Abstract

The study focuses on the political phenomenon of the dynamic interaction between the local political elites and the religious elites in the contestation of the 2019 presidential elections. In this case of the contestation of presidential elections 2019, each has an influential elite in the community. The subject in this study to the political elites was a member of the Regional House of Representatives and Leaders of political parties in Pasuruan City. Furthermore, regarding the religious elites, it is a religious figure or religious leader who has an educational institution or a mass. The analysis study conducted is to use the main data obtained from an interview to the subject of the researcher and the secondary data information obtained from other supporting documents. The results of the research resulted in the findings of the Interaction dynamics between local political elites and religious elites in Pasuruan City during the 2019 Presidential Election. This interaction aims to win the candidate of the 2019 presidential spouse in Pasuruan city. Religious Elites and Local political elites in Pasuruan City each have the same interests. This interest is to win each of the spouses supported presidential candidates. The local political elites and religious elites are trying to win presidential candidates in a variety of ways. It starts with an open declaration until the indirect support. The religious elites in Pasuruan City have an important role in every election activity. Therefore, in the election activities will occur the dynamic interaction between the political elites and religious elites.

Abstract

The research focuses on the role of government institutions related to regulating public transportation in the city of Surabaya. Transportation is one sector which influences the economic growth of a city, the potential to be utilized as a commodity used in obtaining sources of power by some parties. Because in the practice of management, how a ruling regime is able to regulate, control and determine the direction of policy that will influence various efforts taken by the government to encourage economic growth from the region so as to be able to "turn on industrial machinery in its territory" and create new economic growth centers. Suroboyo Bus is also a manifestation of ongoing democracy in the city of Surabaya. In this study, we will explain several problems, first discussing the institutions involved in the process of forming a political decision related to the management of Suroboyo Bus, secondly about the interests involved in the political decision, the three relations that will emerge during the process. In this study it is known that the mayor is the institution that most determines the direction of policy that will be taken in the transportation sector in the city of Surabaya.

Abstract

This research describes about political branding and political branding communication strategies of Samsul Arifin in Headman election of Tambakboyo in 2018. Samsul Arifin is youngest headman candidate in Sukoharjo who won the headman election in 2018 against incumbent who had two periods of leadership. This study uses descriptive qualitative method with in-depth interviews data collection techniques with Samsul Arifin and the Samsul team coordinator then it was analyzed by using Lorann Downer’s theory of political branding strategies. The results are Samsul has brand himself as a young man who will build the village government that has been damaged in the previous period. Samsul delivered his political brand by collaborating with the RT in appointing Samsul as a headman candidate, the youths are conditioning their parents, socializing in the RT forum, asking for blessing to the residents of hamlet (sub village) I, speech during registration of candidate, forming a Samsul’s wings team, anticipating of vote buying which usually do in early morning, using banner and making t- shirts for voters who are in Samsul’s side. The political brand must be implemented according to the concept, so it is not damaging candidate’s brand.

Abstract

The phenomenon of a single candidate lately happens a lot in Indonesia, especially in the sphere of local election democratic parties. In the elections held simultaneously in Indonesia in 2017, many regions in the elections were only attended by one candidate pair. This makes the climate of competition in democracy not as expected with democracy. Democracy aims to make elite circulation happen, so that the ruling elite does not dominate so that it becomes an oligarchy. Democracy can turn into an oligarchy if a small group of groups dominates and tries to maintain power in order to remain in the circle of power. We have encountered many oligarchs in political parties, where the DPP of political parties determines the direction of political parties, even in determining the candidates to be carried by political parties in the elections and political lobbying in forming coalitions. The author uses the theory of iron oligarchy Robert Michels as an analytical aid. The research method uses descriptive qualitative research methods in explaining the phenomena that occur. Research data obtained through in-depth interviews with informants. The results show that the phenomenon of a single candidate is not always due to the high electability of a candidate pair, it can also occur because of the dominant oligarchy in political parties at the central level affects to the regional level.

Abstract

This study discusses the perspective of Political Justice in the Implementation of BPJS PBI in Surabaya. The study aims to determine the implementation of BPJS PBI in Surabaya has fulfilled Political Justice and the implementation of BPJS PBI in Surabaya is adequate as a form of political justice. The research method that uses is descriptive qualitative because it presents a detailed description of the situation or social phenomenon. Methods of data collection using direct interviews with resource persons include: Head of Surabaya City Health Office, Surabaya City DPRD Commission D, Lurah, PBJS recipient community. The results showed that the implementation of BPJS PBI in Surabaya City had not yet fulfilled Political Justice, based on indicators of fairness, equality, equality, and impartiality. The implementation of BPJS PBI in the city of Surabaya is also inadequate as a form of political justice because the state still determines justice in terms of profit and loss to health because the way of thinking lies in the amount of current contributions that do not match the actual calculation. Therefore, the implementation of the Health Insurance for the Poor program funded by the Surabaya City Regional Budget has not yet fulfilled the concept of Political Justice. This can be seen that there are still Health Insurance recipients who are not on target because of lack of accuracy in the process of verifying data on the poor in Surabaya, easy to get a Poor Certificate (SKM) that applies only once, and there are still groups of welfare recipients, so there is no meet the aspects of equity and justice.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the tendencies carried out by GMI Sidoarjo in the 2019 presidential election. GMI Sidoarjo is one of the community organizations that acts as a successful team winning the pair of candidates in the 2019 presidential election. This research is descriptive qualitative by using the theory of political participation from Samuel Huntington and Nelson. From the results of the study obtained several results, namely political participation carried out are collective, organized, legal and ineffective. Consolidation is done internally and externally. Then, the form of political participation in conducting elections is carried out with political discussion, outreach, campaigning and vote escort. The winning effort was unsuccessful, so the pair supported by the Indonesian Millennial Movement in Sidoarjo was defeated due to the lack of targeted support in fighting for votes in the 2019 presidential election.
