Abstract

Objective: The objectives are to discover the health impact of cigarette smoke, the factors make adolescents’ smoking behavior, and how guided inquiry and other rules for preventing smoking behavior. Method: This research uses a literature review research method or literature study, collecting several sources that can later be used as a reference. This research is obtained from the seventy-five journals reviewed. Results: Based on the literature review, so many destructive impacts of cigarette smoke on health. Mostly factor in smoking behavior is an advertisement of cigarettes. Preventive ways to stop adolescents smoking behavior are also available. Nevertheless, the most effective ways are school-based learning. Primarily health education with guided inquiry learning based. Novelty: Previous research by another researcher needs to explain the factors of adolescent smoking behavior sufficiently; the previous research also needs to mention the prevention of that behavior. This research shows the health impact of smoking and prevention in social life, and this research shows the role of guided inquiry for prevention.

Objective: The purpose of this school action research is to improve the ability of school principals to carry out academic supervision through managerial supervision with a collaborative approach. This research was conducted at Foster Vocational Schools in Bojonegoro Regency. The school is a school fostered by researchers who serve as supervisors. The subjects in this study were six principals of vocational school Taruna Mandiri Ngasem, vocational school Association of Teachers of the Republic of Indonesia 3 Bojonegoro, vocational school Al Kyai Sukosewu, vocational school Wali Songo Sugihawaras, vocational school Muhammadiyah 6 Kedungadem, and vocational school Miftahul Huda Baureno. This research was carried out for two months. Method: A collaborative approach with monitoring and evaluation, and workshops is an activation process that will be aimed at finding out whether the development of the implementation of this program, whether it is by plans, procedures, or standards that have been set and assess the level of achievement and effectiveness of the program that has been implemented. Results: the managerial supervision of the collaborative approach can improve principals' performance abilities in carrying out academic supervision. The results achieved in cycle 1 averaged 75.38, and cycle 2 achieved an average score of 92.42 according to the researcher's target, namely the average score of 80 and above. With the increased performance of school principals in academic supervision, all supervised teachers experience direct positive benefits from academic supervision. Novelty: Teachers feel that implementing learning in schools becomes more qualified, effective, and efficient.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze the initial ability of student's creative thinking skills on electromagnetic materials and find a solution method of learning model suitable to the students' conditions. Method: The design of this study was pre-experimental. The data collection technique used a test method using creative thinking skills test instrument. The test instruments used in this study were tested for validity and reliability before use. Results: The results of this study showed different results. The percentage of the fluency indicator is 96.71% in the very good category, the percentage of the flexibility indicator is 51.97% in the medium category, the percentage of the elaboration indicator is 36.18%, and the originality is 16.45% in the less category. The average of all indicators is 50.32%, with the medium category. Novelty: Students' creative thinking skills can be developed through various methods, including the PjBL model, the Inquiry Social Learning model, PBL combined with Flashcard media, and PjBL integrated with STEM-based e-learning. The implications of this study can be used as a reference and essential alternative for future researchers to design learning tools using specific learning methods/models to increase students' or college students' creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Objective: This research is a preliminary study that aims to describe the scientific literacy skills of junior high school students based on tests using questions with indicators of scientific literacy skills, according to PISA. Method: This research was quantitative descriptive analysis research that used 20 questions with indicators of scientific literacy skills to measure the level of students' scientific literacy skills. Data were collected using a purposive sampling technique to obtain a sample of 102 students from 3 schools in Banjarmasin. Findings: Based on the research results obtained from 102 students, 11 had scientific literacy skills at level 5 or with good criteria. Then, 29 students are at the level of scientific literacy skill level 4 with enough criteria. Furthermore, 37 students are at the level of scientific literacy skills level 3 with deficient criteria. Moreover, 25 students are still at the level of scientific literacy skills level 2 with low criteria. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to have follow-up efforts and more attention from related teachers to focus more on developing students' scientific literacy skills in the future. Novelty: The research novelty was to explain each level of scientific literacy ability that students reach. Hopefully, these things will be more helpful for further research, because the data that is presented is not just about the percentage of the quantity number. However, it is already explained in more detail.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to produce a junior high school-level scientific literacy test on the topic of the human respiratory system in the Merdeka Indonesia curriculum. Method: The method used in this study is a modified research and development method. The data collection technique was carried out using the validation method of Aiken calculations. The scientific literacy test instrument was developed using scientific literacy indicators from the adaptation of Gormally et al. (2012) combined with learning objectives. Then it was validated by three validators who are experts in their fields. The validator provides a Likert scale score (1-4) and suggestions as material for consideration for improvement. The validator assesses the instrument based on material substance, construction, and language aspects. The research data were analyzed quantitatively and descriptively. Results: The results of the validation were then carried out by Aiken calculations, with very valid results, namely the value of V ≤ 0.80 on the substance aspect of 0.89, the construction aspect of 0.94, and the language aspect of 0.93. The scientific literacy instruments developed are valid and can be used to measure the scientific literacy of junior high school students in the Merdeka Indonesia Curriculum. Novelty: This research can provide an overview of scientific literacy instruments per the Merdeka curriculum, which can motivate teachers to train in scientific literacy.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to describe the validity of inquiry-based learning tools on students' scientific argumentation abilities. The validity of the developed device is viewed from the aspects of content, language, and presentation. This type of research is pre-experimental without a control group. Method: The method used is the 4D model (define, design, and development), which is modified and implemented in the Postgraduate Program in Science Education, State University of Surabaya. The data collection technique was carried out using the learning device validation method. The assessment instrument uses a device validation sheet. The tools developed include LIP, ST, SAS, and students' scientific argumentation ability tests. Three biology lecturers assessed the validity of this inquiry-based learning tool. Data analysis was conducted quantitatively, and the Aiken validity index and reliability were calculated. Results: The validation results obtained the validity index Aikens LIP 0.97, ST 0.93, SW 0.99, and scientific argumentation test 1.00 with high validity and reliability categories. Novelty: the researcher considers that not many previous studies have conducted research on the material of the Human Respiratory System, especially in class XI Science based on guided inquiry which includes five indicators of scientific argument, namely claims, ground used, warrants given, counterarguments generated and rebuttal offered. However, this research focuses on the validation analysis of inquiry-based learning tools on high school students' scientific argumentation abilities.
