Abstract

Abstract- The objective of the study was to determine the extent to which the SLB-D YPAC BANDUNG had adopted the Human Capital Management (HCM) practices. The HCM practices that were explored include: resourcing, strategies, talent management, learning and development, and performance and reward management strategies. The study used the case study design that was based on a target population of 30 people in the school. A sample of twenty nine (29) staff, just excluding the headmaster was selected. Data collection instruments used by the study were an interview guide and a questionnaire. However, a substantial amount of data was collected through documentary analysis. A response rate of 100% was achieved by the questionnaire technique, while one of the four interviewee sampled were interviewed. Both content and quantitative analysis were used to analyze data which was then presented in frequency tables, percentages, rank ordering, and mean scores and standard deviation. Overall, the findings of the study indicate that the organization has implemented HCM practices, but to a negligible extent. Some of the HCM practices adopted by the organization include: : effective communication channel, equipping them with competencies required to achieve the organizational goal, and Explaining organization mission, vision, and value to the staff. However, the rest of the practices have either not been adopted or are adopted to a negligible extent. The study also suggests that there is need for further research, particularly in the area of human capital measurement, since the organization didn’t use any tool available and the continued applied research for when the organization had implemented a clear human capital measurement. Keywords: Human capital management, competitive advantage, human capital advantage, intangible assets and human capital planning.Category: Performance Management, Human Resource Management

Abstract

Abstract-Soundness assessment is important for to know how effective the company’s performance in achieving the vision and objectives. With the similar sectors, the soundness level analysis classified in 2 categories that are the category company with bank-loan and the category of company without bank-loan. SMEs Soundness Assessment Measurement is the first SME Soundness measurement developed by Raden Roro Mirna and Subiakto Soekarno. In measuring SMEs’ soundness, there are two aspect required that are financial and nonfinancial aspect. (Soundness Assessment Measurement Development for Indonesia Small and Medium Enterprises, 2014). The samples obtained are 15 service industry companies that consist of 9 companies with bank-loan and 6 companies without bank-loan. The sample’s assessment result will be compared using Independent Sample T-test with confidence level (α) 0.05. From the result shows that the sample group with bank-loan has 2 companies obtain “Good Soundness I” with rating AAA and the other 7 companies obtain “Good Soundness II” with rating AA. The sample group without bank-loan results 2 companies obtain “Good Soundness II” with rating AA and 4 companies obtain “Fair Soundness I” with rating BBB. Based on the Independent T-test results there is no significant difference in financial aspect mean between company with loans and without loans that statistically proven by p > 0.05. While based on nonfinancial aspect, there is a significant difference in mean between companies with bank-loan and without bank-loan that statistically proven by p < 0.05. Keyword: small business, service Industry Company, bank-loan, SME Soundness Assessment Measurement, financial, nonfinancial.

Abstract

Abstract. Quadruple Helix is a system of collaboration between university, industry, government and citizen. Quadruple Helix consists of government as policy maker, university as researcher, industry as economic driver manufacturer plus community as connector between the three actors. Bandung is known as the city of fashion, as we can see from the large quanity of both supply and demand for fashion industry. This is an indication that Bandung has huge potential for creative industry development especially fashion. The aim of this study is to mapping and maximize the potential of QH actors in Bandung. The output of this research is Quadruple Helix program master plan. Abstract

Abstract-According to Bank Indonesia’s 2012 annual report, Indonesia’shousehold consumption and investment have been relatively high which have created a market opportunitiesfir domestic industry, in particular for automobile industry. Automobile industry has experienced a growth rate of 10% from 2012 to 2013, which was the highest growth percentage of automobile industry in Southeast Asia. Currently, one of the biggest players in Indonesia automobile industry is Indomobil (PT IMAS), which was established in 1976. Tan Chong, a Malaysia based automobile company is chosen to be the peer firm, due to its similar characteristics and the comparable market condition with Indomobil’s. This thesis examines the financial performanceof PT IMAS and Tan Chong from 2009 to 2014 using several method such as industry, Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR), cross-section analysis, DuPont formula analysis.This research also values those two companies using established valuation approaches such as relative multiple and discounted free cash flow model.Financial performance analysis shows that PT IMAShave been struggling while Tan Chong also came underperformed as shown by the unfavorable 2014 performance for both companies. This is due to competitive market environment and higher cost attributed to rough exchange rate condition. Multiple valuation and discounted cash flow models show that PT IMAS and Tan Chong overvalued. Therefore it is suggested that investors are advised to take caution on their investment decision onPT IMAS and Tan Chong and they are recommended to sell their shares in those company. Keywords: Automobile industry, financial performance,financial ratios, DuPont formula, Valuation

Abstract

Abstract - The limited electricity supply in Indonesia nowadays could results in condition where the social, economic growth in Indonesia is restrained. In Response, the government has created programs and policies regarding the electricity to encourage private sector to invest and build power plant development. PT. Sangriang Megasakti has the initiative to create a private micro hydro power plant named PLTM Gumanti. However, in order to establish the project, a feasibility analysis must be conducted in order to determine whether the project is feasible or not. Thus, this research is proposed to analyze the financial feasibility of Gumanti micro hydro project. In this case, research used financial tools in analyzing the project feasibility such as net present value, internal rate of return, payback period, profitability index, and economic value added. In calculating the tools and analyzing the results, several data of the project are required such as total capital expenditure of the project, the operational and maintenance expenditure, and the cash inflow from the electricity generated. The results from the financial feasibility analysis of the project are as follows: the net present value is IDR 45,606,095,418, the internal rate of return is 64%, the profitability index is 4.76, the payback period is 1 year 10 months, and the economic value added is IDR 21,705,617,081. The conclusion of the project is that project was good and feasible to develop. Moreover, the economic value added and rate of return shows that the project economically and financially are worth doing. As recommendation, the researcher recommends to create a letter of intent to conduct a good business and to negotiate the credit rate with the lenders, since the project has big rate of return and fast payback period. Keywords: Feasibility Study, Micro Hydro Power plant, Project analysis

Abstract

Abstract. This study aimed to analyze the influence of advertising and the quality of service to brand equity in the Midnight Sun in Jakarta. The method used is descriptive quantitative analysis with correlational analysis approach. The model in question is the relationship between the dependent variable with independent variables, using multiple regression models with ordinal data. Ordinal data compiled based on Likert scale. The dependent variable is the brand equity (Y) and the independent variables are advertising (X1) and quality of service (X2). Place of this research done in Midnight Sun Jakarta by using a sample of 75 people and the determination of the sample using simple random sampling technique.The results showed that advertising has a significant impact on the brand equity of Midnight Sun. Service quality significantly impacts on the brand equity of Midnight Sun. Service quality is more dominant than advertising on brand quity of Midnight Sun.Based on the results of multiple regression test found the coefficient of determination (R Square) of 0.814. This means that the independent variable (advertising and quality of service) contribute to dependent variable (brand equity) amounted to 81.4% while the remaining 18.6% is influenced by other factors not examined, such as product quality, price policy, the business location and so on. Keywords: Advertising, Service Quality and Brand Equity.

Abstract

Abstract-Psychological Capital or Psycap is a concept developed by Luthans and his colleagues in which theorized the role of one’s positive psychological disposition could add competitive advantage to organizations and individuals alike, much like Social and Financial Capital could. The Psycap concept is composed of specifically the four positive psychological capacity of hope, self-efficacy, optimism, and resiliency. Given the lack of research regarding  the relationship of Positive Psychological Capital with entrepreneurial traits, this research aims to find it. As a business school that emphasizes heavily on entrepreneurial vision for their students, the research uses MBA Students of  School of Business and Management ITB as a sample of the study and uses descriptive statistics along with SEM analysis to analyze the hypothesized relationship of positivity and entrepreneurship.The result conclusively proves, that Psycap positively affects entrepreneurial traits of the students, with optimism and resiliency to be the state with  the highest impact on entrepreneurship.   Keywords:Psychological Capital, Entrepreneurial Trait, Positivity,Entrepreneurship, Bandung

Abstract

Abstract - Risks is the part of human life. Everybody in this world cannot avoid risks. Every activities always connected and associated to the risks. Even its small thing like walking in pedestrian has risk like falling or tripping or big thing like government policy, which is related to lives of many people. One that associated in the lives of many people is water, water cannot be separated from human life because every person in the world needs water to live. One of the companies that provide clean water for people is PDAM or Perusahaan Daerah Air Minum. PDAM is local owned company that has function to supply clean water for citizen of the region, in this case is city. Semarang City also has its own PDAM to meet the needs of its residents of clean water. In carrying out its function, PDAM Semarang also cannot be separated from risks. One of the main part in PDAM Business is production. Without production, PDAM Semarang will not be able to provide clean water for Semarang City residents. This study has three objectives, to determine, analyze and mitigate the operational risks in production of PDAM Semarang especially in Water Treatment Installation 1 who served in Sampangan, Semarang. The results of this study can be used as material for evaluation for PDAM Semarang to face these kind of risks in the future so the company can minimize the impact and losses of the risks. The method used in this study is Monte Carlo Simulation. This analysis is used to predict potential probability and severity of each risk. The probability and severity of each risks simulated compared to the probability and severity for the past 4 years. By comparing the risks simulated and history risks, the writer can determine whether the risk have major impact or not for production. The results reveal that some risks have low probability and severity such as flooding, high water turbidity, production machines problems, red raw water, sedimentation and blackout. These risks can be accepted and retained by PDAM Semarang City because they got low impact. Risk that has high probability and low severity is high cost employee when holiday, this risk recommended to be transferred to contractor or outsourcing company so PDAM doesn’t get impact anymore. For the risk that has high probability and severity is pipe distribution leak will be recommended to be reduced.  Key words: Operational risk management, Monte carlo simulation, PDAM Semarang City, Risk mitigation

Abstract

Abstract- Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) is the largest business executor to the Indonesia’s national Product Domestic Bruto (PDB). It contribute 59.8% to the total of PDB, according to the government data related to MSME period 2011-2012. Due to the size of the company, it is inevitable that MSME required to have an efficient workflow and material purchasing in order to minimize the costs and create a better margin in profit. MSME in fashion industry is one of the most promising business ventures, an apparel outsourcing called Grooveline is one of those.  Grooveline is a company which offer the service of T-shirt manufacturing that can be ordered according to customer’s wishes in term of design, color, image to be printed, fabrics, and size. Based on the interview with the company’s owner and manager, it was obtained that it is important for Grooveline apparel outsourcing company to be able to fulfil their customer’s demand. These objective, however, inhibited by the problem of the company’s inability to determine what materials should be purchased and how much the need is, and the problem of the company’s inability to make a production planning in order to fulfill the customer demand in the right amount and on the right time.Thus, a calculation of Material Requirement Planning (MRP) of each product produced is crucial to the business in order to design an effective purchasing order. The implementation of the aforementioned plan shall prevent the company from wasting materials and to conduct a more effective production and lead a more profitable business. The requirement that need to be met in order to make a calculation of MRP,  are the availability of product structure, Master Production Schedule, Bills of Material, purchasing and production lead time, a time phased structure, Gross Material Requirement, a lot sizing and net material requirement. The final calculation of MRP requirement are being totaled and being compared to the actual purchasing data that the company has performed to satisfy the previous demand. This action is conducted in order to show how much efficiency the company can create when performing MRP from the beginning of period. Result of the total calculation has shown that if company has implemented MRP from the beginning, company can save the amount of Rp 4,459,500,- in price and make saving of 11%.  Keywords: Cost Efficiency, Apparel Outsourcing, Material Requirement Planning, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME)

Abstract

Abstract - Co-operative is an autonomous association of persons; voluntarily united to meet their common economic, social and cultural aspirations and needs through a jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprise (ICA, 2012). International Co-operative Alliances recorded that the problem of Indonesian co-operatives from the Government point of view, the biggest problem that the co-operatives, especially small co-operatives, are facing now is the vulnerability of financial structure (ICA, 2012). This study is aimed to learn about the actual financial condition and performance of co-operatives in Bandung, West Java. The outcome of this research is average financial performance, the distribution of financial condition and the best practice from co-operatives sample in Bandung, West Java. Common tools to observe the financial condition and performance is financial ratio analysis, financial ratio analysis described the financial structure of firm according to the financial aspect and the proportion of each financial data. The method used on this research is Financial Ratio analysis of co-operatives financial data. The financial ratio from co-operatives sample transformed in to financial score using the tools from Indonesia Ministerial decree of Co-operative and Small-Medium enterprises number 06/per/M.KUKM/V/2006 on assessment principle for good performing co-operative scoring. The financial score classified in to several conditions based on score range classification by Indonesia Ministerial decree of Co-operative and Small-Medium enterprises number 22/per/K.UMKM/2007 about co-operative classification performance. The result shows that the average financial performance of co-operative sample in Bandung, West Java have increased continuously in last three years. The distribution of financial condition of co-operatives sample in Bandung, West Java, following the percentage: 62.5% of co-operatives sample are in low financial performance, 37.5% of co-operatives sample are in good financial performance. From 8 co-operatives sample in Bandung, West Java, the best practice from the sample is Primkopau Husein Sastranegara. Primkopau achieved the highest total financial score of all co-operatives sample. From the gap analysis and financial ratio breakdown analysis, the important factor that drives Primkopau performance is:1.Capability to give capital feedback for member.2.Low-debt capital structure.3.High member participation in co-operative financial Capital.
