Abstract

In the industrial world, employee performance is a crucial element in determining the success of a business. Extensive research has been conducted to identify factors that influence employee performance, in particular, the general tendency to leave a job. This research aims to explore how perceptions of organizational support, career development, and organizational culture influence employee performance, with organizational commitment as the mediator. This research uses a quantitative descriptive approach by utilizing perceptions of organizational support, career development, and organizational culture as independent variables and employee performance as a dependent variable which is mediated by organizational commitment. The research population was employees of OneCare Wellness Malaysia Company who used the saturation or census method with data collected from 44 employees. An online questionnaire distributed via Google Form facilitated data collection, while multiple linear regression analysis was used to analyze the findings. The results of data processing using SPSS software show that perceptions of organizational support and career development do not have a direct and significant influence on employee performance. It is important to note that not all employees feel the support provided by the company, and some employees may not have the same opportunities for career development. On the other hand, organizational culture has a direct and significant influence on employee performance, organizational commitment successfully mediates the independent variable in the dependent research.

Abstract

Efforts to utilize traditional languages as cultural objects continue to be accelerated after the emergence of Law Number 5 of 2017 concerning the Advancement of Culture (UUPK). As a priority cultural object, the scarcity of traditional languages due to acculturation and lack of interest in making it a daily language is needed to make tactical efforts to implement UUPK in every critical sector, including tourism. Through tourism village products, efforts to utilize traditional languages become integral to enriching the village's attractiveness. Thus, through proper utilization steps, tourism villagers can achieve the goal of cultural advancement through tourism activities. Unfortunately, this critical effort has not been clearly described. Scholars have observed no model of traditional language utilization in independent tourism village groups. This research raises the urgency to identify models of traditional Javanese language utilization and present new solutions to the problem of traditional language scarcity through tourism villages. As a result, independent tourism villages that make the Javanese language an attraction have a spectrum in the use of traditional languages in terms of principles, objectives, and technical efforts to utilize traditional language cultural objects.

Abstract

Being able to communicate in a foreign language is one of the most important competencies in today's global era. However, there are still many students who have difficulty speaking even though they have studied for 3 years in high school or have even entered university level, their speaking ability is still not as expected. This research is in the form of a literature review, by examining any obstacles in speaking skills and how to overcome them. There are 4 barriers related to speaking skills, namely; school curriculum, speaking opportunities, classroom atmosphere, and talent myths. Cooperation and willingness of all parties are needed to improve students' speaking skills. Both policy makers, teachers, and students must work together to create a conducive learning environment. Like the school curriculum, there are still many who prioritize writing and listening skills, because the tests they face are mostly in the form of writing and listening tests. Understanding is needed for policy holders or teachers to explore a theme more than pursuing curriculum targets alone. The lack of opportunity to speak can be overcome by avoiding teaching by giving lectures. An unsupportive classroom atmosphere can lead to things that make learning motivation loss, lack of self-confidence, and the emergence of excessive anxiety. The assumption that good language is a talent is also something that is not entirely true. Effort and hard work remain an important point in obtaining success.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the role of guidance and counseling in Islamic Boarding Schools to improve the self-quality of students who contribute to sustainable development. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. The primary data source for this research is teachers at the Yapink Tambun Bekasi Islamic Boarding School. Meanwhile, for secondary data, researchers used books and journals related to guidance and counseling in Islamic boarding schools and the personal qualities of students. Data collection techniques use interview and observation methods. data analysis techniques use data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The findings show that many Islamic boarding schools implement various programs to realize the self-quality of students, such as students who can become part of an institution that focuses on the community's economy so that they can contribute to the economic development of people who have self-quality so that they can realize sustainable development programs. One of them is providing Santri training through the guidance and counseling program at Islamic Boarding Schools. The challenges in realizing the quality of Santri are the unavailability of guidance and counseling teachers in Islamic Boarding Schools, there is still no special program to realize the quality of Santri and policy makers do not yet understand the implementation of the guidance and counseling program for Santri. The solution is that Islamic Boarding School policy makers understand the urgency of guidance and counseling in Islamic Boarding Schools to help students' problems. This research implies that Islamic boarding school policy makers design Islamic Boarding School programs through guidance and counseling according to the student's abilities to realize the students' self-quality. Research findings can contribute to understanding and knowledge to islamic boarding schools in understanding the importance of guidance and counseling in Islamic Boarding Schools.

Abstract

Humanity has entered one of the most exciting yet most dangerous periods of human history. The seemingly utopian future promised by AI is fraught with megathreats confronting governments and education and business leadership. This paper puts forth the Human Imperative as a non-negotiable for addressing humanity’s diverse challenges in the Asian Century, the epoch of Anthropocene, and the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Following a discussion on a range of key global developments, the paper argues that it is time for a critical Human Reset in the face of global head-winds of disruptions, a global learning crisis, and a global mental health crisis. Human wisdom and virtues encapsulated in the arts, culture, education, languages, and literature should be harnessed to attain sustainable futures for our future generations. (127 words).

Abstract

I want to thank the organizers of this conference, and especially my friend Dr. Eva Leiliyanti, for this invitation to discuss a topic that is both interestingly complex and close to my heart. Thanks to all of you who have signed on as well; I am sorry that we do not have the opportunity to meet in person, but I am nonetheless grateful for this virtual encounter. Later on, I will spend some time interrogating and even challenging the three keywords here: “literature,” “preservation,” and “culture,” and I’ll propose a role for literature beyond mere “preservation.” But first, let us explore a few touchstone texts for some of the time-honored ways of affirming literature’s role in preserving culture. That way, if you get nothing else from this talk, you’ll at least get to hear a few poems.

Abstract

In this paper, I argue that we need a wide understanding of culture and identity to understand how education shapes cultural identity, both positively and negatively. I present definitions of culture and identity that permit the complex relationships between education, culture, and identity to be explored and productively related to one another. I discuss how the teaching of both official and minority languages can contribute to the shaping of cultural identities. I reflect on how teachers can build on their students’ first and additional languages to develop inclusive and powerful cultural identities. Using examples from work in Australia, Vietnam, and Germany, I will look at how inclusive approaches to education have created spaces for new cultural identities. Central to my argument will be seeing the role of the teacher as an active decision-maker who uses physical, intellectual, and emotional spaces flexibly to create new learning opportunities.
