Abstract

A study was conducted in 7 location represent to sulfuric-acid, peat or arable land in order to define productivity of several promoting lines of swamp-rice. Foerteen lines with two control varieties were tested in each location. The lines were grown in two different NPK-fertilization, i.e. low and high dosage of NPK. Yhe study was objected to define the genotype-environment or non-specific environment. The result show that the tested-lines adapted to the specific environment, but not to non-specific environment.

Abstract

The objective of the study is to investigate the effect of the mixture of sow dust, zeolit, and sand as media on turf qualities of Bermuda Grass (Cynodon dactylon var. Tiffdwarf). There are 6 treatments of planting media including : sand 100%, sand 75 % + saw dust 25 % + zeolit 0 %, sand 50 % + sow dust 50 % + zeolit 0 %, sand 50 % + sow dust 25 % + zeolit 25 %, and sand 50 % + sow dust 0 % + zeolit 50 %. The treatment have 3 replication ang arranged in Randomized Block Design. Analysis of media show the addition of sow dust 25 - 50 % into sand media increased physical qualities of media including the  increasing of the water content of media and decreased bulk density of the media. The addition of sow dust 25 % into sand media perform the best qualities of turf compared to the other media including of dry weight of shoots, density of shoot, height of shoot, length of root and the shoot - root ratio.

Abstract

Research of effect of soil  moisture content on growth and production of cardamom was done in Lembang. Manoko research garden, from on November 1994 to July 1995. The aim of this research was to identify of the effect of soil moisture content growth and production of two types cardamom, were Mysore type and Malabar type. A factorial randomized block design with two factors, three replication was used, and each replication on one treatment contain three plants, and each plant planted in one polybag. The first factor was soil moisture content consisted five treatments at 30% AW, 45% AW, 60% AW, 75% AW, and 90% AW. The second factor was cardamom type is Mysore and Malabar type. Andosol soil type mixed animal manure with 2 : 1 ratio was used for plant media. NPK fertilizer application with 120 gram/polybag/year was used as basic fertilizer was given in three time. The first application as fertilizer given two week after planting (WAP). The second was given on February 1995 and June 1995. Soils were irrigated to varied water content, and all polybag moved to roof house. The third was on values of the tiller at Malabar type 4 WAP was found on 60% AW,  shoot at 16 MST and 30 WAP. The highest values of "rimpang" was found on 15% AT, in Malabar type.   Key word : Cardamon, Soil, Moisture content

Abstract

An experiment was conducted at Muara Experimental Station, Research Institute of Food Crops Biotechnology, Bogor, from October 1996 to January 1997. Split block design was used in this experiment. Factors of experiment consisted of time of fertilizer application (3 week after planting (wap), 3 and 5 wap, and 3, 5, and 7 wap) and method of N fertilizer application (100% fertilizer through soil; 75% through soil, 25% through leaves; 50% through soil, 50% through leaves; 25% through soil, 75% through leaves; and 100% through leaves). Result of experiment showed that N application at 3 and 5 wap with 50% through soils and 50% through leaves increased dry weight to 11.4% if compared to 100% N through foliar application. Time of N application to 7 wap increased empty pod/plant to 31%. Method of N fertilizer application through leaves damaged the soybean leaves.   Key word: Fertilization, Nitrogen, Soybean

Abstract

Four kinds of antibiotics were examined, viz. streptomycin (SM) and gentamicin (GM) as bactericidal antibiotica and tetracycline (TC) and spectinomycin (SE) as bacteriostatical antibiotics. Kyoho an Pione (tetraploid hybris cultivars) were used as the plant materials. Among the four antibiotics, SM and SE were effective to induce seedlessness in Muscat of Alexandria (MOA) and less effective for Kyoho and Pione. The seedless induction effect of SM and SE seemed not to be affected by their mode of action. Using the four cultivars, Kyoho, Pione, MOA, and Neo Muscat (NM), either SM or SE most effective to induce seedlessness when applied 3 days before full bloom. The ineffectiveness of antibiotics for Kyoho and Pione was indicated by the higher percentage of empty-seeded berries in these cultivars compared to MOA and Nm. Since there was no normal seed in the antibiotic-treated berries, this phenomenon indicated that the outer parts of the tetraploid ovules were more resistant to antibiotic treatments than those of diploid ovules.   Key word: Grape, Seedless, Antibiotics
