Abstract

This article presents an in-depth analysis of 1 Corinthians 6:11, departing from the historical context of the first century Corinthians who experienced moral decadence in line with the reality in today's Indonesia where Christians fail to show behavior that has undergone divine transformation. This verse serves as a rhetorical and theological climax in Paul's argument against sinful practices in the church. Through a theological analysis from the Pentecostal perspective of three key terms: washed, sanctified, and justified by God's central role, it is shown that the verse is not merely a warning, but rather a proclamation of a fundamental new identity for believers as a divine transformation in the midst of moral decadence. It is concluded that 1 Corinthians 6:11 is a transformative divine declaration, transforming the identity of sinners into heirs of God's Kingdom that has been washed, sanctified, and justified. In the Pentecostal perspective, the work of the Holy Spirit is the foundation for divine transformation.

Abstract

Matthew chapters 5-7 are commonly called the Sermon of Christ on the Mount. The opening (Matt. 5:1-2) and concluding verses (Matt. 7:28-29) affirm that Jesus taught with divine authority. Through a qualitative method with a literature review approach, this article interprets both passages from a Pentecostal point of view, relating them to homiletics. The findings of the study show that the delivery of the word is not just a human task, but an act of divinity because: the Holy Spirit anoints the preacher, the preacher has spiritual authority, and the powerful preaching causes wonder. The authority in the teaching of Jesus, became the inspiration for the powerful sermons of the Pentecostals. Its implications for today's homiletics include: balancing biblical exegesis with spiritual readiness, delivering sermons with divine authority, and a style of preaching that is responsive to the work of the Holy Spirit.

Abstract

This article is written to examine the hermeneutical approach of Walter C. Kaiser, Jr., in his critique of the use of analogy of faith (analogia fidei) as the main interpretive tool in biblical theology. Kaiser proposed Analogia Antecedents as an alternative to interpreting the Bible based on previously revealed texts chronologically. The aim is to maintain the historical intent and the true intent (authoritative) of the original author. The research in this article uses a qualitative literature study method with a comparative analysis approach to Kaiser's main works and hermeneutical literature from the Pentecostal tradition. Through comparative analysis, it was found that both still adhere to the authority of the Bible, but both offer different heuristic methodologies in interpreting the text, where one emphasizes the structure of progressive revelation, while the other gives place to pneumatological experience. The conclusion obtained is that these two approaches have their respective strengths and limitations, but both open up opportunities for rich integration between faithfulness to the text and sensitivity to the role of the Holy Spirit in biblical interpretation.
