Abstract

Agricultural systems carried out by local farmers on dry land sloping topography Gowa in particular proved a negative impact on production which impact on decreasing the income of farmers. This study aims to determine whether the Hedgerow integrated farming systems may increase the income of dryland farmers. The research was conducted on dry land with a slope of 30% in Gowa. Research using randomized complete block design with four treatments and two replications. Components of each treatment that is P0 (corn, mangosteen, Gliricidia), P1 (corn, mangosteen, Gamal, mischantus), P2 (corn, mangosteen, Gamal, Setaria), P3 (corn, mangosteen, Gamal, elephant grass) economic analysis using nalisis production, R / c Ratio and NPV. The results of the analysis of production per season showed P3 treatment is treated with the highest income of USD 19,123,446 and in line with the highest total receipts per year. R / c ratio integrated farming systems Hedgerow very feasible where P3 has feasibility level high while the NPV P0 is treated with NPV room where the first year until the 6th year that are in deficit figures while P1, P2, P3 obtained an increase from the first year until the 20th year. This study proves that integrated farming systems Hedgerow increase farmers' income and very worthy to be applied on dry land marginal bertopografi particularly skewed

Abstract

Potential land resources can be expected through land evaluation activities. This study aims to evaluate the suitability of Tompobulu Subdistrict of Bantaeng Regency for the development of pepper plant (Piper nigrum L). This research was conducted in Tompobulu Sub-district of Bantaeng Regency which started from March to July 2016. This research used qualitative method and to determine land suitability using simple limiting factor approach. Determination of observation points based on the overlapping results of the baseline maps that resulted in 6 units of observation (soil profile). Production data and management of pepper crop obtained from farmers of respondents amounted to 10 people. The result of the study shows that the climate type of the research area according to Oldeman is classified as B2 with the actual land suitability class which is quite suitable (S2) with 3,657 Ha and the marginal fit (S3) with 3,023 Ha with rainfall limiting factor, soil depth, Slope, and surface rocks whereas the suitability class is quite suitable (S2) with an area of 6,160 Ha and corresponding marginally (S3) with an area of 520 Ha with rainfall and soil depth limiting factors. The potential of pepper plant development in Tompobulu Sub-district of Bantaeng Regency is quite large indicated by the percentage of land area that is quite suitable (S2) (82.40%).

Abstract

Experimental research will be executed on farm of rice field sample in BPP Palaguna at Wajo Regency. Obstetrical nutrients Analysis of crop and soil will be done in soil Fertility Laboratory, soil sciences department of Faperta Unhas. This Research aim to analyze the ability of nutrients absorption of soy and maize with the mulch application on rice field rainfed. Research will be done/conducted by using Factorial Device in Group ( RDG). First Factor that is crop type with three treatment level that is L1 = Soy; L2 = Maize; and L3 = Maize + Soy. Second Factor is with mulch (M1) and without mulch (M0). Every treatment unit repeated by 3 times, so there are 18 plot, added a plot which is not cultivated as control for the perception of dynamics of Nitrogen (N) and Phosphorous (P) without palawija cultivation. Reason of the crop election for example because both types of the crop have their own system of root and different morphology characteristic which their possibility will influence the ability of conservation N. Result of analysis indicate that ability of absorption of N and P of maize and soy is better with the mulch application on rice field rainfed

Abstract

Soil forming process can influence soil stability, especially on a sloping area, which is currently related to landslides. This research aims to study mineral content in the soil as an indicator to evaluate soil stability in slope area. Soil texture analyzed with hydrometer and soil mineral analyzed with Kerr method. Soil parent rock comes from Tpbv (Tertiary Pliocene Baturape Volcanic) Formation that consists of lava, breccia, tuff, and conglomerate. Soil texture in A horizon dominated with silty clay loam and in B horizon with silty clay. Clay content in A horizon to B horizon increase ranges from 2-6%. Soils mineral have been weathering on the physical and chemical, which caused cracking on minerals lattice and formed clay minerals inside it. The presence of clay minerals between soil mineral particles can cause mutual repulsion force and cause friction particles that triggering the movement of particles in a small scale when soil saturated by water and triggers soil movement (landslide).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the characteristics of soil pores and therelationship of pore characteristics with soil permeability. Soil samples were collected from Punagaya Village, Bangkala District, Jeneponto Regency, South Sulawesi. Soil samples were taken from 20 observation points representing two types of land use ie cultivated land and fallow field at a depth of 0-60 cm. Soil analysis (pH, organic material, C-organic, cation exchange capacity, bulk density and soil texture), Pore characteristics(porosity, pore distribution and pore stability), and permeability. Analysis of soil properties and pore characteristics was descriptive, while the relationship between pore characteristics and permeability was analyzed by single or multiple regression and correlation analysis. The results showed that the permeability of soil vertisol 0.29 cm/h (slow) and the average value of soil pore characteristics of vertisol as follows: porosity ranged 56.49%, fast drainage pore 4.35%, water pore available 17.8% And 32.5% micro pores, and 36.46% pore stability. Based on the regression and correlation test, it is known that Porosity and porosity and pore stability index have the greatest influence on permeability.
