Abstract

This research investigates the relationship between media exposure and early age reading skills, aiming to provide insights into the complex interplay between media consumption habits and literacy development among young children. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the study integrates quantitative analysis of standardized assessments with qualitative insights from interviews to comprehensively explore the impact of media engagement on various aspects of reading proficiency. Findings reveal positive associations between moderate levels of interactive media use and certain reading skills, such as phonemic awareness and vocabulary acquisition, while excessive screen time and passive media consumption are negatively correlated with reading fluency and comprehension. These findings underscore the importance of a balanced approach to media use and active parental involvement in guiding children's media experiences. The study also highlights the need for longitudinal research designs, experimental methodologies, and investigations into contextual factors to deepen our understanding of media's influence on early age literacy development. Ultimately, collaborative efforts between educators, parents, policymakers, and media producers are essential for fostering positive literacy outcomes and empowering children to become proficient and engaged readers in the digital age.

Abstract

This research investigates the effectiveness of laboratory methods in increasing learning interest in mathematics. Through a comprehensive analysis of data collected from surveys, classroom observations, and interviews with educators and students, the study examines the impact of laboratory-based instruction on student engagement, conceptual understanding, and attitudes towards mathematics. The findings reveal a positive correlation between the implementation of laboratory methods and increased student enthusiasm for learning mathematical concepts. Students reported greater confidence in their mathematical abilities and a deeper appreciation for the relevance and applicability of mathematics in their daily lives. Moreover, the study highlights the importance of teacher practices, curriculum design, and professional development in maximizing the benefits of laboratory methods in mathematics instruction. The research contributes to our understanding of the transformative potential of laboratory-based instruction in mathematics education and provides valuable insights that can inform efforts to enhance mathematics education practice.

Abstract

This research delves into the intricate dynamics of parental satisfaction at State High School 1 Berastagi, aiming to identify key factors influencing parental attitudes and perceptions towards education. Drawing upon a mixed-methods approach, including quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews, the study explores dimensions such as academic quality, teacher-student interactions, school climate, extracurricular opportunities, and parental involvement. Findings reveal varying levels of parental satisfaction across different dimensions, with academic quality emerging as a primary driver of satisfaction. Positive teacher-student interactions, a supportive school climate, and meaningful parental involvement also significantly contribute to parental satisfaction. Moreover, contextual factors such as cultural norms and socio-economic disparities influence parental perceptions and experiences. Implications for educational practice and policy are discussed, emphasizing the importance of enhancing academic quality, promoting positive relationships, fostering a positive school climate, providing diverse extracurricular opportunities, and promoting meaningful parental involvement. The study concludes with reflections on its limitations and suggests directions for future research to further enrich our understanding of parental satisfaction and inform evidence-based interventions and policies aimed at enhancing the quality of education for all stakeholders.

Abstract

This research presents the development of a Decision Support System (DSS) tailored for the selection of Islamic names using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) methodology. Naming holds profound cultural and religious significance in Islamic tradition, reflecting values, beliefs, and aspirations. The DSS integrates data analytics, mathematical modeling, and cultural sensitivity to provide a systematic approach to name selection, encompassing criteria such as religious significance, linguistic aesthetics, and cultural relevance. Through a thorough review of existing literature, the research identifies gaps in knowledge and explores the intersection of technology and tradition in name selection. The methodology encompasses problem formulation, criteria identification, alternatives generation, hierarchical structure design, pairwise comparisons, AHP model development, system development, testing and evaluation, validation and verification, and documentation and reporting. A numerical example illustrates the application of the DSS, demonstrating its effectiveness in prioritizing Islamic names based on predefined criteria. The findings highlight the importance of considering multiple dimensions in name selection and the potential of the DSS to empower Muslim individuals and families in making informed and culturally sensitive choices. The research contributes to advancing knowledge and understanding in this domain, offering insights into the complexities and nuances of name selection in Islamic culture.

Abstract

This research investigates the influence of popular culture on the personality of adolescents in Indonesia through a mixed-methods approach. Drawing on theories of cultural hybridity, media literacy, and social comparison, the study examines how media consumption habits, cultural influences, and individual characteristics intersect to shape adolescent development within the Indonesian context. Qualitative data from in-depth interviews and focus group discussions reveal the diverse experiences and perspectives of Indonesian adolescents in navigating popular culture influences on their identity negotiation, media literacy, and social comparison processes. Quantitative analyses of survey data provide insights into the prevalence and patterns of popular culture consumption among Indonesian adolescents, as well as its associations with personality traits and psychosocial well-being. The findings highlight the complex interplay between globalized media influences and Indonesian cultural values in shaping adolescent personality, underscoring the importance of promoting critical media literacy skills, resilience-building strategies, and inclusive representations. While this research contributes valuable insights into the influence of popular culture on adolescent development in Indonesia, limitations and directions for future research are also discussed. Overall, this study offers implications for theory, practice, and policy in promoting positive youth outcomes amidst the complexities of contemporary media environments.
