Abstract

Arabic has a wide contribution toward Indonesian vocabularies, literary and commentary. This writing is aimed to describe the contribution of Arabic toward Indonesian vocabularies in Q.S. Al-Baqarah. The research uses qualitative descriptive method to describe the language forms in surah Al-Baqarah and their influences in Indonesian vocabularies. This research is a library research through content analysis techniques. The primary source of data is verses in Al-Qur’an Surah Al-Baqarah Verse 1 to 286, and the secondary source is Great Indonesian Dictionary Fifth Edition (Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia Edisi V/KBBI V). The result of the study shows that there are 52 Indonesian vocabularies come from Arabic; mostly the word “kitab” which appears 19 times, and the least ones are the words mutakin, gaib, rabi, akhir, mukmin, kulub, muslih, maut, lillahi, alim, khalifah, khusyuk, syafaat, furqan, tobat, mati, rahmat, jahiliah, mukmin, magrib, masjid, nikah, duafa, syahid which appear once (1); translation from Arabic to Indonesian in Surah Al-Baqarah is mostly literal translation so it causes a problem in the word “qulub” the plural form of “kalbu” (heart), based on Indonesian grammar, the word is written “kalbu”. The letter “q” which is adapted from Arabic is written as “k” in Indonesian. People who understand Arabic will surely make it a problem because “kalbu” in Arabic (kaf, lam, ba’) means dog. Meanwhile, “qalbu” (qaf, lam, ba’) means heart. For this reason, the writing of the word “qolbu” or “qalbu” is still used by many people or media up to now.

Abstract

This paper is a literary study by analyzing various thoughts from various readings. The concern of this study is about fundamentalism in the study of Islamic history. The discussion material includes; contextualization, history and various thoughts in response to fundamentalism. Regarding contextualization, a discussion arises whether fundamentalism exists as a product, as an agent, or both? If it is related to social changes in Islamic society in particular. Is Islamic fundamentalism more of a religion matters? Some refer to the events of the Iranian revolution in 1979, to the 18th century Wahhabi movement, some others point to the Al-Mihnah policy by the Mu'tazilah during the reign of the caliph Al-Ma'mun in the 9th century. There are even those who say that the genealogy of fundamentalism has existed since the beginning of Islamic history, namely the emergence of the Khawarij which is seen as having the same qualifications as contemporary fundamentalism. Responses to fundamentalists have been written in various ways, such as the assumption about the hegemonic nature of Western civilization which is said to be an obstacle to the accommodation of the basics of mutual equality, as well as an attitude of mutual respect and recognition. Other responses were in the form of proposals for the deconstruction of fundamentalism, the idea of developing Islamic values of compassion and moderation as a way or policy of dealing with fundamentalism.

When discussing about gender, it matters not only as a grammatical phenomenon, but also as a deeper meaning of the relationship between men and women. As a representation produced by human being containing certain values about an abstracted object, language embodies personal value, social values, cultural values, and political values. The correlation between gender and language in Arabic language has a characteristic since it is also influenced by the religion affected the relationship between men and women. Therefore, the main problems are how women depicted in this language and how their image is compared with man. In order to gain the depiction, feminism is seen as an appropriate tool for analyzing it. This approach is chosen since feminism approach providing general analysis about condition contributed to woman and digging into cultural understanding towards what is meant by being woman. The findings conclude that woman depiction are seen as 1) a branch while man as a root; 2) imperfect person since their thinking are unequal to men.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the Islamic political thought in classical Islam in the perspective of the Sunni sect. This research is a qualitative research which is library research. Data collection method is library data that has been selected, searched, presented and analyzed. This study uses data analysis techniques in the form of content analysis. Content analysis is a scientific analysis of the message content of a data. One of the characteristics of the classical era Islamic political thought is that it does not question the position of religion and state, whether integrated or separate. The debates that occurred in the classical era on the establishment of a state, the election of a head of state, and the conditions that a head of state must-have. Besides, political thought that develops also tends to be a response to the prevailing socio-political conditions. The emergence of Sunni ideology is a form of anxiety over the viewpoints developed by groups that tend to discredit the position of the Prophet's companions who are considered by some on the opposite side to have committed treason or treason. For Sunnis, leadership after the death of the Prophet Muhammad was open and not limited to ahl Bayt. A background that is considered appropriate and competent can be proposed as a leader. Thus, the appointment or appointment of the caliph as the legal ruler depends on the specific qualities possessed by the prospective leader.
