Abstract

Hispanic scholars are increasingly gaining seats at the table of theological education in the United States, yet many remain marginalised under it, seeking food and opportunities for advancement in academic institutions. This study examines the distinctive elements of mentoring Hispanics in theological education, exploring how cultural features and biblical foundations inform effective mentoring relationships within these communities. This research was conducted in the context of North American theological educational institutions, with particular attention to the emergence of Hispanic theological scholars and organisations such as AETH (Asociación para la Educación Teológica Hispana) and La Comunidad of Hispanic American Scholars of Religion. This research synthesises insights from educational theory, theological studies, and cultural analysis to develop a framework for understanding mentoring in Hispanic theological education. The investigation revealed eight distinctive cultural traits among Hispanics that inform mentoring relationships: passion, personalism, soul paradoxes, community, spiritual journey, musical elan, fiesta, and family. The study identifies parallels between traditional mentoring and the Hispanic concept of padrino/a (baptist parenting), showing how cultural understanding improves the effectiveness of mentoring. This study establishes that effective mentoring develops through four stages: idealisation, disappointment, differentiation, and partnership.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how the outdoor learning model influences students’ naturalistic intelligence. Researchers took samples from the entire existing population, namely grade IV students of SD Negeri Inpres Sereh Sentani, totaling 52 people. The reason for selecting students as a whole from the existing population is because the total number of students taught is not too large or relatively small. The method used in this study is a quantitative research method with the following data collection techniques: First, Literature Study. Second, field observations. Third, distributing questionnaires. After the data is collected, the data is analyzed and correlated using the Likert scale technique, rating scale by looking for correlations through Pearson Product Moment correlation analysis to get the result that the effect of the Naturalistic Intelligence model with 3 indicators (a lot of aspirations about nature, interested in the topic of flora and fauna and sensitivity to symptoms nature) for fourth grade students of SD Negeri Inpres Sereh Sentani enter and have reached the level of naturalistic intelligence on the indicator that many aspirations about nature exist (87.62%), the indicator of interest in the topic of flora and fauna exists (92.49%) and the indicator of sensitivity to natural symptoms exist (91.67%). So, it can be concluded that the outdoor learning model is positively related to naturalistic intelligence, including a very high correlation.

Abstract

This paper discusses the urgency of renewing the character of Christian leaders in churches, schools, and public spaces. This research was conducted through a literature review to explore the challenges faced by leaders as they age. It researched the importance of improving the character of educators as leaders, and explored the understanding of Tom Yeakley, N.T. Wright, Marvin Oxenham, and Andar Ismail on character formation. Based on a review of the literature, it is stated that Christian leaders bring the impact of their past personal formation into their duties and roles in ministry. It was also stated that the renewal of the character of Christian leaders in Indonesia is very necessary and that it has a theological, theoretical, and practical basis. The thoughts in this paper are expected to be beneficial for the church and Christian education.

Abstract

Papua had received the Gospel since 1855, yet continued to experience persistent socio-economic and moral challenges, including poverty, limited access to quality education, and the erosion of cultural values. These realities indicated a theological and developmental disconnect between the region’s Christian identity and its lived social condition. This study aimed to explore how Early Childhood Christian Education (ECCE) could be developed as a transformative response to this gap, particularly for the Alpha Generation growing up in Papua’s multicultural context. Conducted through a descriptive qualitative approach within the socio-religious context of Papua, the study employed theological and pedagogical reflection to analyse how Christian values and Papuan indigenous wisdom can be integrated into early education. Data were collected through literature review, analysis of church-based documents, and contextual educational materials. The findings revealed a critical need for Gospel-centered, culturally grounded ECCE models that promote holistic spiritual, emotional, and moral formation from an early age. The study concluded that a contextual and integrative approach to ECCE could bridge the divide between ritual faith and transformative Christian living. This research contributed a conceptual framework for churches and theological institutions to equip young children with Christlike character, cultural rootedness, and active participation in the renewal of Papuan society.

Abstract

Ex-convicts in Indonesia faced significant social stigmatization that hindered their reintegration into society and negatively impacted their self-concept. This study examined the effectiveness of Christian discipleship programs in developing positive self-concept among ex-convicts. The research was conducted at GKIN "Pemberita Damai" Semarang, where a structured discipleship program operated weekly from January to November 2024. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed, utilizing unstructured interviews, in-depth interviews, and observation. Six participants were purposively selected, including one pastor, two church council members, and three ex-convicts who had participated in the discipleship program. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The study found that spiritual mentorship through discipleship effectively addressed the identity reconstruction needs of ex-convicts by providing both spiritual foundations and a supportive community. Participants demonstrated improved self-perception, increased social confidence, and enhanced coping mechanisms. The integration of spiritual approaches with psychological rehabilitation offered a comprehensive framework for ex-convicts' reintegration. This research contributed to the development of more effective rehabilitation models that incorporate spiritual dimensions alongside traditional psychological approaches.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has transformed how faith is practiced and how Christian Religious Education is delivered, necessitating a theological reinterpretation of religious formation in digital contexts. This study aims to develop a theoretical framework that integrates theology, ethics, digital literacy, and spirituality to guide Christian education in the digital era. Employing a qualitative literature review method, the study analyzes scholarly works on digital theology, education, and ethics to examine how digital environments shape faith formation, moral reasoning, and community engagement. The findings reveal that digital media functions not merely as a communication tool but as a formative environment influencing spiritual identity and ethical behavior. The proposed digital Christian Religious Education model emphasizes four interrelated dimensions: theology as the foundation of faith, ethics as responsible digital citizenship, digital literacy as critical engagement, and spirituality as holistic formation across physical and virtual spaces. This study contributes to global discourse by offering an integrative and contextual approach that empowers Christian educators to foster authentic spiritual growth and responsible digital discipleship in an increasingly networked world.
