The Indonesia Journal of Business Administration(IJBA) is a business journal that bridges the gap between business research and practice, evaluating and reporting on new research to help readers identify and understand significant trends in their fields. The IJBA seeks to publish papers relating to business, broadly defined. It publishes articles that address both theoretical and practical issues in the broad areas of Business Strategy and Marketing, People and Knowledge Management, Entrepreneurship and Technology Management, Decision Making and Strategic Negotiation, Operation and Performance Management, and Business Risk and Finance.Contributing academicians and researchers are encouraged to address a variety of concerns relating to all areas of business. We also encourage students to use an interdisciplinary approach to analyzing a topic, which often yields interesting and novel papers. The published articles provide valuable insight into matters of broad intellectual and practical concern to academicians and business professionals. The Journalis published three times a year: in April, July and October. The journal is mainly an outlet of MBA ITB students to publish their final project works, although it also accepts articles written by students at masters level from other institutions. A published paper is an honor that will be unambiguously beneficial for professional and academic careers, especially for those who want to attend graduate/professional schools. This means that papers written in relations to Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Management, Operations Management, Information Systems, Business Law, Corporate Ethics, and Public Policy all qualify for submission. Information on the journal format can be found in the journal's website. The number of pages must be at 10 pages. Abstract

Abstract. Mie Ayung is a noodle shop that was founded by Hendra Paulus in 2005. Mie Ayung is focusing on serving Bangka authentic chicken noodle that taste delicious and affordable for office workers and new small family. Mie Ayung serve homemade product, it’s specialty such as: chicken noodle, pempek (fried fish cake), and Tahu-Kok (fish meat ball, and tofu meat ball). Although the company surviving more than a decade, Mie Ayung having a hard time in today’s competitive environment where the company is struggling to growing with rapidly changing new trend and reading customer preferences. This past year economy and political condition in Indonesia, especially Jakarta, makes the company replanned for opening new outlets due to bad economic conditions which is resulting in fear of not being able to make enough sales to cover the business. Also, the trend of hybrid Instant noodle that currently blooming in Jakarta, has become a challenge for Mie Ayung, the sales and enthusiasm for traditional noodle shop has been decreasing. To solve these problems, the methodological approach will be used by mixing mixing method of integrating quantitative and qualitative data. In-depth structured interviews will be used to completing qualitative data, while quantitative data will be accumulated from questionnaire; which, using SWOT matrix, TWOS matrix, and the Porter’s three generic strategies, the best strategy for Mie Ayung can be tailored to sustain the business in competitive environment and define different strategy, where the company will emphasize the uniqueness in terms of time, customers, location, and customer relationships in the new business model canvas. In the proposed business plan for Mie Ayung, the company can solve the problem by looking for new approached. Adding more customers by open up and adding its customer segments. As well as give better dining experiences and creates more comfortable space for the customers. The rapid current of trends changing can be challenging, however Mie Ayung can also ride the current and having fun. Mie Ayung can start going online, creating websites and involved in app based food ordering regime; therefore, Mie Ayung can both increasing sales and get exposure to broader audiences.Keywords: Business model canvas, noodles food, Porter’s three generic strategies, restaurant, sustainable competitive advantage, SWOT analysis, TOWS analysis.

Abstract

Abstract. This Final Project is concerning about the problem occurred in the Tax and Accounting Department of PT Freeport Indonesia. In tax department one of the biggest cost incurred coming from tax audit result, one caused by wrong deduction in withholding tax transactions. This problem occurred because the system that currently available is still relying on manual recording and processing. The objective of the final project is to provide a new alternative of invoice administration system to be proposed to the management. From the research, the writer concludes there are three process can be improved to be computerized basis, as follows: input data process from manual input to automatic input by using Optical Character Recognition, Withholding Tax deduction checking process from manual checking to Web checking process and document archiving process from manual archive to barcode archiving process. By implementing this final project, the Company will potentially save USD 128.000 per year from miscalculation and around USD 21.000 per year from the time consume efficiency. Furthermore, the availability of supported technology, and the ability of the company to fund this project also become factor to be considered by the company to implement this project. Keyword : Invoice Administration, Tax Review Proses, Decision Making  Abstract. Abstract

Abstract. This research will analyze a business case of PT. XL Axiata Tbk. (XL), a mobile telecommunication operator, with specific focus on penetration market of the SMEs to get more new subscribers. Therefore, the objective of writing the paper is to identify how XL could possibly increase new subscribers of SMEs through business strategy formulation and new business model generation for XL in order to achieve sustainable competitive advantage. In order to achieve the research objectives, the data has been collected from literature study and conducted interview session with 37 SMEs. With that data, conduct further analysis using environment analysis, strategy formulation, business model and implementations plans. Based on analysis of data that has been collected, some key points that capture that the actor of SME is in millennial age which more adaptable possibility with new technology and product that offered. Digitalization should be an alternative to offer to them, such platform with integrated system to the digital media, third party system (delivery, packaging), cloud system that can be used to record any transaction, stock list. Abstract

Abstract. Performance management is a driver for organizational excellence. The success of any organization relies upon the performance of the employees, therefore employees? performance is an important consideration for businesses. The objectives of this research are to identify the challenges or barriers that facing in the implementation of performance management in PTFI, and in conjunction with that to provide the improvement recommendation. It is important to evaluate performance management practices in PTFI, to ensure performance management in PTFI is able to drives employee behavior to align with organizational goals. This research using qualitative descriptive research method. According to the results of this study, the implementation of performance management in PTFI is considered not effective, the targets set by the Company in terms of mine production and safety aspect are difficult to achieve, in addition the Company's internal work climate is not conducive. Here are problems that cause performance management at PTFI is not effective: there is no linkage between Company goals and individual goals, issues on supervisor capabilities, and performance management practices that lead to perceived injustice. To overcome the existing problems, the proposed business solution in this study is as follows: the implementation of the balanced scorecard as a measure of company performance that can translate corporate strategy, vision, and mission to the level of execution, trainings to improve supervisory skills, improvement on feedback process, and improvement on rating scale.Keyword: performance, performance management, balanced scorecard, strategy, key performance indicator, organization.

Abstract

Abstract : CV. Tiga Berlian is business engaged in the field of waste management the industrial products. CV. Tiga Berlian is established by Mr H. Dofir in 2003. The problems faced by CV. Tiga Berlian is increasingly local competition in business waste management the industrial products and also is focused on industrial waste management innocuous (non-hazardous waste), while the industry produced not only non-hazardous waste but also hazardous waste. It affects the business of CV. Tiga Berlian in terms of corporate income and the number of companies in cooperation with CV. Tiga Berlian. In exploration business, writer was using internal and external analysis to find strengths, weaknesses,  opportunities and threats. For external analysis was using PESTEL analysis and Porter’s Five Forces analysis. While, for internal analysis was using existing Business Model Canvas and Corporate Value Chain. Mean while, strategy formulation was using TOWS matrix and Business Model Canvas. The results of the analysis showed there were high competition in the business, and weakness in management. The strategy that can be applied for improving company management were focusing on efficiency, and implementing integrated management service. For facing high competition in short-term the company should be improving the management system, including financial system and team work management. In medium-term the company should be developed networks, and equipped licensing Hazardous waste. Abstract

Abstract. Oil & Gas Companies trying to manage shareholder values in a dynamic uncertain environments (Volatility of CAPEX, OPEX, Extractable reserves, Oil Gas Price, and External factors). Conventional valuation method on Capital Budgeting using Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) analysis as a base case (mindset of deterministic/ not changing futures) considered having a drawbacks in valuing projects under uncertainty. The gas project development is threatening not to be undertaken due to the raise the level of related tangible uncertainty factors (CAPEX, OPEX, Extractable reserves, Oil Gas Price, and other External factors) that not accommodated using base case of DCF analysis with constant discount rate. In another side, the project having vast multiplier effects that will empower the community in the area of the gas project. Another perspective of valuation method is needed to give another information for decision makers. Methodology-used in this final project is DCF analysis accommodating the uncertainty, using continuous DCF method with the calculation of Sensitivity analysis, the Scenario Analysis and the Monte Carlo Analysis. Real Options valuation will be calculate from Black, Scholes, and Merton formula of European financial options valuation, and using binomial lattice option methodology. Project valuation with DCF base analysis up to continuous method of Monte Carlo analysis, showing that the Net Present Value (NPV) is relatively have variance smaller of US$M 1267 toward to project valuation using Real Option. Project valuation using Real Options, may lead to unprofitable projects being undertaken. Project valuation using DCF analysis may lead to profitable project is not undertaken. Development of a hybrid, or methods that combine DCF and Real Options, may contribute in better decision making processes of project valuation under uncertainty.Key word: Uncertainty factor, Project Valuation, NPV, DCF, Real Options, Decision making process

Abstract

Abstract. The existence of e-commerce has change the way people purchase products or services. Customers are slowly get used to purchase products through E-commerce as a substitute of traditional brick and mortar stores. Indonesia as the fourth largest population in world has big potential for e-commerce business development. Along with this opportunity, JD.ID, started to operate in Indonesia on 2016. As a new comer in the industry, JD.ID is trying to gain market’s recognition and compete the existing competitors. The objective of this study is to analyze the current condition of the industry, the current business strategy of JD.ID and to formulate business solution in order to enhance JD.ID’s competitiveness in  Indonesian E-commerce industry. There are three problems addressed in this study. First is the current condition in E-commerce industry. Second question is the current JD.ID business strategy, and the last question is competitive strategy for JD.ID in e-commerce industry. According to the external analysis, Indonesian ecommerce industry is very competitive industry. Furthermore, the internal analysis of JD.ID shows that it is favorable to expand. Regarding to the current company’s situation, some alternative of business solution are generated using the combination of TOWS and Five Diamond Analysis. In order to increase the company's competitiveness, the author proposed a set of business strategy that focusing on 3 department in the firm, marketing, merchandising and  logistic and operation.Keywords: e-commerce, JD.ID, competitive strategy, online shopping, online retailer.
