Abstract

Mental health problems in students require good support from all school personnel. However, not all students who have problems are comfortable talking to others about their problems.  The purpose of this study is to describe school personnel who can make students feel comfortable to tell their story. Through this research, it is hoped that data can be obtained to serve as a basis for utilizing school personnel in providing guidance and counseling services. The study used a quantitative approach of descriptive survey type. The research sample was taken from 179 vocational school students in Yogyakarta City randomly. Data collection was conducted using an open-ended questionnaire to obtain who the school personnel were most comfortable talking to. Data analysis was done by calculating the percentage of the results of filling out the questionnaire. The results showed that the majority of students felt comfortable talking to friends, with teachers coming second and other school staff. The results of this study emphasize the chances of success of guidance and counseling services by utilizing peers, such as group-based services and peer facilitator services

Abstract

Excessive social media use among students has been linked to detrimental impacts on mental, physical, and academic well-being. This study investigated the relationship between religiosity and social media addiction among 102 college students Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Hamka. Employing an accidental sampling technique, data were collected using the MUDRAS religiosity scale and a modified social media addiction scale. Data analysis was carried out using the Pearson correlation test in SPSS 20. Pearson correlation analysis revealed a significant negative correlation (-0.212) between religiosity and social media addiction, suggesting that higher levels of religiosity are associated with lower levels of social media addiction. These findings support the notion of religiosity as a potential protective factor against this prevalent issue. Future research should explore this relationship in greater depth to develop effective prevention and intervention strategies

Abstract

This study addresses the concern over children’s increasing exposure to YouTube content that often lacks values of character education and may contribute to a crisis of character. Animated films, however, can be an alternative medium for instilling positive values, yet children frequently regard them only as entertainment and overlook their educational aspects. To explore this potential, the animated series Nussa, available on YouTube, was chosen as the research object because it integrates Islamic values and conveys moral lessons in an engaging way. The study employs a descriptive qualitative design within the framework of library research using a structuralism approach. Data were collected through documentation and analyzed using Roland Barthes’ semiotic theory, while validity was ensured through prolonged observation, persistence, and triangulation. Findings reveal three key points: first, nine character values were identified across five episodes of Nussa, namely religiosity, honesty, tolerance, creativity, curiosity, nationalism, friendliness/communicativeness, environmental care, and responsibility; second, denotative meanings illustrated everyday Muslim life through characters like Nussa, Rara, Uma, and Abdul, while connotative meanings emphasized moral values, and mythological meanings reinforced Islamic perspectives on these values; third, methods of transmitting character values included qudwah (role modeling), targhib (motivation), commands, prohibitions, tarhib (warnings), dialogue, and debate. Overall, the study concludes that the Nussa animated series serves not only as entertainment but also as a valuable medium for character education, contributing positively to children’s moral and social development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of teachers in strengthening students’ tolerance character through Akidah Akhlak learning at MTsS Kayu Aro Lindung Jaya. The urgency of this research lies in the increasing importance of tolerance education in multicultural societies, particularly in schools where students from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds interact on a daily basis. Tolerance is not only a social necessity but also a moral value that must be systematically cultivated through education. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed to explore this phenomenon in depth. Data were collected using observations, interviews, and documentation to capture comprehensive perspectives from multiple stakeholders. The research participants consisted of one Akidah Akhlak teacher, the school principal, the deputy of curriculum, and ten students representing different ethnic backgrounds. The results indicate that Akidah Akhlak learning was implemented through an integrative and holistic approach that combined theoretical knowledge with practical moral guidance. The tolerance values emphasized include respect for religious, cultural, and ethnic differences, appreciation of diverse opinions, recognition of others’ beliefs, and collaboration across diversity. These values were reinforced through classroom activities, group discussions, and extracurricular programs. Strengthening tolerance was supported by teachers’ role modeling, family upbringing, the school environment, and social experiences. The internal impacts included students’ self-awareness, empathy, and conflict resolution skills, while the external impacts contributed to creating a peaceful, harmonious, and inclusive school climate. The findings highlight the strategic role of religious education as a powerful medium for cultivating tolerance and social cohesion in multicultural contexts

Abstract

This study addresses the prevalent issue of limited learning creativity among students at MTsN 1 Sungai Penuh City, which manifests as a reluctance to express ideas, a lack of confidence in decision-making, and difficulties in problem-solving. The research aimed to investigate how students' creative character values are strengthened through the provision of group counseling services. It examines all stages of the process: planning, implementation, evaluation, as well as the obstacles encountered and their corresponding solutions. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the study utilized primary and secondary data. Information was gathered through observation, interviews, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was ensured through prolonged field engagement, persistent observation, and methodological triangulation. The findings indicate that the planning and implementation of group counseling services were both successful, with guidance and counseling teachers effectively preparing for and using habituation to build students' confidence and learning motivation. The evaluation revealed significant positive changes in students, who demonstrated greater courage to express opinions and enhanced problem-solving abilities. Despite these successes, obstacles such as varied student characters, limited cooperation among group members, and a lack of adequate facilities were identified. In conclusion, the findings highlight that group counseling is a viable and effective strategy for fostering and strengthening creative character in students, with practical implications for improving educational outcomes through a supportive and structured intervention.
