor of the building with a large swimming pool making structural design pay attention to all aspects, especially safety aspects when used. The structural method used in this study is a combination of structures between concrete columns and Bailey model steel frame beams. The use of steel frame beams is because the swimming pool has an area of 27 m x 20,5 m and under the swimming pool there should be no columns to create a spacious room. In the combination of these structures, the relationship between concrete columns and steel frame beams (JCB) is connected using anchors as a component that transfers loads. The anchor used is an L-shaped anchor model. The anchor is connected at four end points of the steel frame beam which helps transfer the load to the concrete column. From the results of the analysis with ETABS software, the largest value of the axial force (Fz) is 5525113,22 N and the shear force (Fx) is 6438725 N. According to SNI 2847: 2019, the anchor needed to reduce the axial force and shear force is used 52 36 mm diameter anchors with a shear capacity value of 6496089,6 N and an axial capacity value of 12492480 N.

Abstract

The liver, which is the largest organ in the intestinal tract can do several very complex jobs. The use of herbal teas that utilize plants with high antioxidant content is one strategy that is starting to attract interest. In tea form, a blend of mangosteen pericarp, cloves, and cinnamon can protect the liver from oxidative damage and inflammation. The purpose of this article is to explore, analyze, and summarize various theories about the potential of a mixture of mangosteen, cinnamon, and clove tea, hepatoprotective mechanisms, and liver health biomarkers in terms of antioxidant content. The writing method used is a literature review from international and national journals by tracing and summarizing several theories related to the topic and title of the article to be written, which ultimately develops new conclusions as broader and stronger theories. The results show that mangosteen peel, cloves and cinnamon have functional benefits, namely they can create a healthy liver because of their antioxidant content. Mangosteen peel contains quite high polyphenol antioxidants, including xanthones, phenolic acids, flavonoids, catechins, hexadecanoic acid, and oleic acid. Cloves contain the antioxidants eugenol, saponins, tannins, flavonoids, and polyphenols. Cinnamon contains phenolic antioxidants such as eugenol, cinamic aldehyde and beta caryo-phyllene Damage to cell membranes and proteins is a sign of oxidative stress caused by free radicals. Therefore, antioxidants are needed to convert free radicals into non-reactive compounds. Biomarkers of a healthy or damaged liver are through blood tests including levels of SGPT, SGOT, SGPT-SGOT, Gamma GT, albumin and globulin levels, bile acid levels, and bilirubin levels. In conclusion, tea mixed with mangosteen peel, cloves, and cinnamon contains high levels of antioxidants so it has the potential to protect against liver damage due to various oxidative stress factors.

Abstract

This study aims to measure pollution levels and track the state of the air in Eastern Indonesia's major mining districts. Eastern Indonesia's mining in-dustry has significantly boosted the local economy in the area. But this also brings up environmental issues, particularly with relation to pollution and air quality. The level of sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and other pollutants is measured using the EPM-Manual 42iQ Continuous Air Quality monitoring tool in this air quality inspection method. Our research reveals higher than expected pollution levels around mining activities, sur-passing both national and international air quality regulations. The study also shows that pollution concentrations vary seasonally, with higher levels during the dry season. Furthermore, health risk assessments show possible negative effects on locals.
