Abstract

Nowadays, the Certificate of Functional Worthiness (SLF) is a document that shows that a building has met the standards of safety, health, comfort, and environmental worthiness in accordance with applicable regulations. The development of the industry requires the government to issue SLF as a legalization of buildings and hotels in Bali. In the context of tourism, especially for lodging buildings such as hotels, resorts, and villas, the publication of SLF is very important to ensure that the building is not only safe for visitors, but also supports the desires of the tourism sector. The purpose of this study is to analyse the SLF regulations for building tourism in Bali Province, as well as the challenges in its implementation; and to see the extent to which tourism actors have mentioned the rules on tourism accommodation that apply in Bali Province, especially related to the implementation of the Certificate of Functional Worthiness (SLF). The formulation of the problem in this study: (i) Regulation of the Certificate of Functional Worthiness (SLF) for tourism hotel buildings in Bali Province, (ii) How is the government's commitment to implementing the Certificate of Functional Worthiness (SLF) for tourism hotel buildings in Bali Province. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach research method with case studies on several tourism buildings in Bali. The results of this study relate to the regulation of the certificate of functional feasibility (SLF) for tourism accommodation buildings in Bali Province so that its implementation can guarantee the safety and comfort of tourists. The Bali Provincial Government has shown a high commitment in implementing the certificate of functional feasibility (SLF) to build tourism accommodation by issuing clear regulations. The implication for the implementation of the certificate of functional feasibility (SLF) is that every tourism industry player who has so far paid less attention to the SLF must be required to implement the SLF in the tourism hotel buildings they own.

Abstract

Kanto Lampo Petirtaan in Beng Village, Gianyar, is a sacred site that holds profound spiritual significance in Balinese Hindu tradition, serving as an important location for the melukat (spiritual purification) ritual and the collection of holy water (amertha), while simultaneously developing into a cultural tourism destination. This study aims to examine the role of the petirtaan in preserving local cultural traditions and its contribution to the development of sustainable cultural tourism. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving observation, interviews, and literature review. The main theoretical used cultural heritage preservation theory, sustainable cultural tourism theory, and community-based tourism theory. The findings reveal that Petirtaan Kanto Lampo not only sustains spiritual values but also serves as a model of integrating cultural preservation with community-based management. Key strategies include the zoning of sacred and profane areas and educating visitors, emphasizing that strengthening local capacity and safeguarding sacred values are crucial for sustainable cultural tourism. Furthermore, the study demonstrates a synergy between cultural preservation and sustainable tourism development, despite challenges related to management, commercialization, and environmental pressure. The findings reaffirm the critical role of strengthening community-based tourism frameworks as a sustainable approach to mediating the tension between cultural sacredness and the shifting expectations of tourists in the modern era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' understanding of the Front Office course using a SWOT approach in the D3H IIA class of the Hospitality Study Program at the Denpasar Tourism Academy. A descriptive qualitative method was employed through triangulation techniques, including observation, questionnaires, and interviews, to obtain comprehensive data on the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in the learning process. The findings show a high level of student enthusiasm, with a 99% attendance rate. Students with a hospitality educational background performed better in mastering the material and participating actively. Conversely, non-hospitality students demonstrated limited technical understanding and discipline. Opportunities are available for all students to pursue front office positions, provided they are equipped with adequate knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes. However, intense competition and increasing demands for soft skills pose real threats to students entering the job market. This study recommends enhancing integrated theory-practice learning and developing student character and social competencies to strengthen competitiveness in the hospitality industry.

Abstract

Tourism is a strategic sector in Indonesia's national development with significant contributions to the economy and cultural image of the nation. However, the quality of tourist destination services remains a major challenge, especially in facing the dynamics of digital tourist behavior that increasingly relies on online reviews as the main reference. This study aims to explore tourist perceptions of services and sustainability of tourist destinations in Indonesia through content analysis of digital reviews on Google Reviews. The approach used is descriptive qualitative with thematic analysis methods of domestic and foreign tourist reviews published between March and May 2025. The study focused on three leading destinations: Borobudur Temple, Nusa Penida, and Komodo National Park. The results of the study show that service aspects such as natural beauty and historical value are highly appreciated, while ticket prices, infrastructure, and waste management are often criticized. There are striking differences in perception between domestic and foreign tourists, especially regarding expectations of comfort, cultural values, and service standards. In addition, tourist reviews also express concern for sustainability issues, including environmental preservation and conservation ethics. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of utilizing online reviews as strategic data for decision-making in managing more inclusive, adaptive, and sustainable tourist destinations
