Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the efforts to overcome students' misconceptions inlearning science, especially in biotechnology material. The method used in this research isdescriptive method with qualitative and quantitative approaches. The research population wasall students of class IX MTsPN 4 Medan in the academic year 2021/2022, totaling 20 people.Determination of data sources/subjects of this research is based on cluster sampling techniquebecause the number of informants is relatively small and random, less than 30 people. Previousresearch literature is also used as additional material. Data collection techniques using test andinterview techniques. Data collection in this study used a test in the form of multiple choiceaccompanied by CRI (Certainty of Response Index). The data obtained from the results of thestudy were then analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques, to distinguish students whounderstand concepts, misconceptions and do not understand concepts. The results obtained thatthere were misconceptions about science lessons, especially biotechnology material in class IXstudents of MTsPN 4 Medan in the 2021 academic year with a level of 15.46% in the subconceptsofbasicprinciplesofbiotechnology,9.81%inconventionalbiotechnology,17.85%inmodernbiotechnology. , and 18.44% in the sub-material of the application of biotechnology.Based on the results of the study, the causes of student misconceptions can occur because ofthe individual himself, the debriefing that students receive and the handbook. Efforts that canbe made to reduce the occurrence of misconceptions are the provision of material according tothe concept, detailed explanations, and discussions.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the misconceptions that occured in the concept of photosynthesis andplant respiration for Class VIII at SMP Negeri 27 Medan In Science Learning. The research methodused by the writer in this research was descriptive qualitative method. The methodology itself was aprocess, principles, and procedures that use to approach problems and seek answers. The datacollection technique was carried out through the technique of giving a modified google formquestionnaire from a Denise journal questionnaire (2018) to several junior high school teachers inthe city of Medan. Interviews were conducted to find out more in-depth things related to themisconceptions that occur in students on the concepts of photosynthesis and respiration. The resultsof the analysis of the misconception questionnaire and interview data by teacher and students inClass VIII at SMP Negeri 27 Medan were presented. Based on the results of the research anddiscussion, it can be concluded that the misconceptions of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 27Medan fall into the “misconception” category with the criteria of “low” on the material ofPhotosynthesis and Plant Respiration.

Abstract

This study was made to determine the level of misconceptions of junior high school studentstowards static electricity and what are the obstacles for students in understanding the material sothat misconceptions occur. By using 7 students of SMPN 2 Hang Tuah Medan as research samples. The research method used is a qualitative method with a questionnaire technique with Gform andinterviews conducted online. By asking 5 questions about static electricity, it was found that about48.56% of the 7 students interviewed had misconceptions about static electricity. This happenedbecause of several factors, namely (1) the learning method was only in the form of explainingmaterial through group chats and independent study, (2) there was no evaluation conducted by theteacher on static electricity material. This is one of the limitations of online learning where theteacher focuses on explaining the material and does not provide opportunities for students to beinvolved in learning activities, resulting in the lack of self-confidence of students, and less than themaximum in achieving their knowledge.  For this reason, further action is needed by the teacher inorder to overcome the misconceptions of static electricity material that exist in students.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to elaborate a number of thoughts and concepts that believe inthe effect of applying Edmodo-assisted blended learning to improve student independence andlearning outcomes. The research method used is literature study by collecting literature sourcedfrom books, journals and other scientific sources related to Edmodo-assisted blended learning, independent learning and student learning outcomes. Based on the results of the study, blendedlearning was carried out by combining various methods of delivering learning with the help ofonline learning media, namely face-to-face and the use of e-learning. Edmodo facilitatesteachers and students to be able to communicate, collaborate and carry out the learning process, teachers can provide learning content, and students can conduct discussions and collectassignments or homework anytime and anywhere. There are seven indicators of learningindependence, namely: self-confidence, able to work alone, able to make decisions, beresponsible, have a desire to compete, be disciplined and active in learning. Learning outcomesare divided into three domains, namely cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. The results ofthe study concluded that the use of Edmodo-assisted blended learning could increase students'independence and learning outcomes. disciplined and active in learning. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the students' science problem solving abilities class IX ondynamic electricity at SMP Negeri 3 Medan. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Inthe study, using the subject of 20 students. Technique the sampling used is random sampling. Theresults showed that. The science problem solving ability of class IX students at SMP Negeri 3Medan is still classified as low. This can be seen from the acquisition of research results as follows:at the stage identify the problem that is (33.25%), the percentage of the total stage of describing theproblem is (35 %), the total percentage of the planning stage of the solution is (65 %), the totalpercentage of the stage Implement problem solving solutions, namely (50%) and indicators Conductevaluations of (64.50%). Based on the results of the average score of the five stages, the averagescore the lowest student's science problem solving ability was at the stage of identifying problem.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the application of the TPACK framework by teachers in distancelearning at junior high schools in Medan. In this research also used a qualitative descriptive methodby providing a google form questionnaire to 10 junior high school teachers in the city of Medan. The data was obtained based on the answers to questions from 10 junior high school scienceteachers, where 7 teachers were public school educators and the other 3 teachers were educators inprivate schools from different schools. The process of collecting data through a questionnairecontaining questions that must be filled in by the teacher about their agreement or disagreementwith the questions given in the questionnaire (Likert scale). The questions made are invincible withthe TPACK aspect. Based on the instruments that have been developed, researchers have obtainedthat the teachers already know and apply TPACK in distance learning well through theunderstanding and abilities possessed by the junior high school science teachers in carrying out thelearning process in the classroom, especially on the topic of temperature and heat.
