Abstract

Objective: This study aims to improve collaborative skills and student learning outcomes in science subjects by using the teaching at the right level (TaRL) learning approach by utilizing Canva media in the learning process. Method: The research method used was classroom action research involving 32 students of class 8B at Junior High School 3 Madiun. The research stage uses the Kemmis & Mc. Taggar model. The survey was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of two meetings including the stages of planning, implementation of actions, observation and reflection. The data sources used in the study are observations during learning, tests, and learning evaluation results. Results: Showing a positive impact of learning using the TaRL approach by using Canva learning media, especially on collaborative skills and student learning outcomes. The results of observation and evaluation showed an improvement in collaboration skills and learning outcomes after implementing the TaRL approach through Canva's learning media. Novelty: This research has a novelty because the use of the TaRL approach with Canva media will bring out students' creativity so that cohesiveness with the team is established, design learning that allows students to obtain learning concepts, and make it easier for teachers to apply this approach in science learning.

Abstract

Objective: This study examines the correlation between servant leadership, supervisory competency, and teacher performance in school quality. Method: The results of this investigation were confirmed by employing a statistical survey approach. The structural equation model's PLS-SEM method for prediction was used to generate the values of the latent variables. The research sample comprised nineteen principals and two hundred thirty-one elementary school teachers from the Ciwandan sub-district of Cilegon City in Banten Province. Results: Structural model statistical studies show a positive relationship between servant leadership and supervisory competence. Supervision competency and school quality are not positively correlated. Servant leadership is positively correlated with teacher performance, and teacher performance is positively correlated with school quality. Novelty: The novelty of this research is that there are differences in emphasis, research participants, and integration of research components compared to other research. This study introduces novel research integrating servant leadership, supervisory competency, and teacher performance in school quality. This innovative research integrates multiple variables into a single unit for investigation and analysis.

Abstract

Objective: Design thinking is one of the methods used to carry out the design process. So, in solving this design problem, design students, especially Graphic Design students, should carry out the stages of design thinking for the work design process. The measurement of design thinking ability is a written exam to get a standardized assessment. This Research aims to describe the development of a design thinking test instrument for graphic design students. Method: The design thinking test instrument consists of 30 multiple-choice questions. After the questions were completed, five experts validated the question. The results of content validation to five experts were analyzed using the Content Validity Ratio. The question was then tested on 30 Unesa Graphic Design students. The results of each question item were tested for validity through the Rasch model with the STATA Program and ConQuest. Results: To test the reliability of the instrument using Cronbach Alpha. The result is CVR scoring between 0.500 and 1.000, and the alpha Reliability value exceeds 0.881. The results of the total item correlation test vary from -0.0391 to 0.465, while the INFIT MNSQ value of the Rasch model starts with a value of 0.500 to 1.300. Novelty: It is concluded that the written test assessment instrument is empirically valid, so the design thinking skills assessment instrument is feasible to use.

Abstract

Objective: This research examines the principal's strategy for building superior schools and how superior school service systems are built. Method: This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with a case study type and a multisite study design, where data collection uses in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation studies. The analysis uses data display, reduction, drawing conclusions, and verification. The subjects of this research were student guardians, administrators, school principals, and teachers. It was conducted at two Islamic boarding school-based private junior high schools in Lamongan Regency. Results: The principal's strategic management begins with a) School Self-Evaluation, strategic planning, strategy implementation, and strategy monitoring and evaluation; b) Formulating the Vision, Mission, and Goals of educational institutions involving all elements; c) Developing the quality of education begins with organizing teacher human resources starting from recruitment strategy, career development, improving welfare, further education as well as providing rewards and punishments, d) Creative and innovative learning management by the concept of an independent curriculum which is also modified with Islamic boarding schools curricula such as reciting the yellow book, tahfidz Qur'an program, and Dauroh, e) management of infrastructure facilities Novelty: The school principal's leadership strategy management will be effective if it is adjusted to the targets. This research is a community with a Santri background, so effective management of superior schools must also be based on Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using wordwall media on science learning outcomes at the primary school level. This research is important to explore the use of interactive technology in improving student understanding and academic achievement in science lessons. Method: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using wordwall media on science learning outcomes at the primary school level. This research is important to explore the use of interactive technology in improving student understanding and academic achievement in science lessons. Results: The analysis showed that using Wordwall media significantly improved science learning outcomes and learning motivation and created a more interactive and fun learning atmosphere for students. The advantages of Wordwall include active student engagement, increased information retention, personalized learning, collaboration, and real-time feedback. Several studies have shown an increase in the average student score after using Wordwall and increased student activeness and enthusiasm in following the learning process. Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in exploring the specific use of Wordwall in the context of science learning in elementary school and its impact on improving student learning outcomes. Although Wordwall has been widely researched in education in general, this study provides new insights into how this interactive media can effectively improve the quality of science learning at the primary school level and provides recommendations for integrating technology in science teaching.

Abstract

Objective: This research aims to assess the effectiveness of the Project-Based Learning (PJBL) method on student achievement in the Aqidah Akhlak subject in class X at Ma Ma'arif Balong. Method: The research method was a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of two classes: one class as experimental group 1, which received Aqidah Akhlak learning using the Contextual Teaching and Learning method, and one class as experimental group 2, which received learning Aqidah Akhlak using the Project Learning method. Data was collected through test instruments covering various aspects of the learning material of class X. Results: The research results were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis techniques. The analysis results show that students who study using the PJBL method significantly increase their learning achievement compared to students who use the conventional method, which only reaches 48.20%. Students involved in PJBL learning show a better understanding of concepts, applying moral values, and problem-solving abilities. Novelty: This research contributes to strengthening empirical evidence regarding the effectiveness of the PJBL method in improving student learning achievement in the Aqidah Akhlak subject. The implication is that innovative and interactive learning approaches such as PJBL must be implemented to improve the quality of Islamic learning at the upper secondary level. Researchers hope that the results of this research can provide valuable contributions to teachers, schools, and other educational stakeholders to improve learning approaches in the future.

Abstract

Objective: The researcher chose a topic of discussion regarding the comparison of 2 learning models that are theoretically effective for use in the classroom when learning Aqidah Akhlak. In its application, learning the Aqidah Morals can be delivered through several methods. This research aims to test the effectiveness of collaborative and discovery learning models on students' creative thinking skills. Method: The research method used was a pre-test and post-test design experiment. The research sample consisted of 2 classes divided into two groups, namely two experimental groups that used collaborative and discovery learning models. The data analysis technique used in this research is the normality test using the Shapiro-Wilk, independent sample t-test, paired sample t-test, and N-Gain tests. Results: After the treatment, the data analysis from the post-test scores can be seen. Based on the N-Gain Test shows that creative thinking skills increased significantly in both groups after treatment, with data results in the collaborative group being 0.46 < 0.70 in the medium category and the discovery group only 0.27 < 0.30 in the low category. These data showed a more significant improvement in the group that received collaborative learning than in the discovery group. Novelty: This research presents novelty, which lies in the comparative approach taken to analyze the two methods simultaneously, as well as the use of holistic, quantitative measuring tools to identify significant changes in students' creative thinking abilities.

Abstract

Objective: Good infrastructure can help teachers in presenting learning materials better. Infrastructure can also assist principals in conducting school administration management more efficiently to focus on developing the quality of learning. This study aims to explore the role of infrastructure as a mediator of the influence of principal leadership and teacher competence on the quality of learning. Method: This study used a quantitative survey of randomly selected 42 teachers at SHS 1 Kawedanan Magetan. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire consisting of a Likert scale with 5 points. PLS-SEM analysis is used to analyze data and test conceptual models. Data analysis techniques include statistical tests to test relationships and mediation. Results: The results showed that the quality of learning was directly influenced insignificantly by the principal (β=-0.097; ρ=0.522) and teacher competence. Novelty: Infrastructure mediates significantly in improving the quality of learning. Schools and educational institutions must invest time and resources in training and professional development for teachers and principals in leadership, classroom management, and effective teaching methods. The overall quality of learning will improve when the principal can lead the school towards a clear vision of learning, and teachers have adequate skills and knowledge to plan, implement, and evaluate learning effectively.

Abstract

Objective: Science education in elementary schools provides basic scientific knowledge and skills and develops students' critical and creative thinking abilities. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using pop-up books as media in learning science in elementary schools. Method: In this study, researchers applied the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method using the Google Scholar database. The literature search focused on the initial keyword "learning media," restricted from 2019 to 2024, resulting in 86,200 articles. Furthermore, with the addition of the keyword "pop-up book," 4,120 articles were found. Then, adding the last keyword, "science in elementary school," resulted in 318 articles. From this number, data selection and eligibility tests were carried out to obtain suitable articles until 11 appropriate articles were obtained and by the literature review's objectives. Results: Based on the study's results, it can be concluded that pop-up book media has proven effective in learning science in elementary schools. Novelty: For educators, engaging learning media in learning science is recommended to convey the learning material well and effectively, including pop-up books.

Abstract

Objective: The rising popularity of gamification as an academic topic can be attributed to the growing affordability of Internet access through smartphones. One major challenge for gamification applications is maintaining student engagement and active participation. This research investigated whether students’ engagement and reading comprehension significantly correlated with using Quizlet for vocabulary learning at a public senior high school in Gresik. Method: This research used a correlational research design. The subject of this study consisted of 30 students who used Quizlet for vocabulary learning. The research instruments were a questionnaire and a data sheet on students’ reading scores collected from their teachers. The researcher used Descriptive and Pearson correlation through the SPSS Statistics 16.0 program to analyze the data. Results: This research revealed that students’ engagement was moderate while using Quizlet for vocabulary learning. Then, the correlation coefficient was 0.429*, and the significance 2-tailed value was 0.018. From the sig-value, there was a significant correlation between the two variables, and the correlation value showed that the correlation was positive in the moderate category. Students' engagement and reading comprehension while using Quizlet for vocabulary learning had a significant correlation with a moderate correlation, and this indicated that an increase followed most students' engagement increase in their reading comprehension. Novelty: This study significantly contributes to understanding how students' engagement influences their reading comprehension when using Quizlet for vocabulary learning. It also establishes a positive and statistically significant correlation with a coefficient of 0.429underscores that higher engagement levels correspond to improved reading comprehension outcomes.
